The brightness of the BSW/BSI indicator lights
is adjusted automatically depending on the
brightness of the ambient light.
A chime sounds if the radar sensors have
already detected vehicles when the driver acti-
vates the turn signal. If a vehicle comes into the
detection zone after the driver activates the turn
signal, then only the BSW/BSI indicator light
flashes and no chime sounds. (See “BSW/BSI
DRIVING SITUATIONS” later in this section)
The BSW system is automatically turned on
when the engine is started and the warning
systems ON indicator
1illuminates on the
switch. You can turn the BSW system off by
pushing the warning systems switch on the
instrumental panel. This switch will turn on and
off the LDW, BSW and FCW systems at the same
time.
NOTE:
If you continue to push the warning systems
switch from off to on for over 4 seconds, a chime
will sound. This will change the default status of
the LDW, BSW and FCW systems to OFF so that
these systems will not automatically turn on
when the engine is started. If this procedure is
repeated, the default status will return to ON.
BSI SYSTEM OPERATION
If the BSW/BSI indicator light is illuminated
while your vehicle is approaching a lane
marker, the BSW/BSI indicator light flashes and
an audible warning will sound three times. Then
the system applies the brakes on one side of
the vehicle for a short period of time to help
return the vehicle back to the center of the lane.
BSI operates regardless of turn signal usage.
NOTE:
● Warning and brake control will only be acti-
vated if the BSW/BSI indicator light is al-
ready illuminated when your vehicle ap-
proaches a lane marker. If another vehicle
comes into the detection zone after your ve-
hicle has crossed a lane marker, no warning
or brake control will be activated. (See
“BSW/BSI DRIVING SITUATIONS” later in this
section.)
● The BSI system is typically activated earlier
than the LDP system when your vehicle is
approaching a lane marker.
The BSI system is turned on if you push the
dynamic driver assistance switch on the steer-
ing wheel after starting the engine. The BSI ON
indicator light (green) on the instrument panel

3. Highlight the “Blind Spot Intervention”key, select ON (enabled) or OFF (disabled)
and push the ENTER
2button. The fac-
tory default setting is set to ON (enabled).
If you set all of the systems to disable and push
the dynamic driver assistance switch, the indi-
cator of the disabled system will blink for
approximately 4 seconds and turn off.
See “LANE DEPARTURE PREVENTION (LDP) SYS-
TEM” earlier in this section and “DISTANCE
CONTROL ASSIST (DCA) SYSTEM” later in this
section.
WARNING
● Do not use the BSI system under the follow-
ing conditions because the system may not
function properly.
– During bad weather (e.g. rain, fog, snow, wind, etc.)
– When driving on slippery roads, such as on ice or snow, etc.
– When driving on winding or uneven roads.
– When there is a lane closure due to road repairs.
– When driving in a makeshift lane.
– When driving on roads where the lane width is too narrow.
– When driving with a tire that is not within normal tire conditions (e.g. tire wear, low
tire pressure, installation of spare tire,
tire chains, non-standard wheels).
– When the vehicle is equipped with non- original brake parts or suspension parts.
● Do not use the BSW or BSI systems when
towing a trailer.
● Excessive noise (e.g. audio system volume,
open vehicle window) will interfere with the
chime sound, and it may not be heard. ●
The radar sensors may not be able to detect
and activate BSI/BSW when certain objects
are present such as:
– Pedestrians, bicycles, animals
– Several types of vehicles such as motor- cycles
– Oncoming vehicles
– Vehicles remaining in the detection zone when you accelerate from a stop
(See “BSW/BSI DRIVING SITUATIONS”
later in this section)
– A vehicle merging into an adjacent lane at a speed approximately the same as your
vehicle
(See “BSW/BSI DRIVING SITUATIONS”
later in this section)
– A vehicle approaching rapidly from be- hind.

later in this section)
– A vehicle which your vehicle overtakes rapidly.
(See “BSW/BSI DRIVING SITUATIONS”

● Severe weather or road spray conditions
may reduce the ability of the radar to detect
other vehicles.

●The radar sensors detection zone is de-
signed based on a standard lane width.
When driving in a wider lane, the radar
sensors may not detect vehicles in an adja-
cent lane. When driving in a narrow lane, the
radar sensors may detect vehicles driving
two lanes away.
● The radar sensors are designed to ignore
most stationary objects, however objects
such as guardrails, walls, foliage and parked
vehicles may occasionally be detected. This
is a normal operating condition.
● The camera may not detect lane markers in
the following situations and the BSI system
may not operate properly.
– On roads where there are multiple paral- lel lane markers; lane markers that are
faded or not painted clearly; yellow
painted lane markers; non-standard lane
markers; lane markers covered with wa-
ter, dirt, snow, etc.
– On roads where discontinued lane mark- ers are still detectable.
– On roads where there are sharp curves.
– On roads where there are sharply con- trasting objects, such as shadows, snow,
water, wheel ruts, seams or lines remain-
ing after road repairs. – On roads where the traveling lane merges
or separates.
– When the vehicle’s traveling direction does not align with the lane markers.
– When traveling close to the vehicle in front of you, which obstructs the lane
camera unit detection range.
– When rain, snow or dirt adheres to the windshield in front of a lane camera unit.
– When the headlights are not bright due to dirt on the lens or if aiming is not ad-
justed properly.
– When strong light enters a lane camera unit. (e.g. light directly shines on the front
of the vehicle at sunrise or sunset.)
– When a sudden change in brightness occurs. (e.g. when the vehicle enters or
exits a tunnel or under a bridge.)
BSW/BSI DRIVING SITUATIONS
Another vehicle approaching from
behind
The BSW/BSI indicator light illuminates if a
vehicle enters the detection zone from behind
in an adjacent lane.
However, if the overtaking vehicle is traveling
much faster than your vehicle, the indicator
light may not illuminate before the detected
vehicle is beside your vehicle. Always use the
side and rear mirrors and turn and look in the
direction your vehicle will move to ensure it is
safe to change lanes.

