UN DERSTANDING TH E CVT(IF EQUI PPED)Contin uously Variable Transmission (CVT)
The CVT isafully automatic transmission that electron ically
monitors vehicle system inputs/ outputs anddriver demands to
se lect thedesired driveratio\b Unlike tradition alautomatic
transmission s,theCV Tcon tinually adjuststheoptimu m
overall drive ratiobetween engine anddrive wheels forall
operating condition s\b
As traditional automatic transmissions shiftup ordown in
gears, thesh ifting ingear ratios isnoticeable byincreasing and
decreasin gengin eRPM, which causes asligh tenergy lossas
th e gears change\b These gear changescan befelt bythedriver\b
W ith theCVT, there isno energy transfer lossfrom shifting
because there isno gear shiftin gup or down\b Acceleration up
