Switching off the lighting when switching off the ignition

When the ignition is switched off, allof the lamps switch off immediately, except for the dipped beam headlamps if automatic guide-me-home lighting is activated.
Temporarily keeping the dipped beamheadlamps on after the vehicle's ignition has been switched off makes the driver's exit easier when the light is poor.

If the lighting is switched on manually after switching off the ignition, there is an audible signal when a front door is opened to warn the driver that they have forgotten to switchoff the vehicle's lighting, with the ignition off.
They switch off automatically after a periodwhich depends on the state of charge of thebattery (entry to energy economy mode).

When a low level of ambient light is detected by a sunshine sensor, the number plate
lamps, sidelamps and dipped beam headlamps are switched on automatically, without any action on the par t of the driver. They can also come on if rain is detected, at the same time as automatic operation of the windscreen wipers.
As soon as the brightness returns to a sufficient level or after the windscreen wipers are switched off, the lamps are switched off automatically.

Operating fault
In the event of a malfunction of
the sunshine sensor, the lighting comes on, this warning lamp is
displayed in the instrument panel and/or a
message appears in the screen, accompanied by an audible signal.
Contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified
workshop.
In fog or snow, the sunshine sensor may detect sufficient light. In thiscase, the lighting will not come on automatically.
Do not cover the sunshine sensor, coupled with the rain sensor and located in the centre of the windscreen
behind the rear view mirror; theassociated functions would no longer be controlled.
When the automatic illumination of headlamps
function is activated, under low ambient

With the ignition on or the engine running, torelease the parking brake, press on the brakepedalor the accelerator, pull then release
control A
.
Manual release

Before leaving the vehicle, ensurethat parking brake warning lamp inthe instrument panel is on fixed, not flashing.

Manual application
With the vehicle stationary, to apply the parkingbrake whether the engine is running or off, pullcontrol lever A.

The application of the parking brake is confirmed by:
- illumination o
f the braking warninglamp and of the P
warning lamp in
the control lever A,
- displa
y of the message"Handbrake on".
When the driver
’s door is opened with the engine running, a message is displayed
accompanied by an audible signal if the parkingbrake has not been applied, except in the case
of an automatic gearbox with the gear lever in position P.P
The full application of the parking brake is confirmed by:

- the brakin
g warning lamp and
the P warning lamp in the controllever Agoing off,

- displa
y of the message
"Handbrake off".
I
f you pull control lever A
without
pressing the brake pedal, the parkingbrake will not be released and awarning lamp will come on in the
instrument panel.

Maximum application

If necessary, you can make a maximum application
of the parking brake. This is obtained by means of a long pullon the control
l
ever A, until you see the message "Handbrake on maximum" and a beep is heard.
Maximum application is essential:

- in the case of a vehicle towing a caravan
or a trailer, if the automatic functions are
activated but you are applying the parkingbrake manually,

- when the gradient you are parked on may
vary (e.g. on a ferry, on a lorry, duringtowing).

In the case of towing, a loaded vehicle or parking on a gradient, make amaximum application of the parkingbrake then turn the front wheelstowards the pavement and engage agear when you park.
After a maximum application, the release time will be longer.

)With your foot on the brake, selectposition P
or N
. )Star t the engine.
If this procedure is not followed, there is an
audible signal, accompanied by a message in
the multifunction screen.)With the engine running, press the brakepedal. )Release the parking brake, unless it is programmed to automatic mode.)Select position R, D
or M,)Gradually release the brake pedal.
The vehicle moves off immediately.

If position N
is engaged inadver tentlywhile driving, allow the engine toreturn to idle then engage position D
toaccelerate.
When the engine is running at idle, withthe brakes released, if position R, Dor Mis selected, the vehicle moves even without the accelerator being pressed. When the engine is running, never leave children in the vehicle withoutsupervision. When carrying out maintenance withthe engine running, apply the parking brake and select position P.P

Automatic operation
)Select position D
for automatic
changing
of the six gears.
The gearbox then operates in auto-adaptive mode, without any inter vention on the par t
of the driver. It continuously selects themost suitable gear according to the style of
driving, the profile of the road and the load in
the vehicle.
For maximum acceleration without touching
the lever, press the accelerator pedal down fully (kick down). The gearbox changes down
automatically or maintains the gear selected
until the maximum engine speed is reached.
On braking, the gearbox changes down
automatically to provide efficient enginebraking.
If you release the accelerator sharply, the
gearbox will not change to a higher gear for safety reasons.

Never select position Nwhile thevehicle is moving. Never select positions Por R
unless the vehicle is completely stationary.

Invalid value during manualoperation
This symbol is displayed if a gear
is not engaged correctly (selector
between two positions).

Stopping the vehicle
Before switching off the engine, you canengage position Por N
to place the gearbox in neutral.
In both cases, apply the parking brake toimmobilise the vehicle, unless it is programmedto automatic mode.

If the lever is not in position P, when thePdriver's door is opened or approximately45 seconds after the ignition is switched off, there is an audible signal and amessage appears.)Return the lever to position P
; the audible signal stops and themessage disappears.

Operating fault

When the ignition is on, the lighting of this
warning lamp, accompanied by an audible
signal and a message in the multifunction
screen, indicates a gearbox malfunction.
In this case, the gearbox switches to back-up
mode and is locked in 3rd
gear. You may feel
a substantial knock when changing from Pto R
and from N
to R
. This will not cause any
damage to the gearbox.
Do not exceed 60 mph (10 0 km/h), local speed restrictions permitting.
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or aqualified workshop.
This warning lamp may also come on if a door
is opened.
You risk damaging the gearbox:

- if you press the accelerator and brake pedals at the same time,

- if you force the lever from position Pto another position when the batteryis flat.

To reduce fuel consumption when stationary for long periods with the engine running (traffic jam...), positionthe gear lever at Nand apply theparking brake, unless it is programmed in automatic mode.
