most suitable gear according to the style of
driving, the profile of the road and the load in
the vehicle.
For maximum acceleration without touching
the lever, press the accelerator pedal down
fully (kick down). The gearbox changes down
automatically or maintains the gear selected
until the maximum engine speed is reached.
On braking, the gearbox changes down
automatically to provide efficient engine
braking.

Operating fault
When the ignition is on, a message appears in the instrument panel screen to indicate agearbox fault.
In this case, the gearbox switches to back-up
mode and is locked in 3rd
gear. You may feel a substantial knock when changing from Pto R
and from Nto R. This will not cause anydamage to the gearbox.
Do not exceed 60 mph (10 0 km/h), local speedrestrictions permitting.
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or aqualified workshop.
You risk damaging the gearbox:

- if you press the accelerator and brake pedals at the same time,

- if you force the lever from position Pto another position when the batteryis flat.

To reduce fuel consumption whenstationary for long periods with theengine running (traffic jam...), position
the gear lever at Nand apply theparking brake, unless it is programmed in automatic mode.

paddles.
AUTOdisappears and the gearsengaged appear successively in theinstrument panel screen.
The gear change requests are only carried out
if the engine speed permits.
It is not necessary to release the accelerator
during gear changes.
When braking or slowing down, the gearboxchanges down automatically to permit
acceleration in the correct gear.
This selective
gear change mode enables you
to over take, for example, while still remaining in automatic mode.)Operate the +or - steering mounted controlpaddle.
The gearbox engages the gear requested if theengine speed permits. AUTOis still displayedin the instrument panel.
After a few moments without any action on
the controls, the gearbox resumes automatic control of the gears.

Manual mode

At very low speed, if reverse gear isrequested, this will only be taken intoaccount when the vehicle is immobilised(foot on the brake). A warning lamp appears in the instrument panel screen.

On sharp acceleration in manual mode, the gearbox will not change up unless the driver acts on the gear lever or thesteering mounted paddles.
Never select neutral N
while the vehicleis moving. Only engage reverse gear Rwhen thevehicle is immobilised with the brakepedal pressed.

Driving

You must press the brake pedal when starting the engine.
Whatever the circumstances, you mustmanually apply the parking brake when parking, unless the parking brake is programmed in automatic mode.

When immobilising the vehicle, with the engine running, you must place the gear lever in neutral N.Before carrying out any work in the engine compar tment, check that the gear lever is in neutral N
and that the parking brake is applied.

Stopping the vehicle

With the ignition on, the flashing of this warning lamp,
accompanied by an audible signal and a message
in the instrument panel screen, indicates a
mal
function of the gearbox.
Have it checked by CITROËN or a qualified
workshop. Be
fore switching off the engine, you canchoose to:
- move to position N
to engage neutral,
- leave the gear engaged; in this case, it will
not be possible to move the vehicle.
In both cases, you should apply the parking brake to immobilise the vehicle.

Stop & Start
Operation
Going into engine STOP mode
The "ECO"warning lamp comes
on in the instrument panel and the engine goes into standby:
- with the electronic
gearboxsystem,at speeds below 5 mph (8 km/h), press
the brake pedal or put the gear lever inposition N.
If your vehicle is fitted with the system, a timecounter calculates the sum of the periods in STOP mode during a journey. It rests itself to
zero every time the ignition is switched on with
the STA R T/STOP button.
Never refuel with the engine in STOPmode; you must switch off the ignition with the STA R T/STOP button.
For your comfor t, during parkingmaoeuvres, STOP mode is not available for a few seconds after coming out of reverse gear.STOP mode does not affect the functionality of the vehicle, such as for example, braking, power steering...

Special cases: STOP mode not available
STOP mode is not invoked when:

- the driver's door is open,

- the driver's seat belt is not fastened,

- the vehicle has not exceeded 6 mph(10 km/h) since the last engine start usingthe START/STOP button,

- the electric parking brake is applied or
being applied,

- the engine is needed to maintain acomfor table temperature in the passenger compartment,

- demisting is active,

- some special conditions (battery charge, engine temperature, braking assistance, ambient temperature...) where the engine isneeded to assure control of a system.
In this case, the "ECO"
warning
lamp flashes for a few seconds thengoes off. The
Stop & Star t system puts the engine temporarily into standby - STOP mode - during stops in the traffic (red lights, traffic jams, or other...).
The engine restar ts automatically - START mode - as soon as you want to move off. The restar t takes place instantly, quickly and silently.
Per fect for urban use, the Stop & Star t system reduces fuel consumption and exhaust emissions as well as the noise level when stationary.
This operation is per fectly normal.

, release the
brake pedal,

or
gear lever in position N
and the brake pedal released, move the gear lever to position A
or M,

or engage reverse gear.
START mode is invoked automatically when:
- the driver's door is open,
- the driver's seat belt is not fastened,
- the speed of the vehicle exceeds 7 mph
(11 k m / h) with the electronic gearbox system,
- the electric parking brake is being applied,
- some special conditions (battery charge, engine temperature, braking assistance,
ambient temperature...) where the engine is
needed for control of a system.
Special cases: START invoked automatically

If the system has been deactivatedin STOP mode, the engine restar ts immediately.

At any time, press the "ECO OFF"
switch todeactivate the system.
This is confirmed by the switch warning lamp coming on accompanied by a message in the screen.

Deactivation
In this case the "ECO"
warning
lamp flashes for a few seconds, then goes off.
This operation is per fectly normal.

The system is reactivated automaticallyat every new star t using the STA R T/STOP button.

Reactivation
Press the "ECO OFF"switch again.
The system is active again; this is confirmed
by the switch warning lamp going off and a
message in the screen.

Operating fault

In the event of a fault with the system, the
"ECO OFF"
switch warning lamp flashes thencomes on continuously.
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or aqualified workshop.
In the event of a fault in STOP mode, the
vehicle may stall. It is then necessary to switch
off the ignition and star t the engine again using
the STA R T/STOP button.

Before doing anything under the bonnet, deactivate the Stop & Start system toavoid any risk of injury resulting from automatic operation of START mode.
This s
ystem requires a 12 V battery with a special specification and technology (reference numbers available from CITROËN dealers).
Fitting a battery not listed by CITROËN
introduces the risk of malfunction of the system.
For charging, use a 12 V charger and do not
reverse the polarity.

Maintenance

The Stop & Star t system makes use of advanced technology. For any work onthe system go to a qualified workshop with the skills and equipment required, which a CITROËN dealer is able toprovide.
