Driver’s seat belt not fastened
This lamp comes on if the driver's seat belt is not fas-tened when the ignition is switched on and while the vehicle is moving at up to 20 km/h (approx. 12 mph)
Above 20 km/h (12 mph), the warn-ing lamp fl ashes for about 120 sec-onds, accompanied by an audible signal.
Passenger seat belt not fastened/unfastened
On switching on the ignition, the warning lamp comes on when the passenger’s seat belt is not fas-tened.
It goes out when the engine is run-ning, doors closed, after 30 sec-onds.
Then it comes on, if the belt is not fastened, while the vehicle is moving at up to 20 km/h (approx. 12 mph).
Above 20 km/h (12 mph), the warn-ing lamp fl ashes for about 120 sec-onds, accompanied by an audible signal.
Front passenger’s airbag deactivation warning lamp
(See "Safety").
Doors open detection
This warning lamp, when the engine is running, comes on if a door, the bonnet and/or the boot is open.
Front/side airbag fault warning lamp
(See "Safety").
Anti-lock Braking System
The ABS warning lamp lights when the ignition is switched on and should go out after a few seconds.
If the warning lamp does not go out, there may be a system mal-function.
Diesel Preheater
Wait for it to go out before operating the starter.
Depollution system warning lamp
If it fl ashes or lights up while you are driving, this indi-cates a depollution system operat-ing fault.
Urgently consult a CITROËN Dealer.
SERVICE warning lamp
If it comes on, this indi-cates a fault with one of the systems that do not have a specifi c warning lamp.
See the radio "Log of alerts" to dis-cover the origin of the correspond-ing alert message.
Child safety warning lamp
If child safety is activated, this warning lamp comes on then goes out approximately 10 seconds after starting the engine.

7 - Air fl ow
Heater blower speed: press button:
9 - Demisting - deicing of the rear screen
When this function is work-ing, the warning lamp comes on and the symbol appears on the display.
This control is for rapid deicing or demisting of the rear screen.
It switches off automatically to avoid excessive consumption of power.
To stop it, press again on the control 9.
Press AUTO to return the system to its automatic function.
To increase it
To decrease it.
The level of air fl ow is represented on the display by the progressive fi ll-ing of the fan blades.
A press on the control 7 deactivates the function "AUTO". To restart it, press again on the control AUTO.
Note: to avoid condensation and poor air quality in the passenger compartment, it is recommended always to maintain a suffi cient fl ow of air.
9 - Demisting - deicing of the windscreen and front side windows
While it is operating, the warning lamp lights and the symbol appears on the dis-play.
This control is for rapid deicing or demisting of the windscreen, acting automatically on the air blower fl ow, air distribution, air conditioning and air entry.
To stop it, press again on control 8or on the control AUTO.
Note: you should not have air recir-culation selected.

- Ensure that the gear lever is in the neutral position.
- Do not touch the accelerator.
- In the case of diesel engine vehi-cles: turn the key to the drive position. Wait for the pre-heater warning lamp to go off, if it is on.
- Action the starter by turning the key until the engine starts (but not for more than ten seconds).
- In temperatures lower than 0 °C, apply the clutch during the action on the starter in order to aid starting. Then release the clutch slowly.
DO NOT RUN THE ENGINE IN A SPACE THAT IS ENCLOSED OR INSUFFICIENTLY VENTILATED.
Automatic gearbox
- Check that you are in position P or N.
- Do not touch the accelerator.
- For Diesel engines: turn the key to position M. Wait for the pre-heater warning lamp to go off if it is on.
- Action the starter by turning the key until the engine turns over (not for longer than ten seconds).
Advice
Vehicles equipped with a Turbo:
Turbo equipped engines MUST be allowed to return to idle for several seconds before switching off the ignition. Failure to do so could cause serious damage to the turbo unit.
Flicking the throttle pedal as the ignition is turned off can lead to severe dam-age to the turbo unit.
(6 speed) Electronic Gearbox System
- Check that you are in position N.
- Fully depress the brake pedal.
- Do not touch the accelerator.
- For Diesel engines: turn the key to position M. Wait for the pre-heater warning lamp to go off if it is on.
- Action the starter by turning the key until the engine turns over (not for longer than ten seconds).
Note: If the vehicle has been sta-tionary for a long time, or if you have pressed the brake pedal a number of times while stationary, it will be necessary to press the brake pedal hard down in order to authorise the engine to start.
