Air fi lter
Follow the recommendations in the Maintenance Guide.
When working under the bonnet, when the engine is hot (even stopped and the ignition switched off), the cooling fan coul d operate at any time.
Check the engine oil level frequently between routine service visits, as well as prior to long journeys.
Engine coolant
The coolant level should be between the MAX and MINmarks on the header tank.
If the engine is hot, wait 15 minutes.
Quality: See "Maintenance Guide"
Never work on the cooling system if the engine is hot.
12 volt battery
See "Practical advice".
Engine oil
Check the oil level with the vehicle parked on level ground, after the engine has been switched off for at least fi fteen minutes.
Quality: See "Maintenance Guide"
Brake fl uid
The fl uid level must be situ-ated within the MAX and MIN marks visible on the reservoir.
The screenwash fl uid should be replaced periodically as it loses its effectiveness over time.
Quality: See "Maintenance Guide"
If the warning lamp comes on while you are driving, stop immediately and contact the CITROËN network.you are driving, stop immediately stop immediately
Dust fi lter/odour fi lter (active carbon)
See "Maintenance Guide"
Take out the oil dipstick.
The level must be between the MAX and MIN marks on the dipstick
It should never exceed the maximum mark.

Specifi cation for the fl uid
To ensure optimum cleaning and to avoid freezing, topping up or fi lling of the reservoir must not be done with just water.

Radiator - coolant
The coolant must only be checked or topped up if the power unit is cold.
Engine hot
As the cooling system is pressu-rised, wait for at least one hour after switching off the engine before inter-vening.
To avoid the risk of scalding, slacken the cap two turns to allow the pres-sure to escape. Once the pressure has fallen, remove the cap and top up the level.
Adding engine oil
Remove the dipstick before topping up.
Check the level after fi lling.
It should never exceed the maxi-mum mark.
Screw on the cap before closing the bonnet.
Quality: See "Maintenance Guide".
Topping up the cooling system
The coolant level should be between the MAX and MINmarks on the header tank.
Top up the level. If you have to add more than 1 litre, you should have the cooling system checked by CITROËN.the cooling the cooling
Make sure that the cap is on cor-rectly
Note: The necessity to top up fre-quently would indicate a malfunction that should be checked at the earli-est opportunity.
Note: On vehicles equipped with a particle fi lter, the cooling fan may operate for some ten minutes after the engine has stopped.

For best results as well as for your safety, use only CITROËN approved For best results as well as for your as well as
products which protect at tempera-tures as low as -25 °C to -30 °C.
It is essential to have suffi cient screen wash fl uid if your vehicle is equipped with Xenon headlamps.
To check the level, place a fi nger on aperture A before removing the cap.
Capacity: 3.5 litres.
Capacity with headlamp washers: 6.5 litres.
Brake fl uid
The synthetic fl uid not only gives protection against corrosion but also ensures correct functioning of the braking system in all environmental conditions, therefore you should only use the synthetic product recom-mended by the CITROËN network. use the synthetic product recom-product
(this fl uid must be replaced every two years).
These important requirements are detailed in your vehicle’s Mainte-nance Guide.
Quality: See "Maintenance Guide".

Brake fl uid reservoir
Check and top up at regular intervals.
The fl uid level must be situated within the max and min marks visible on the reservoir.

Remove the protection cover by fi rst unclipping point 1, then 3 and4. Detach point 2 by pulling towards you, then lift.
To reposition the protection cover, attach point 2 fi rst. Lower the cover, keeping it centred. Clip points 1 and4, pushing vertically and slightly rearwards. Clip point 3 pushing down vertically.

Bleeding of water from the diesel fuel fi lter
To be bled on a regular basis (at every oil change).
To evacuate the water, slacken the bleed screw or the water in diesel fuel sensor, which is located at the base of the fi lter, until water ceases to fl ow out.
Then retighten the bleed screw or the water in diesel fuel sensor.
DIESEL INJECTION EQUIPMENTWear of brake discs, brake pads and brake drums
The rate of wear of the brake pads depends on the use of your vehicle (urban use, frequent stops), and on your style of driving or the type of journey.
For information on checking the discs and drums for wear, contact a CITROËN dealer.
After washing the vehicle, brake progressively to dry out the brake linings.

Detach the protection cover to access the priming pump.
In the event of running out of fuel:
- After fi lling (5 litres minimum), operate the manual priming pump until some resistance is felt.
- Operate the starter motor while depressing the accelerator pedal slightly until the engine starts.
If the engine fails to start at the fi rst attempt, wait 15 seconds before trying again.
If the engine fails to start after seve-ral attempts, repeat the procedure from the beginning.
When the engine is idling, accele-rate slightly to complete the bleeding of the circuit.

If you have put in fuel
that is wrong for your
vehicle, it is essential
to have the tank drained
before you start the en-
gine.
For petrol engines with catalytic
converter, use of unleaded fuel is
obligatory
The fi ller neck has a narrower orifi ce
to admit only petrol fi ller nozzles.
When you are fi lling your fuel
tank, do not persist after the third
cutoff; this could cause your ve-
hicle to malfunction.UNLEADED PETROL
DIESEL FUEL
Petrol engines are designed to run on RON 95 fuel.
However, for better vehicle perform-ance (petrol engines), we recom-mend RON 98.
A label on the inside of the fuel fi ller fl ap indicates the approved fuel quality type.
FUELBioFlex
Your vehicle has been designed to
operate
equally on unleaded pet-
rol (95 or 98) or on bioethanol (in
Europe this is a mixture of 85 %
ethanol and 15 % unleaded petrol,
known as E85).
A label inside the fuel fi ller fl ap indi-
cates the fuels authorised:
In winter conditions, starting from cold may seem diffi cult. During periods of very cold weather we recommend the use of 95 or 98 unleaded petrol in preference to B85 so as to ensure optimum starting per-formance.
Other than the question of the two authorised fuels, your vehicle is used in the same way as a traditional pet-rol vehicle.

Towing with all wheels on the ground
Towing ring fi xings are placed at the front and at the rear of the vehicle.
To access them:
- at the front: push on the left to tilt the cover, then remove it.
- at the rear: push at bottom, then pull on top.
The cover remains attached to the bumper by means of a tab, so t hat it cannot become lost.
The ignition key should be in position "M" so as to retain steering.
Use a bar with hooks to attach on the towing rings.
Vehicles with manual transmission
For vehicles with manual transmission, the gear lever must be in n eutral. Failure to observe this requirement can lead to the failure of certain braking compo-nents and a lack of braking assistance on restarting the engine .
If the engine is not running, the steering and braking systems will not be power-assisted.
If towing another vehicle, the latter should be free-wheeling (that is, gearbox in neutral).
