F i t t h e e x t e n s i o n t o t h e d r i v e t h e n
e n g a g e t h e h e a d o f t h e w h e e l -
brace 4 o n t h e e x t e n s i o n .
T u r n t h e a s s e m b l y clockwise to
the end of its travel to lower the
s p a r e w h e e l c a r r i e r ; t h e s p a r e
w h e e l i s n o w r e s t i n g o n t h e
g r o u n d .
P u l l t h e w h e e l t o w a r d s y o u a n d
p a s s t h e l i n k i n g p l a t e t h r o u g h
the centre of the wheel. W i t h t h e d a m a g e d w h e e l
n o w u n d e r t h e v e h i c l e fl o o r ,
the vehicle has reduced
g r o u n d c l e a r a n c e , s o t a k e e x t r a
c a r e w h e n r e v e r s i n g o r d r i v i n g o n
u n e v e n s u r f a c e s , i n c l u d i n g k e r b s .
R e t r i e v a l o f t h e s p a r e w h e e l a n d
s t o w a g e o f t h e a f f e c t e d r o a d w h e e l
a r e o p e r a t i o n s t h a t s h o u l d b e d o n e
w i t h t h e v e h i c l e s u p p o r t e d o n i t s
w h e e l s , n o t b y t h e j a c k .
Putting the wheel back in place
T h e t y r e v a l v e m u s t b e f a c i n g
u p w a r d s .
P a s s t h e l i n k i n g p l a t e t h r o u g h
t h e c e n t r e o f t h e w h e e l ( fi r s t r e -
m o v i n g t h e c e n t r a l t r i m o n c e r -
t a i n a l l o y w h e e l s ) .
Turn the carrier drive anti-clock-
wise to draw in the carrier cable.
I n i t i a l l y t h e d r i v e w i l l t u r n f r e e l y ,
t h e n t h e c a b l e w i l l t i g h t e n t o r a i s e
the wheel.
C h e c k t h a t t h e w h e e l i s t i g h t a g a i n s t t h e v e h i c l e fl o o r a n d
n o t i n t e r f e r i n g w i t h o t h e r n e a r b y
c o m p o n e n t s ( e . g . t h e e x h a u s t ) .
