Petrol engine
Unleaded
Your new vehicle is designed to use
only unleaded fuel having an Octane
Rating of RON (Research Octane
Number) 91 / AKI (Anti-Knock Index)
87 or higher.
Your new vehicle is designed to
obtain maximum performance with
UNLEADED FUEL, as well as mini-
mize exhaust emissions and spark
plug fouling.
Leaded (if equipped)
For some countries, your vehicle is
designed to use leaded petrol.
When you are going to use leaded
petrol, we recommend that you ask
an authorized HYUNDAI dealer
whether leaded petrol in your vehicle
is available or not.
Octane Rating of leaded petrol is
same with unleaded one.
NOTICE
NEVER USE LEADED FUEL. The
use of leaded fuel is detrimental to
the catalytic converter and will
damage the engine control sys-
tem’s oxygen sensor and affect
emission control.
Never add any fuel system clean-
ing agents to the fuel tank other
than what has been specified (We
recommend that you consult an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer for
details.)

each new Hyundai vehicle sold shall
be free from any defects in material
and workmanship, under normal use
and maintenance, subject to the fol-
lowing terms and conditions.
1. Warranty period This warranty shall exist for a period
of
36 months/100,000 kms whichsoever is

earlier from the date
of delivery to the first purchaser.
This warranty is transferab
le to
subsequent owner for the remaining
warranty period. This warranty is
applicable only in India and
not
transferable to any other country.
2. What is covered
Except as provided in paragraph 3
hereof, our Authorized Dealers shall
either repair or replace, any Hyundai
genuine part that is acknowledged
by HMIL to be defective in material or w

orkmanship within the warranty
period stipulated above, at no cost to
the owner of the Hyundai vehicle for
parts or labour. Such defective parts
which have been replaced will
become the property of HMIL.
3. What is not covered
This warranty shall not apply to:
o Normal maintenance services other than the three free services,
including without limitation, clean-
ing and polishing, minor adjust-
ments, engine tuning, oil/fluid
changes, filters replenishment,
fastener retightening, wheel bal-
ancing, wheel alignment and tyre
rotation etc.
o Replacement of parts as a result of normal wear and tear such as
spark plugs, belts, brake pads
and linings, clutch disc/facing, fil-
ters, wiper blades, bulbs, fuses,
etc.
o Damage or failure resulting from: Negligence of proper mainte-
nance as required in this
Owner's Manual and Service
Booklet.
 Misuse, abuse, accident, theft, flooding or fire.
 Use of improper or insufficient
fuel, fluids or lubricants.
 Use of parts other than
Hyundai Genuine Parts.
 Any device and/or accessories
not supplied by HMIL.
 Modifications, alterations,
tampering or improper repair.
 Parts used in applications of
which they were not designed
or not approved by HMIL.
 Slight irregularities not recog-
nised as affecting quality or
function of the vehicle or parts,
such as slight noise or vibra-
tions, or items considered
characteristic of the vehicle.
 Airborne "fallout", Industrial
fall out, acid rain, hail and wind
storms, or other Acts of God.
 Paint scratches, dents or simi-
lar paint or body damage.
 Action of road elements (sand,
gravel, dust or road debris)
which results in stone chipping
of paint or glass.

approved by HMIL.
o Failure due to normal wear of parts.
o Direct or indirect failures caused by misuse and improper mainte
nance of vehicle and installation
of nonHyundai parts on the vehi
cle.
o Any vehicle on which the odome ter reading has been altered so
that mileage cannot be accurate
ly determined. o Incidental or consequential dam
ages\b including without limitation\b
loss of time\b inconvenience\b loss
of use of vehicle or commercial
loss.
This warranty is the entire warranty
given by HMIL for Hyundai replace
ment parts and no dealer or its or his
agent or employee is authorized to
extend or enlarge this warranty and
no dealer or its or his agent or
employee is authorized to make any
oral warranty on HMIL's behalf.
HMIL reserves the right for the final
decision in all warranty matters.
Owner's Responsibilities
o Proper use\b maintenance and care of the vehicle in accordance
with the instructions contained in
the Owner's Manual and Service
Booklet.
o Retention of maintenance service records. It may be necessary for
the customer to show that the
required maintenance has been
performed\b as specified in this
Owner's Manual and Ser vice
Booklet. o Retention of the customer's copy
of the original repair order and its
invoice/bill against which the part
was replaced.
o Delivery of the vehicle during reg ular service business hours to the
same Hyundai Authorized Dealer
who had sold and installed the
replacement part.
o In order to maintain the validity of this Parts replacement Warranty\b
the vehicle must be serviced by
Hyundai Authorized workshop in
accordance to the Owner’s

