C O M F O R T
A i r c o n d i t i o n i n g
At any time of year, the air condition-
ing is useful for removing air humid-
ity and misting.
To keep the air conditioning com-
pressor well sealed, it is essential to
operate the air conditioning at least
once in every month.
To be effective, the air conditioning
should only be used with the win-
dows closed.
If you are towing a heavy trailer or if
outside temperatures are very high,
the air conditioning may be tempo-
rarily interrupted in favour of engine
cooling.
Sensor
The automatic air conditioning inside the passenger compartment makes use of the sunlight sensor, which is located on the dashboard behind the instrument panel.
Take care not to obstruct it.
Water arising from condensation
in the air conditioning is allowed to
drain out through an aperture pro-
vided for this purpose; a pool of
water may thus form beneath the
vehicle when stationary.
You are recommended to have the
air conditioning system checked on
a regular basis (see Maintenance
Guide).
The air conditioning uses energy
from the engine to operate. This
results in extra fuel consumption

AUTO Automatic wiping.
Position I: The timing of the inter-mittent wipe adjusts automatically to the speed of the vehicle.
Position 1 or 2: or when stationary, the windscreen wiper speed automati-cally reduces.
SCREEN WIPE
Deactivating automatic wiping
Go to position I then return to posi-tion 0.
WARNING:
Do not cover the rain sensor, which is visible from the outside of the wind-screen, behind the interior rear view mirror.
When washing the vehicle, switch off the ignition or deactivate auto-matic wiping.
Automatic wiping
AUTO position: press downwards to activate automatic wiping.
Press downwards: Automatic wipe activated.
Note: A press downwards triggers a single wipe, but without deactivating automatic wipe.
As a safety precaution, the wiper system is deactivated approx. 1 minute after the ignition has been switched off.
On switching the ignition back on, to reactivate the function:
- return to the Off position,
- change to the position desired.

D R I V I N G
Proximity sensors are located in the front and rear bumpers of your vehicle.
When manoeuvring, whether for-wards or in reverse, at a speed below approx. 6 mph, they warn you of the presence of any obstacle situ-ated within their detection zone, by means of:
- a sound signal emitted by the front or rear loudspeakers,
- the display of the outline of your vehicle with shading at the zones where obstacles are detected.
As the vehicle approaches an obsta-cle, the sound signal tells you its position according to whether the sound issues from the front LH or RH speaker or from the rear LH or RH speaker.
NaviDrive version
Screen C version
- As the vehicle gets close to the obstacle, the sound signal becomes ever more rapid and the shading appears ever closer to your vehicle’s outline.
- When the obstacle is less than around 25 centimetres from the vehicle, the signal becomes con-tinuous and a WARNING panel appears on the display.
Activation/Deactivation
You can activate/deactivate the parking assistance with a press on control 1. If the parking assistance is inactive, the warning lamp is on.
Activation or deactivation of the parking assistance is memorised when you stop the vehicle.
Note: The system is deactivated automatically if a trailer is attached to the vehicle.

Operation:
- When you engage reverse gear, a sound signal informs you that the system is active. The outline of your vehicle is displayed on the screen. Any obstacles situated at the rear or at the front of the vehi-cle can be detected.
- Moving forward at a speed lower than approx. 10 km/h (6 mph), either in neutral or in a gear, the outline of your vehicle is displayed on the screen immediately an obstacle is detected in front of the vehicle. Obstacles situated at the front of the vehicle can be detected.
When selecting reverse gear, a short audible sig-nal followed by another audible signal, accom-panied by the illumination of the SERVICE warning lamp indicates a malfunction of the system.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
Note
- The proximity sensors cannot detect obstacles situated imme-diately below or above the bump-ers.
- A thin object such as a spike or stake, or other similar object, may be detected only at the start of your manoeuvre but not when the vehicle has approached close to it.
- During the winter months or in bad weather, make sure that the sen-sors are not covered by dirt or by ice or snow.

Protection cover
HDi 135 and 140 engines
Remove the protection cover by fi r s t u n c l i p p i n g p o i n t 1, then 3 and4 . D e t a c h p o i n t 2 by pulling towards you, then lift.
To reposition the protection cover, attach point 2 fi r s t . L o w e r t h e c o v e r , keeping it centred. Clip points 1 and4, pushing vertically and slightly rearwards. Clip point 3 pushing down vertically.
HDi engines are of a highly technical nature.

To be bled on a regular basis (at every oil change).
To evacuate the water, slacken the bleed screw or the water in diesel fuel sensor, which is located at the b a s e o f t h e fi l t e r , u n t i l w a t e r c e a s e s t o fl o w o u t .
Then retighten the bleed screw or the water in diesel fuel sensor.
DIESEL INJECTION EQUIPMENTWear of brake discs, brake pads and brake drums
The rate of wear of the brake pads depends on the use of your vehicle (urban use, frequent stops), and on your style of driving or the type of journey.
For information on checking the discs and drums for wear, contact a CITROËN dealer.
After washing the vehicle, brake progressively to dry out the brake linings.
