Introduce the smaller di ameter of the
bellows on the PF 537 – 03 device.
Cove r a ha nd with c lean ga uz e a nd
place it on the bellows in such a way as to
str etch the first fol d.
T ake support with the hip on the edge
of the vice (latera l side). Place the ot her hand around the first one
and strongly pull it, taking c are that first
fold is not huddled together. Bring the bellows a s close as possible
to the device cylindri cal par t and l et i t
release till half stroke. It is recommended to perfo rm many
times this opera tion (m aximum 5 times). When e asy slipping i s noticed, make so
that bellows is passing ove r the de vice
cylindrical part, the operation being
performed without stopping.

Brings the clogs to the center.
Position the retaining star (s), and each of
its arm s, being at the bi secting lines of t he
angles formed by the tri pod arms.
Int roduc e the tra nsm ission sha ft i n the
s teering knuckle casing, positioning it, subject
to the m arks (the t hree c logs penetrating in
the thre e rolling routes of the shaft). Slide slowl y t he t ransm i ssi on sha ft, i n
order to engage one arm of the re taining star
in the marked poi nt of the transmission shaft,
and press it for correct centeri ng.
Placing the other re taining star t wo arms,
it will be made easy by a screwdriver, with its
end modifi ed as per dra wing:
A = 5 mm B = 3 mm
Ensure that retaining star arms are correctly
positioned in the shaft marks. Check by hand, the joint operation.
Must not exist any hard point.
Di stribute in the bellows and in the steering
knuckle casing the gre ase pre scribed dosage.
NOTE It is obligatory to observe the quantity and
type of t he prescribed grease, 2 l +1 c l, ELF

Remove maximum of grease.
NOTE :
The t ulip not being equipped with a
ho o d ha ving re tainin g wings,
dismounting is to be performed without
forcing.
It is avoided th e cams exit from the
trunnions (tripod a rms) because the rol l-
needles and the cams are paired and must
be not reversed. Nev er u se th inner to wash the
component parts.

Using a press, extract the assembled tripod, sustain it on an extractor type FACOM U
53 G, protecting the clogs of the tri pod.
REMOUNTING
Grease the transmission shaft to help the protection bellows putting back (positionin g
of the smallest diameter of the bellows on the transmission shaft).
The tripod is fixe d an d mo unted in the posi tion mark ed on dis mount ing.
Thr ee po in ts of crim pin g ar e mad e at 12 0 ° C by met al he ad ing of the tran sm iss ion
shaft grooves .
Distribute the grease prescribed quantity in the bellows and in the tulip casing .
Correctly position the bellows in the tulip-casing place.
A non-cutting, round-headed rod is introduced between the bellows and the tulip casing
to dose the air amount contained insid e the bellows. Len gthen or co mp re ss the bel l ows un ti l va lu e A = 19 0 mm is obt ained (t he va lue
between the extremity of the bellows and the extremity of the tulip casing) then from this

DISMOUNTING
Dismount the two m aintaining collars using two rod s locally produced (see the method
previously descri bed for dismounting the joint GE, left transmission). Cut and remove the damaged bellows.
Take out maximum of grease.
In order to re place t he joint GE prot ection be llows, i t i s necessary to dismount/remount
the GI joint parts (see the method pre viously descri bed).
REMOUNTING
Grease the rod of t ransmission shaft with grease.
Introduce the protection bellows of the GE joint.
Di stribute the prescri bed dosage of grease for GE joint.
Position the bellows beads in the grooves of the steering knuckle casi ng, consequently
on the t ransmission shaft t ube and mount t he collars (see t he method descri bed at mounting