Make sure to refuel your vehicle
according to the "Fuel Requirements"
suggested in the foreword chapter.
Do not spill fuel on the exterior sur- faces of the vehicle. Any type of fuel
spilled on painted surfaces may
damage the paint.If the fuel filler cap requires replace-
ment, use only a genuine HYUNDAI
cap or the equivalent specified for
your vehicle. An incorrect fuel filler cap
can result in a serious malfunction of
the fuel system or emission control
system.NOTICEi

When refueling, always move
the shift lever to the P (Park)
position (for Continuously
Variable Transaxle vehicle) or
first gear or R (Reverse) position
(for Manual Transaxle vehicle),
set the parking brake, and place
the ignition switch to the
LOCK/OFF position. Sparks
produced by electrical compo-
nents related to the engine can
ignite fuel vapors causing a fire.
•
Do not use matches or a lighter
and do not smoke or leave a lit
cigarette in your vehicle while at
a gas station, especially during
refueling.
•
Do not over-fill or top-off your
vehicle tank, which can cause
petrol spillage.

If a fire breaks out during refuel-
ing, leave the vicinity of the vehi-
cle, and immediately contact the
manager of the gas station and
then contact the local fire
department. Follow any safety
instructions they provide.
•
If pressurized fuel sprays out, it
can cover your clothes or skin
and thus subject you to the risk
of fire and burns. Always
remove the fuel cap carefully
and slowly. If the cap is venting
fuel or if you hear a hissing
sound, wait until the condition
stops before completely remov-
ing the cap.
•
Always check that the fuel cap is
installed securely to prevent fuel
spillage in the event of an acci-
dent.

When using tire chains:
• Wrong size chains or improperlyinstalled chains can damage your
vehicle's brake lines\b suspension\b
body and wheels.
• Use SAE “S” class or wire chains.
• If you hear noise caused by chains contacting the body\b retighten the
chain to prevent contact with the
vehicle body.
• To prevent body damage\b retighten the chains after driving \f.5~1.\f km
(\f.3~\f.6 miles).
• Do not use tire chains on vehic
les
equipped with aluminum wheels. If
unavoidable\b use a wire type
chain.
• Use wire chains less than 15 mm (\f.59 in) wide to prevent damage
to the chain’s connection.
Winter precautions
Use high quality ethylene glycolcoolant
Your vehicle is delivered with high
quality ethylene glycol coolant in the
cooling system. It is the only type of
coolant that should be used because
it helps prevent corrosion in the cool
ing system\b lubricates the water
pump and prevents freezing. Be sure
to replace or replenish your coolant
in accordance with the maintenance
schedule in chapter 7. Before winter\b
have your coolant tested to assure
that its freezing point is sufficient for
the temperatures anticipated during
the winter.
Check battery and cables
Winter puts additional burdens on
the battery system. Visually inspect
the battery and cables as described
in chapter 7. The level of charge in
your battery can be checked by an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer or a
service station.
Change to "winter weight" oil if necessary
In some climates it is recommended
that a lower viscosity "winter weight"
oil be used during cold weather. See
chapter 8 for recommendations. If
you aren't sure what weight oil you
should use\b we recommend that you
consult with an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.
Check spark plugs and ignition system
Inspect your spark plugs as
described in chapter 7 and replace
them if necessary. Also check all
ignition wiring and components to be
sure they are not cracked\b worn or
damaged in any way.

