Automatic rain sensitive
windscreen wipers
The windscreen wipers operate automatically, without any action on the part of the driver, if
rain
is   detected   (sensor   behind   the   rear   view
m

irror),   adapting   their   speed   to   the   intensity   of
t

he   rainfall.
Activation
This is controlled manually by the driver by pushing s talk A to the "AUTO" p osition.
It is accompanied by the illumination of this indicator   lamp   in   the   instrument   panel   and a

Operating fault
If an automatic wiping fault occurs, the wipers will   operate   in   intermittent   mode.
Have
it   checked   by   a   CITROËN   dealer   or   a
q

ualified
 w
orkshop.
To retain the effectiveness of the flat
wiper
  blades,   it   is   advisable   to:
-

h
andle   them   with   care,
-

c
lean   them   regularly   using   soapy
w

ater,
-

n
ot   use   them   to   hold   a   sheet   of
c

ardboard   against   the   windscreen,
-

r
eplace   them   at   the   first   signs   of
w

e a r.
Do
not   cover   the   rain   sensor,   linked
w

ith the sunshine sensor and located in
the centre of the windscreen behind the
rear
  view   mirror.
Switch
  off   the   automatic   wiping   when
u

sing   an   automatic   car   wash.
In winter, it is advisable to wait until the
windscreen
  is   completely   clear   of   ice
b

efore   activating   the   automatic   wiping. This position allows the wiper blades to
be
lifted   for   winter   parking,   cleaning   or
r

eplacement   without   damaging   the   bonnet.
In
the   minute   following   switching   off   of   the
i

gnition,   any   action   on   the   wiper   stalk   positions
t

he   wipers   vertically.
To

Under-inflation detection
System which automatically checks the pressures of the tyres while driving.
T he   under-inflation   detection   system
d

oes   not   replace   the   need   for   vigilance
o

n   the   part   of   the   driver.
This
system   does   not   avoid   the   need   to
c

heck   the   tyre   pressures   (including   the
s

pare   wheel)   every   month   as   well   as
b

efore   a   long   journey.
Driving
  with   under-inflated   tyres
i

mpairs   road   holding,   extends   braking
d

istances   and   causes   premature
t

yre wear, particularly under arduous
condition
  (high   loading,   high   speed,
lon

g
 jo
urney).The inflation pressures defined for
your vehicle can be found on the tyre
pressure
  label.
See
  the   "Identification   markings"
s

ection.
Tyre
  pressures   should   be   checked
w

hen   the   tyres   are   "cold"   (vehicle
s

topped   for   1   hour   or   after   a   journey   of
l

ess   than   6   miles   (10   km)   at   moderate
s

peeds).
Other wise
(when   hot),   add   0.3   bar   to
t

he   pressures   shown   on   the   label.
Driving
  with   under-inflated   tyres
i

ncreases   fuel   consumption.
The
system   monitors   the   pressures   in   the   four
t

yres,   once   the   vehicle   is   moving.
It
compares   the   information   given   by   the   four
w

heel speed sensors with reference values,
which must be reinitialised ever y time the
tyre pressures are adjusted or a wheel
changed .
The
system   triggers   an   alert   as   soon   as   it
d

etects a drop in the inflation pressure of one
or
  more   tyres.

Active City Brake
Active City Brake is a driving assistance system   that   aims   to   avoid   a   frontal   collision
o

r   reduce   the   speed   of   an   impact   if   the   driver
d

oes   not   react   sufficiently   (inadequate   brake
a

pplication). This
  system   is   designed   to   improve
d

riving   safety.
It
  remains   the   driver's   responsibility   to
c

ontinuously   monitor   the   state   of   the
t

raffic and to assess the distances and
relative
  speeds   of   other   vehicles.
Active
  City   Brake   can   in   no
c

ircumstances   replace   the   need   for
v

igilance   on   the   part   of   the   driver.
Never
look   at   the   laser   sensor   through
an o

ptical
 in
strument
 (
magnifying
 g
lass,
 m

icroscope...)   at   a   distance   of   less   than
1

0   centimetres:   risk   of   eye   injury.Automatic
  braking   occurs   later   than   if
d

one by the driver, so as to intervene
only
when   there   is   a   high   risk   of
c

ollision.Principle
Using a laser sensor located at the top of the windscreen,   this   system   detects   a   vehicle
r

unning   in   the   same   direction   or   stationary
a

head   of   your   vehicle.
When
  necessary,   the   vehicle's   braking   system
i

s   operated   automatically   to   avoid   a   collision
w

ith   the   vehicle   ahead.
Conditions for activation
Active City Brake only operates if the following conditions   are   met:

i
gnition   on,

t
he   vehicle   is   in   a   for ward   gear,

s
peed   is   between   about   3   and   18   mph
(5
  and   30   km/h),

t
he   braking   assistance   systems   (ABS,
E

BFD,   emergency   braking   assistance)   are
n

ot faulty,

t
he   trajectory   control   systems   (ASR,   DSC)
a

re not deactivated or faulty,

t
he   vehicle   is   not   in   a   tight   corner,

t
he   system   has   not   been   triggered   during
t

he   previous   10   seconds.

Operating faults
In the event of an impact to the windscreen at the sensor, deactivate
the
  system   and   contact   a   CITROËN
d

ealer   or   a   qualified   workshop to   have
y

our   windscreen   replaced.
Never
try   to   remove,   adjust   or   test
t

he sensor.
Only
a   CITROËN   dealer   or   a   qualified
 w

orkshop   is   able   to   work   on   the   system.
When
towing   a   trailer   or   when   the
v

ehicle   is   being   towed,   the   system   must
b

e   deactivated.Do not stick or other wise fix any object on the   windscreen   in   front   of   the   sensor.
Sensor fault
The operation of the laser sensor may suffer inter ference   from   accumulations   of   dirt   or
m

isting   of   the   windscreen.   In   this   case   you   are
w

arned   by   the   display   of   a   message.
Use
  the   windscreen   demisting   and   regularly
c

lean the area of the windscreen in front of the
sensor.
System fault
In the event of a malfunction of the system, you a re   warned   by   an   audible   signal   and   the   display
o

f   the   message   "Automatic braking system
fault" .
Have
the   system   checked   by   a   CITROËN
d

ealer   or   a   qualified   workshop.
In

difficult

weather

conditions

(very
 h
eavy

rain,

snow,

fog,

hail...),

braking

d

istances increase, which can reduce
the

ability

of

the

system

to

avoid

a

c

ollision.
The

driver

must

therefore

remain

par

ticularly
 v

igilant.
Never

leave

accumulations

of

snow

or

a

ny

object

projecting

above

the

bonnet

o

r

in

front

of

the

roof:

this

might

fall

into

t

he field of vision of the sensor and
generate

a

detection.
