Convenient features
Electric Chromic Mirror (ECM)
(if equipped)
OBC3050014
The electric rearview mirror
automatically controls the glare from the
headlamp of the vehicle behind you in
nighttime or low light driving conditions.
When the engine is running, the glare is
automatically controlled by the sensor
(1) mounted in the rearview mirror. The
sensor detects the light level around
the vehicle, and automatically adjusts
to control the headlamp glare from
vehicles behind you.
Whenever the shift button is placed in R
(Reverse), the mirror will automatically
go to the brightest setting in order to
LPSURYHWKHGULYHUTVYLHZEHKLQGWKH
vehicle.
Outside rearview mirrors
OAI3059018
Be sure to adjust mirror angles before
driving.
Your vehicle is equipped with both left-
hand and right-hand outside rearview
mirrors.
The mirror heads can be folded to
prevent damage during an automatic car
wash or when passing through a narrow
street.
When the vehicle speed is over 9.3 mph
(15 km/h), the outside rearview mirror
will not fold.
WARNING
[ 7KHULJKWRXWVLGHUHDUYLHZPLUURU
is convex. In some countries, the
left outside rearview mirror is also
convex. Objects seen in the mirror
are closer than they appear.
[ 8VH\RXULQWHULRUUHDUYLHZPLUURURU
turn your head and look to determine
the actual distance of following
vehicles when changing lanes.
WARNING
Do not adjust or fold the outside
rearview mirrors whilst driving. This
may cause loss of vehicle control
resulting in an accident.

Battery saver function
The purpose of this feature is to prevent
the battery from being discharged.
The system automatically turns off the
position lamp when the driver turns the
engine off and opens the driver-side
door.
With this feature, the position lamps will
turn off automatically if the driver parks
on the side of road at night.
If necessary, to keep the lamps on when
the engine is turned off, perform the
following:
1) Open the driver-side door.
2) Turn the position lamps OFF and ON
again using the light switch on the

NOTICE
If you are still stuck after rocking the
vehicle a few times, have the vehicle
pulled out by a tow vehicle to avoid
engine overheating, possible damage
to the transmission, and tyre damage.
See “Towing” in chapter 8.
Smooth cornering
Avoid braking or gear changing in
corners, especially when roads are wet.
Ideally, corners should always be taken
under gentle acceleration.
Driving at night
Night driving presents more hazards
than driving in the daylight. Here are
some important tips to remember:
[ 6ORZGRZQDQGNHHSPRUHGLVWDQFH
between you and other vehicles, as it
may be more difficult to see at night,
especially in areas where there may
not be any street lights.
[ $GMXVW\RXUPLUURUVWRUHGXFHWKHJODUH
from other drivers’ headlamps.
[ .HHS\RXUKHDGODPSVFOHDQDQG
properly aimed. Dirty or improperly
aimed headlamps will make it much
more difficult to see at night.
[ $YRLGVWDULQJGLUHFWO\DWWKH
headlamps of oncoming vehicles. You
could be temporarily blinded, and it
will take several seconds for your eyes
to readjust to the darkness.
Driving in the rain
Rain and wet roads can make driving
dangerous. Here are a few things to
consider when driving in the rain or on
slick pavement:
[ 6ORZGRZQDQGDOORZH[WUDIROORZLQJ
distance. A heavy rainfall makes
it harder to see and increases the
distance needed to stop your vehicle.

[ 5HSODFH\RXUZLQGVFUHHQZLSHUEODGHV
when they show signs of streaking or
missing areas on the windscreen.
[ %HVXUH\RXUW\UHVKDYHHQRXJKWUHDG
If your tyres do not have enough tread,
making a quick stop on wet pavement
can cause a skid and possibly lead to
an accident. See “Tyre replacement”
in chapter 9.
[ 7XUQRQ\RXUKHDGODPSVWRPDNHLW
easier for others to see you.
[ 'ULYLQJWRRIDVWWKURXJKODUJHSXGGOHV
can affect your brakes. If you must go
through puddles, try to drive through
them slowly.
[ ,I\RXEHOLHYH\RXUEUDNHVPD\EHZHW
apply them lightly whilst driving until
normal braking operation returns.
