all weather conditions.
The standard audio system has
many f eatures. This section
describes those f eatures and how to
use them. (If you have an optional

Turn the dial clockwise to increase
the fan speed and airflow. Turn the
dial counterclockwise to decrease it.
Press the button to increase
the fan speed and airflow. Press the
button to decrease it.
Turning this dial clockwise increases
the temperature of the airflow.
Your vehicle has four temperature
control buttons, two f or the driver,
and two for the front passenger.
When the rear passenger’s zone is
turned on using the REAR button on
the f ront control panel, a second row
passenger also can adjust the temperature, f an speed and air f low.
The rear passenger compartment
temperature can also be set
separately. Press the top ( ) of the
appropriate temperature control
button to increase the temperature
of airflow. Press the bottom ( ) of
the button to decrease it. Each set
temperature is shown in the display.
When you set the temperature to its
lower limit or its upper limit, it will be
displayed as ‘‘Lo’’ or ‘‘Hi’’.
When you press this button, the
indicator in the button comes on, and
the passenger’s side temperature
and the rear passenger compartment
is synchronized to the driver’s side
set temperature. Changing the
passenger’s side temperature or the
temperature of the rear passengercompartment makes the indicator to
go off, and takes the system out of
SYNC mode.
This button turns the air
conditioning on and of f . On LX and
Canadian DX models, the indicator in
thebuttonisonwhentheA/Cison.
On EX, EX-L, and Touring models,
you will see A/C ON or A/C OFF in
the display.
When the indicator in the button is
on, air f rom the vehicle’s interior is
sent throughout the system again.
When the indicator is off, air is
brought in f rom the outside of the
vehicle (fresh air mode).

When you switch to f rom, the A/C stays on, and you
canturnitonandoff manually.
When you switch to another mode,
the A/C returns to its original setting,
either on or of f , as displayed by the
A/C indicator.
When you want to change the
temperature of the rear passenger
compartment, press the REAR
button. The indicator in the button
comes on, and you can change the
temperature using the rear
temperature control button. When
you press the REAR LOCK button,
the indicator in the button comes on,
the rear A/C passenger control
panel is disabled, and you cannot
change any settings f rom it.
See page f or how to operate the
rear passenger control panel.
The system automatically
turns on the A/C and switches to
recirculation mode. Air f lows f rom
the center and side vents in the
dashboard. In this mode, you cannot
turn of f the A/C and also cannot
switch to f resh air mode. The passenger’s temperature cannot
be set separately f rom the driver’s. When you select , the system
automatically switches to f resh air
mode and turns on the A/C. Air f lows f rom the def roster
vents at the base of the windshield. Airf low is divided between
the f loor vents and def roster vents at
the base of the windshield.
The outside air intakes f or the
heating and cooling system are at
the base of the windshield. Keep this
area clear of leaves and other debris.
This button turns the rear window
def ogger on and of f (see page ).
Use the mode control dial or button
to select the vents the air flows from.
Some air will flow from the
dashboard vents in all modes.
Air flows from the center
and corner vents in the dashboard.
Airf low is divided between
the vents in the dashboard and the
f loor vents. Air f lows f rom the f loor
vents. When you select , the
system automatically switches to
f resh air mode.

Air conditioning places an extra load
on the engine. Watch the engine
coolant temperature gauge (see page). If it moves near the red mark,
turn of f the A/C until the gauge
reads normally.
Press the A/C button. The
indicator in the button comes on
(LX and Canadian DX models) or
‘‘A/C ON’’ is shown in the display
(EX, EX-L and Touring models)
when a f an speed is selected.
The f low-through ventilation system
draws in outside air, circulates it
through the interior, then exhausts it
through vents near the rear side
panels.
Set the temperature control dial or
button to the lower limit.
Make sure the A/C is of f .
Select and fresh air mode.
Set the f an to the desired speed. The heater uses engine coolant to
warm the air. If the engine is cold, it
will be several minutes bef ore you
f eel warm air coming f rom the
system.
Select and fresh air mode.
Set the f an to the desired speed.
Adjust the warmth of the air with
the temperature control dial or
buttons.
Make sure the temperature is set
to the lower limit.
Select .
If the outside air is humid, select
recirculation mode. If the outside
air is dry, select f resh air mode.