Jump starting can be dangerous if
done incorrectly. Follow the jump
starting procedure in this section to
avoid serious injury or damage to
your vehicle. If in doubt about how to
properly jump start your vehicle, we

always follow these precautions

battery:

instructions carefully when
handling a battery.
Wear e ye protection

eyes from acid splashes.
Keep all flames, sparks, or
smoking materi als away
from the battery.
Hydrogen is always pres-
ent in battery cells, is high-
ly combustible, and ma y
explode if ignited.

Keep batteries out of
reach of children.
Batteries contain sulfuric
acid which is highly corro-
sive. Do not allow acid to
contact your eyes, skin or
clothing.
If acid gets into your eyes, flush
your eyes with clean water for at
least 15 minutes and get immedi-
ate medical attention. If acid gets
on yo ur skin, thoroughly wash the
area. If you feel pain or a burning
sensation, get medical attention
immedi ately.•
When lifting a plastic-cased bat-
tery, excessive pressure on the
case may cause battery acid to
leak. L ift with a battery carrier or
with your hands on opposite cor-
ners.
•
Do not attempt to jump start
your vehicle if your battery is
frozen.

battery when the vehicle’s bat-
tery cables are connected to the
battery.

The electrical ignition system
works with high voltage. NEVER
touch these components with
the engine run ning or when the

jumper cables to touch. It may
cause sparks.
•
The battery may rupture or
explode when you jump start
with a low or frozen battery.
•
Never attempt jump start if you
observe cracks, leaks or other
damage on Battery.

VVapor hose and fuel filler capThe vapor hose and fuel filler cap
should be inspected at those inter-
vals specified in the maintenance
schedule. Make sure that a new
vapor hose or fuel filler cap is cor-
rectly replaced.
Vacuum crankcase ventilation
hoses (if equipped)Inspect the surface of hoses for evi-
dence of heat and/or mechanical
damage. Hard and brittle rubber,
cracking, tears, cuts, abrasions, and
excessive swelling indicate deterio-
ration. Particular attention should be
paid to examine those hose surfaces
nearest to high heat sources, such
as the exhaust manifold.
Inspect the hose routing to assure
that the hoses do not come in con-
tact with any heat source, sharp
edges or moving component which
might cause heat damage or
mechanical wear. Inspect all hose
connections, such as clamps and
couplings, to make sure they are
secure, and that no leaks are pres-
ent. Hoses should be replaced
immediately if there is any evidence
of deterioration or damage.
Air cleaner filterWe recommend that the air cleaner
filter be replaced by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.Spark plugsMake sure to install new spark plugs
of the correct heat range.Do not disconnect and inspect
spark plugs when the engine is
hot. You may burn yourself.

 $#!Checking the washer fluid level Check the fluid level in the washer
fluid reservoir and add fluid if neces-
sary. Plain water may be used if
washer fluid is not available.
However, use washer solvent with
antifreeze characteristics in cold cli-
mates to prevent freezing.
Checking the parking brakeCheck the stroke of the parking
brake by counting the number of
“clicks’’ heard while fully applying it
from the released position. Also, the
parking brake alone should securely
hold the vehicle on a fairly steep
grade. If the stroke is more or less
than specified, we recommend that
the system be inspected by an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer.Stroke : 6~8 “clicks’’ at a force of 20
kg (44 lbs, 196 N).

Coolant•
Do not use radiator coolant or
antifreeze in the washer fluid
reservoir.
•
Radiator coolant can severely
obscure visibility when sprayed
on the windshield and may
cause loss of ve hicle control or
damage to the paint and body
trim.

Windshield washer fluid agents
contain some amounts of alco-
hol and can be flammable under
certain circ umstances. Do not
allow sparks or flame come in
contact with the washer fluid or
the washer fluid reser voir.
Damage to the vehicle or occu- pants could occur.

Windshield washer fluid is poi-
sonous to humans and animals. Do not drink and avoid coming
in contact with the windshield
