Range
This is the number of kilometres (or miles) that ca n still
be travelled on the fuel remaining in the tank.
When the distance remaining to be travelled is less
than 25 km (around 15 miles), only three dashes will
be displayed.
After a re-initialisation of the trip computer, the indica-
tion of range only becomes significant after a certain
length of time.
Average consumption
This is the relationship between the fuel consumed
and the distance travelled since the last time the tr ip
computer was reset to zero.
Instantaneous consumption
This is the result based on consumption recorded in

the last two seconds. This function only operates ab ove
30 km/h (approx. 20 mph).
Average speed
This is the result (since the last time the trip compute r
was reset to zero), from dividing the distance travelled
by the time taken (time with the ignition switched on).
Distance travelled
This is the number of kilometres (or miles) travelled
since the last time the trip computer was reset to
zero.
Distance remaining to be travelled
To enter this, see « Multifunction screens C and DT ».

Manual gearbox
1.
Check that you are in neutral.
2. Do not touch the accelerator.
3. For Diesel engines : turn the
key as far as position M. Wait
for the preheater warning lamp
to go off if this has come on.
4. Action the starter by turning
the key until the engine starts
(not more than ten seconds).
5. In ambient temperatures low-
er than 0°C, declutch during
the action on the starter to fa-
cilitate starting. Then remove
your foot slowly from the
clutch pedal.
NEVER RUN THE ENGINE IN A SPACE THAT IS ENCLOSED OR INSUFFICIENTL Y VENTILATED.
Electronic Gearbox System
(6-speed)
1.
Check that you are in position N.
2.
Press firmly on the brake pedal.
3. Do not touch the accelerator.
4. For Diesel engines : turn the key
as far as position M. Wait for
the preheater warning lamp to
go off if this has come on
.
5. Action the starter by turning
the key until the engine starts
(not more than ten seconds).
Note : After the vehicle has had a
prolonged stop or if the brake ped-
al has been applied several times
when stationary, it is necessary to
press the brake pedal fully down
in order to authorise starting of the
engine.
Advice
Vehicles equipped with a turbocharger
Never stop the engine without having allowed it to run f or a few seconds at idle, this being the time required for t he
turbocharger to return to a normal speed.
«Flicking the accelerator» at the moment of switching off the ignition could cause serious damage.
Note : If the engine fails to start at the first attempt, switch off the ignition. Wait ten seconds, then action the starter
again as indicated above. Automatic gearbox
1.
Check that you are in position
P or N.
2. Do not touch the accelerator.
3. For Diesel
engines : turn the
key as far as position M. Wait
for the preheater warning lamp
to go off if this has come on.
4. Action the starter by turning
the key until the engine starts
(not more than ten seconds).
Note : To exit from position P,
press on the brake pedal before
moving the selector.

5 speed gearbox
Reverse gear
Never engage reverse gear before the vehicle has come to a complete halt.
The movement should be made slowly in order to prevent snatching noises.
Note : With a manual gearbox :
- the cruise control is active from 4
th gear above speeds of 40 km/h (25 mph),
- the speed limiter is active above speeds of 30 km/h (19 mph).

The (6-speed) electronic gearbox offers you a choice
of two driving modes :
- automatic mode,
- manual mode, with levers under the steering wheel 1.
Mode selection :
- automatic mode : selector 2 in position A.
- manual mode : selector 2 in position M.
Note : in automatic mode, instant manual operation
is possible any time you action one of the levers 1. Selection position-
The selector position is displayed in the instrument
panel, on the left on multifunction screens A and C
and on the right on multifunction screen DT.
- A background-lit position grille associated with the
selector allows you to view the position selected.
When the ignition is on, lighting of the SERVICE wa rning lamp, accompanied by a sound signal and the
message « Gearbox faulty » indicates a malfunction. Urgently contact a CITROËN dealer.
For safety :
• Position N can only be disengaged if you are pressing the brake pedal.
• When a door is opened, a sound signal is heard if the selector is not in position
N.
• If the gearbox is in position N but the selector position is different, reposition the sele ctor on
N in order to be
able to start
.

Starting the engine
1. To start the engine, the selec-
tor has to be in position N.
2.
Press firmly on the brake pedal.
3. Action the starter.
4. When the engine is running,
place the selector on R, A or
M as desired.
5. Check, in the instrument pan-
el, the position engaged.
6. Release the brake pedal and
accelerate.
Note : If the selector is not in po-
sition N, and/or if the brake pedal
is not pressed, the correspond-
ing warning lamp(s) display and a
message informs you that at least
one of these two conditions is not
met.
In this case, the engine will not
start, recommence the above pro-
cedure. Using the 6-speed electronic
gearbox
Reverse gear
Engaging reverse gear
To engage reverse gear, move the
selector to R.
Only attempt to change to reverse
gear when the vehicle is stationary. Automatic mode
Changing to automatic mode
To change to automatic mode,
move the selector to A.
Manual mode
Changing to manual mode
Manual mode activates when you
move the selector to M.
- Pull the lever « + » to change up
a gear.
- Pull the lever « - » to change
down a gear.
When the engine is running, before accelerating to move
the vehicle, make sure that the position engaged on the selector grille or in the
instrument panel is either : R, A or M
.Do not leave the vehicle with
the engine running in R, A or M.
If the vehicle is moving rapidly, if
an inadvertent attempt to engage
reverse gear is made, the warning
lamp
N will flash and your vehicle
will go automatically into neutral.
To re-engage a gear, you have only
to reposition the selector on A, M
or R.

Changing to neutral
To change to neutral, move the
selector to N. If the vehicle is mov-
ing, do not select this position
even momentarily.

To select automatic
driving mode :
- Move the selector to position A.
The warning lamp A lights up in
the instrument panel to confirm
the selection.
The gearbox then functions in au-
tomatic mode, without any inter-
vention on your part.
It constantly selects the gear that
is best suited to the following pa-
rameters :
- driving style,
- road profile,
- optimum fuel consumption. Temporary manual operation
when in automatic mode
- By pulling either of the levers
« + » or « - », you can exer-
cise temporary control over the
changing of gears. The request
to change gear will be taken into
account. You will still be in auto-
matic mode. The warning lamp
A remains lit up in the instrument
panel.
- This function enables you to an- ticipate certain situations such the
approach of a bend or the need
to overtake another vehicle.

Cancellation of automatic
mode
The change from position A (driv-
ing in automatic mode) to position M (driving in manual mode) or vice
versa can be made at any time.
The warning lamp A disappears in
the instrument panel.

To select manual
mode : -
Move the selector to po-
sition M.
Controls under the steering
wheel
The levers under the steering
wheel give you access to all the
six forward gears. To change gear :
- Pull the lever «
+ » to change up
a gear.
- Pull the lever « - » to change
down a gear.
Note : The levers do not permit
you to select neutral or reverse
gear, or to exit reverse gear.
In situations of high engine speeds (heavy acceleration), a change up will not occur unless
the driver actions this on the lever controls.
( 6 - S P E E D ) E L E C T R O N I C G E A R B O X S Y S T E M - M A N U A L M O D E
Observations :
- If the vehicle stops or reduces
speed (for example when ap-
proaching a stop sign), the gear-
box changes down automatically
to first gear.
- In manual mode, it is not neces- sary to release the accelerator
completely during gear changes.
- A request to change gear is ac- cepted only if the engine speed
permits it.
- For safety reasons, depending on the engine speed, a change
down may be performed auto-
matically.
