Practical information




12 V battery
The battery is located under the bonnet.
For access to the (+) terminal: )release the bonnet using the interior lever,
then the exterior safety catch, )raise the bonnet and secure it with its stay, )lift the plastic cover for access to the (+)
terminal.
Access to the battery

Procedure for star ting the engine using another battery or charging a discharged battery.
The presence of this label, in particular with the Stop & Start system, indicatesthe use of a 12 V lead-acid battery withspecial technology and specification;the involvement of a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop is essential when replacing or disconnecting the battery.

After refitting the battery, the Stop & Start system will only be active after acontinuous period of immobilisation of thevehicle, a period which depends on theclimatic conditions and the state of chargeof the battery (up to about 8 hours).
When your vehicle's battery is discharged, the engine can be star ted using a slave battery (external or on another vehicle) and jump leadcables.

) Connect the red cable to the positive
terminal (+) of the flat battery A, then to the
positive terminal (+) of the slave battery B.) Connect one end of the green or blackcable to the negative terminal (-) of the slave battery B
(or ear th point on the other
vehicle).) Connect the other end of the green or black cable to the ear th point Con the broken
down vehicle (or on the engine mounting). ) Start the engine of the vehicle with the good battery and leave it running for a few minutes.


First check that the slave battery has a nominal voltage of 12 V and a capacity at least equal to that of the discharged battery. Do not try to star t the engine byconnecting a battery charger.
Do not disconnect the (+) terminal when the engine is running.
Before doing any work
Immobilise the vehicle: apply the parking brake, put the gearbox in neutral, then switch off the ignition.Check that all electrical equipment isswitched off.

Do not apply excessive force on thetab as locking will not be possible if the clamp is not positioned correctly; star tthe procedure again.



Disconnecting the (+) cable
)Raise the locking tab Dfully to release the cable terminal clamp E.


Reconnecting the (+) cable
)Position the open clamp Eof the cable on
the positive post (+) of the battery.
)Press vertically on the clamp E to position
it correctly on the battery.
)Lock the clamp by spreading the positioning lug and then lowering the tab D.
)Operate the star ter on the broken down
vehicle and let the engine run
If the engine does not start straight away,
switch off the ignition and wait a few moments before trying again. )Wait until the engine returns to idle then
disconnect the jump lead cables in the reverse order.






Before disconnecting the battery

Wait 2 minutes after switching off the ignitionbefore disconnecting the battery.

Close the windows and the doors before
disconnecting the battery.

Following reconnectionof the battery

Following reconnection of the battery, switch on
the ignition and wait 1 minute before star ting to
permit initialisation of the electronic systems.However, if problems remain following this
operation, contact a CITROËN dealer or a
qualified workshop.
