Complementary to the catalytic converter, this filter makes an active contribution to the preservation of air quality b y the
retaining of the unburnt pollutant particles. Black exhaus t fumes are thus no longer emitted.
Clogging of the particle filter
If there is a risk of clogging, a message appears on the multif unction screen, accompanied by a sound signal.
This alert tells you that the particle filter is starting to f ill up (in conditions of urban driving of exceptionally long duration:
low speeds, traffic jams etc.)
To regenerate the filter, it is advised to drive as soon as pos sible, when traffic conditions permit, at a speed of around
60 km/h (40 mph) or more for at least five minutes (until the alert message disappears).
If this alert persists, consult a CITROËN dealer.
Observation: After prolonged idling or driving at very low speeds, you may occasionally notice water vapour being
emitted from the exhaust when accelerating. This is of no con sequence to the running of the vehicle or to the environ-
ment.
Diesel fuel additive level
If the diesel fuel additive level is low, a message appears on the multifunction screen accompanied by a sound signal.
It is necessary to have the additive level topped up.
Contact your CITROËN dealer.

Parking assistance
When reversing the vehicle, prox-
imity sensors located in the rear
bumper will inform you, by means
of a modulated audible signal, of
the presence of any obstacle within
the detection zone behind the vehi-
cle.
When engaging reverse gear, a
short audible signal confirms to
you that the system is active:
- as the vehicle approaches the ob-
stacle, the audible signal repeats
more and more rapidly,
- when the obstacle is less than 20 centimetres from the rear of the
vehicle, the signal becomes con-
tinuous.
However, the proximity sensors
cannot detect obstacles situated
immediately below the level of the
bumper. Objects such as spikes or
marker posts or similar may be de-
tected at the beginning of the ma-
noeuvre, but may no longer be
sensed when the vehicle gets
close.
Note: This system can be deacti-
vated by your CITROËN Dealer if
you so wish.

On engaging reverse gear, a short sound signal
followed by a long sound signal indicates a malfunction. Contact the CITROËN network.

Child safety on rear doors
This prevents the rear doors from
being opened from the inside.
This device operates independent-
ly of the main locking system.
Insert the end of the key, or similar
object, into the red aperture and
turn to operate.
Note:Ignition on, the warning lamp
in the instrument panel display illu-
minates:

Interior Locking/Unlocking
With the doors closed, press button Aonce to operate the electric cen-
tral locking and unlocking.
The doors can still be opened
from inside.
Note: With the ignition switched on,
the warning lamp indicating that the
doors and tailgate have been
locked illuminates in the instrument
panel display.
Doors unlocked.
Doors locked. ANTI-THEFT AND ANTI-INTRUSION SECURITY
The doors and tailgate can lock automatically as soon as the v
ehicle reaches
a speed of 10 km/h (approx. 6 mph).
Activating the function
Give a long press on the central locking button until a messag e appears on
the multifunction screen, accompanied by a beep.
Deactivating the function
Give a long press on the central locking button until you hear a beep.
The doors or the tailgate are unlocked when one of the doors is opened, or
when the central locking button is pressed.
Note: The warning lamp, in the hazard warning lamps control, flash es when-
ever the vehicle is locked using the remote control or the key .
Driving with the doors locked could render access difficult for
the emergency services.

Tailgate
To open
Release the catch by lifting leverA
located between the number plate
lamps.
The tailgate can be opened to two
positions.
The first position allows it to be
opened in an area with limited
headroom, e.g. an enclosed car
park. Closing the tailgate
To close, pull down the tailgate us-
ing either of the handholds in the in-
terior trim.
Removing your fingers, push down
firmly to shut.
Emergency unlocking
If there is a problem with unlocking
the tailgate, it can be unlocked
from inside the boot:
- insert a screwdriver or similar tool
into hole Bof the lock, and turn it
in order to unlock the tailgate.
Automatic locking of the tailgate (vehicle moving)
The tailgate locks automatically as soon as the vehicle reac hes a speed of 10 km/h (approx. 6 mph). It will remain
locked even when the vehicle stops.
Note: The opening of a door will unlock the tailgate.
In the event of an impact the tailgate unlocks automatically, and so can again be open ed from the outside.
