Diagnostic Procedure without CONSULT-IIACS008CZ
OBD-II SELF-DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE (WITH GST)
Refer to EC-144, "Generic Scan Tool (GST) Function" (for VQ35DE) or EC-835, "Generic Scan Tool (GST)
Function" (for VK45DE).
OBD-II SELF-DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE (NO TOOLS)
Refer to EC-69, "Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)" (for VQ35DE) or EC-760, "Malfunction Indicator Lamp
(MIL)" (for VK45DE).
TCM SELF-DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE (NO TOOLS)
Description
In the unlikely event of a malfunction in the electrical system, when the ignition switch is switched “ON”, the A/
T CHECK indicator lamp lights up for 2 seconds, then flashes for 8 seconds. If there is no malfunction, when
the ignition switch is turned “ON”, the indicator lamp lights up for 2 seconds. As a method for locating the sus-
pect circuit, when the self-diagnostics start signal is input, the memory for the malfunction location is output
and the A/T CHECK indicator lamp flashes to display the corresponding DTC.
Diagnostic Procedure
1. CHECK A/T CHECK INDICATOR LAMP
1. Start the engine with selector lever in “P” position. Warm engine to normal operating temperature.
2. Turn ignition switch “ON” and “OFF” at least twice, then leave it in the “OFF” position.
3. Wait 10 seconds.
4. Turn ignition switch “ON”. (Do not start engine.)
Does A/T CHECK indicator lamp come on for about 2 seconds?
YES >> GO TO 2.
NO >> GO TO AT- 1 9 3
.
2. JUDGEMENT PROCEDURE STEP 1
1. Turn ignition switch “OFF”.
2. Push shift lock release button.
3. Move selector lever from “P” to “D” position.
4. Release accelerator pedal. (Set the closed throttle position signal “ON”.)
5. Depress brake pedal. (Stop lamp switch signal “ON”.)
6. Turn ignition switch “ON”. (Do not start engine.)
7. Wait 3 seconds.
>> GO TO 3.
3. JUDGEMENT PROCEDURE STEP 2
1. Move the selector lever to the manual shift gate side. (Manual mode switch “ON”.)
2. Release brake pedal. (Stop lamp switch signal “OFF”.)
3. Move the selector lever to “D” position. (Manual mode switch “OFF”.)
4. Depress brake pedal. (Stop lamp switch signal “ON”.)
5. Release brake pedal. (Stop lamp switch signal “OFF”.)
6. Depress accelerator pedal fully and release it.
>> GO TO 4.

UNIFIED METER AND A/C AMP
Revision: 2005 July 2005 FX
UNIFIED METER AND A/C AMPPFP:27760
System DescriptionAKS005N8
For the unified meter and A/C amp., the signal required for controlling the combination meter are inte-
grated in the A/C auto amp.
Unified meter and A/C amp. controls each operation for A/C auto amp. For information regarding A/C con-
trol, refer to AT C - 3 0 , "
AIR CONDITIONER CONTROL" in ATC section.
Unified meter and A/C amp. inputs necessary information for combination meter from each unit by CAN
communication and so on.
And unified meter and A/C amp. outputs these signals using communication line (TX, RX) between unified
meter and A/C amp. and combination meter.
The signals required for the distance to empty (DTE) display are centralized in the unified meter and A/C
amp., converted into data, and sent to the display unit (without NAVI) display control unit (with NAVI) using
CAN communication.
Other input signals are also sent to the ECM, TCM, AWD control unit, BCM, display unit (without NAVI)
and display control unit (with NAVI) using CAN communication.
The unified meter and A/C amp. correspond a CONSULT-II function (self-diagnostic results, CAN diag-
nostic support monitor, data monitor).

ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) SYSTEM
Revision: 2005 July 2005 FX
*1: 1st trip DTC No. is the same as DTC No.
*2: This number is prescribed by SAE J2012.
*3: In Diagnostic Test Mode II (Self-diagnostic results), this number is controlled by NISSAN.
*4: SRT code will not be set if the self-diagnostic result is NG.
*5: The trouble shooting for this DTC needs CONSULT-II.
*6: When the fail-safe operations for both self-diagnoses occur at the same time, the MIL illuminates.
*7: For models with ICC or ASCD system.
*8: For models with ICC system.
*9: When the ECM is in the mode of displaying SRT status, MIL may flash. For the details, refer to EC-63, "
How to Display SRT Status" .
DTC AND 1ST TRIP DTC
The 1st trip DTC (whose number is the same as the DTC number) is displayed for the latest self-diagnostic
result obtained. If the ECM memory was cleared previously, and the 1st trip DTC did not reoccur, the 1st trip
DTC will not be displayed.
If a malfunction is detected during the 1st trip, the 1st trip DTC is stored in the ECM memory. The MIL will not
light up (two trip detection logic). If the same malfunction is not detected in the 2nd trip (meeting the required
driving pattern), the 1st trip DTC is cleared from the ECM memory. If the same malfunction is detected in the
2nd trip, both the 1st trip DTC and DTC are stored in the ECM memory and the MIL lights up. In other words,
the DTC is stored in the ECM memory and the MIL lights up when the same malfunction occurs in two consec-
utive trips. If a 1st trip DTC is stored and a non-diagnostic operation is performed between the 1st and 2nd
trips, only the 1st trip DTC will continue to be stored. For malfunctions that blink or light up the MIL during the
1st trip, the DTC and 1st trip DTC are stored in the ECM memory.
Procedures for clearing the DTC and the 1st trip DTC from the ECM memory are described in EC-68, "
