Removing a wheel

 Park the vehicle on level, stable
and non-slippery ground. Apply
the parking brake (a message
and a warning lamp appear on
the instrument panel).
Switch off the ignition and en- gage fi rst gear or reverse gear
depending on the slope (position

P if an automatic gearbox, D or

R if a 6-speed electronic gear-
box).

 Use a chock to secure the vehicle
more safely. Place the chock 9 in
front of the wheel that is opposite
the wheel affected.
 Detach the trim using the remov-
ing tool 4 , pulling in the area of
the valve.
For vehicles with alloy wheels, insert the trim removing tool 1
into the recess in the central trim
and lever it off.
For vehicles with alloy wheels that have visible bolts, remove
the chrome covers using the re-
moving tool 2 .
 Slacken the wheel bolts. For ve-
hicles with alloy wheels, undo
the security bolts using the secu-
rity bolt socket 6 .

 Position the jack under the vehi-
cle, at the jacking point A closest
to the wheel to be changed.

 Unwind the jack 5 until its brack-
et is in contact with the ground.
Make sure that the jack is verti-
cal under the jacking point used.

 Continue to extend the jack so
as to raise the vehicle.

 Undo the wheel bolts and re-
move the wheel.
Before any operation of this
sort, it is advisable to deac-

Wheel for temporary use
If your vehicle is equipped with a
spare wheel for temporary use only,
when fi tting this it is normal to observe
that the wheel bolts do not come to
bear directly on the wheel rim.
The spare wheel is secured by the
conical tapering of the wheel bolt’s
shaft.
When refi tting the original wheel, en-
sure that the wheel bolts and wash-
ers are clean and in good condition. Fitting a wheel

 Position the wheel with the aid of
the centring guide 3 .

 Do up the 3 bolts by hand, then
remove the centring guide 3 .
Position the 4 th bolt.

 Pre-tighten the wheel bolts, us-
ing the wheelbrace 4 .

Retract the jack 5 and disengage it.

 Tighten the wheel bolts, using
the wheelbrace 4 .

 Ensure that the tyre pressure is
correct.
Defl ation detection
Such wheels have tyre pressure
sensors. It is essential to have re-
pairs carried out by a CITROËN
dealer. The spare wheel does not
have a sensor.
Security bolts (alloy wheels)
Each wheel may be equipped with
one security bolt.
To remove it:

 Remove the protector that is cov-
ering it by means of the tool for
removing the chrome covers 2 .

 Use the security bolt socket 6
with the wheelbrace 4 . Dimension of the spare
wheel
If your spare wheel has dimensions
different from those of the normal
vehicle wheels (identifi ed by a la-
bel), it is imperative to use the spare
wheel only temporarily, to drive
with caution, not to exceed 80 km/h
(50 mph) and to have the tyre re-
paired and the normal wheel refi tted
as soon as possible.
Tyre pressures
These are indicated on the label
on the front right-hand door pil-
lar (see section "Technical Data -
§ Identifi cation markings").
The wheel bolts are specif-
ic to each type of wheel.
If new wheels are fi tted,
check with your CITROËN dealer
that the wheel bolts are compat-
ible with the new wheels.
Note: take care to note down
the code number on the head of
the security bolt socket. This will
enable you to obtain a replace-
ment security bolt socket from a
CITROËN dealership.