To remove f og f rom the inside of the
windows:To clear the windows f aster, you can
close the dashboard corner vents by
rotating the wheel next to each vent.
This sends more warm air to the
windshield def roster vents. Once the
windshield is clear, select f resh air
mode to avoid f ogging the windows.
For your saf ety, make sure you have
a clear view through all the windows
bef ore driving.Select . The system
automatically switches to f resh air
mode and turns on the A/C.
The indicator in the A/C button
will not come on (LX and Canadian
DX models), or the A/C ON
indicator will not come on (EX,
EX-L, and Touring models), if the
A/C was off to start with.

controls to maximum level.

opening the windows, turning on the
air conditioning, and setting the f an
to maximum speed in f resh air mode.
Air conditioning, as it cools, removes
moisture from the air. When used in
combination with the heater, it
makes the interior warm and dry.
This setting is suitable f or all driving
conditions whenever the outside
temperature is above 32°F (0°C). Switch the f an on.
Turn on the air conditioning.
Select and fresh air mode.
Adjust the temperature to your
pref erence.
When you switch to another mode

if it was on to start with, it stays on.Set the f an to high.

If you set the temperature to its
lower or its upper limit, the system
runs at f ull cooling or heating only. It
does not regulate the interior
temperature.
Press the Auto button. The
indicator in the button comes on.
Set the desired temperature with
the temperature control button.
You will see AUTO in the system’s
display. You can set the driver’s
side temperature and passenger’s
side temperature and the
temperature of the rear passenger
compartment separately. The
system automatically selects the
proper mix of conditioned and/or
heated air that will, as quickly as
possible, raise or lower the interior
temperature to your pref erence.
The automatic climate control
system adjusts the f an speed and
airflow levels to maintain the interior
temperature you select.
When you press a f an control button,
the fan is taken out of AUTO mode.
To keep stale air and mustiness
f rom collecting, you should have
the f an running at all times. Keep the system completely of f
f or short periods only.
You can manually select various
f unctions of the climate control
system when it is in f ully automatic
mode. All other f eatures remain
automatically controlled. Making any
manual selection causes the word
AUTO in the display to go out.
Turn the f an speed and temperature
control dials all the way to the lef t,
and turn the rear controller dial to
the OFF position.
Press the OFF button and the REAR
button (indicator is of f ).
In AUTO mode, the rear passenger
compartment temperature is also
regulated independently. In AUTO mode, the vehicle’s interior
temperature is independently
regulated f or the driver and
passenger. If the driver’s side of the
vehicle is getting too much sun, the
system will adjust to a lower
temperature.

The rear passengers can also adjust
the f an speed, temperature, and
airf low of the rear A/C unit with the
rear control panel.
With the dial in this position,
no air flows to the rear vents. The
rear control panel cannot be used by
a second row passenger to adjust the
rear A/C. Turning the dial clockwise
changes the f an speed to the rear
passengers. With the dial in this position,
the rear control panel can be used by
a second row passenger to adjust the
rear fan speed, airflow, and
temperature.
The climate control system f or your
vehicle can also be operated by voice
control. See the navigation section in
your quick start guide f or an
overview of this system, and the
navigation system manual f or
complete details.
You can adjust the airflow of the rear
A/C unit with the rear controller dial
on the f ront control panel. The rear
passengers can also adjust the
direction and the amount of airf low
on the rear control panel. You can adjust the temperature of
the rear A/C unit with the REAR
button and the rear temperature
control switch on the f ront control
panel.

control panel cannot be used by a

rear A/C. When the indicator in this
button is on, the rear temperature
can be adjusted with the REAR