Overtaking other vehicles
The BSW/BSI indicator light illuminates if you
overtake a vehicle and that vehicle stays in the
detection zone for approximately 3 seconds.
The radar sensors may not detect slower mov-
ing vehicles if they are passed quickly.If the driver activates the turn signal while
another vehicle is in the detection zone, then
the BSW/BSI indicator light flashes and a chime
will sound twice.
If the BSI system is on and your vehicle ap-
proaches a lane marker while another vehicle is
in the detection zone, the BSW/BSI indicator
light flashes and a chime will sound three
times. Then, the BSI system slightly applies the
brakes on one side to help return the vehicle
back to the center of the driving lane.

NOTE:
When overtaking several vehicles in a row, the
vehicles after the first vehicle may not be de-
tected if they are traveling close together.
Entering from the side
The BSW/BSI indicator light illuminates if a
vehicle enters the detection zone from either
side.
NOTE:
The radar sensors may not detect a vehicle
which is traveling at about the same speed as
your vehicle when it enters the detection zone.

–When the hazard warning flashers are op-
erated.
– When driving on a curve at a high speed.
BSW/BSI temporarily not available
● Under the following conditions, the BSI sys-
tem will be turned off automatically, a beep
will sound and the BSI ON indicator light
(green) will blink. The BSW system is still
available, but the BSI system will not be
available until the conditions no longer ex-
ist.
– When the VDC system (except TCS func- tion) or ABS operates.
– When the VDC system is turned off.
– When the drive mode select switch is turned to the SNOW mode.
Action to take:
Turn off the BSI system and turn it on again
when the above conditions no longer exist.
● Under the following conditions, the BSW and
BSI systems will be turned off automatically,
a beep will sound and the BSW/BSI system
warning light (orange) will blink. The BSW
and BSI systems are not available until the
conditions no longer exist. – When the camera detects that the interior
temperature is high (over approximately
104°F (40°C)).
– When radar blockage is detected.
The radar sensors may be blocked by temporary
ambient conditions such as splashing water,
mist or fog. The blocked condition may also be
caused by objects such as ice, frost or dirt
obstructing the radar sensors.
Action to take:
When the above conditions no longer exist, the
BSW system will resume automatically. For the
BSI system, turn it off and turn it on again. If the
BSW/BSI warning light (orange) continues to
blink even after the BSI system is turned on
again, stop the vehicle in a safe location and
turn the engine off. Check for and remove
objects obscuring the radar sensors on the rear
bumper, and restart the engine.
If the warning light (orange) continues to blink,
have the BSW/BSI systems checked by an
INFINITI retailer.
BSW/BSI MALFUNCTION
When the BSW/BSI systems malfunction, they
will be turned off automatically, a beep will
sound and the BSW/BSI system warning light
(orange) will illuminate.
Action to take:
Stop the vehicle in a safe location, turn the
engine off and restart the engine.
If the warning light (orange) continues to illu-
minate, have the BSW/BSI systems checked by
an INFINITI retailer.

SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
●The two radar sensor units1for the BSW
and BSI systems are located near the rear
bumper. Always keep the area near the radar
sensors clean. Do not attach stickers (includ-
ing transparent material), install accessories
or apply additional paint near the radar
sensors. Do not strike or damage the area
around the radar sensors. Consult an
INFINITI retailer if the area around the radar
sensors is damaged due to a collision.
● The BSI system uses the same camera

that is used by the LDW/LDP system located
in front of the inside mirror. For maintenance of the camera, see “LANE
DEPARTURE WARNING (LDW) SYSTEM/LANE DE-
PARTURE PREVENTION (LDP) SYSTEM” earlier in
this section.
Radio frequency statement
This device complies with part 15 of the FCC
Rules and RSS-310 of Industry Canada.
Operation is subject to the following two con-
ditions:
1. This device may not cause harmful inter-
ference.
2. This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may
cause undesired operation.
Frequency of operation: 24.05GHz — 24.25GHz
Field Strength: Not greater than 2.5V/m peak
(0.25V/m average) at a distance of 3 m
The manufacturer is not responsible for any
radio or TV interference caused by unauthorized
modifications to this equipment. Such modifi-
cations could void the user’s authority to oper-
ate the equipment.
PRECAUTIONS ON CRUISE CONTROL
●If the cruise control system malfunctions, it
will cancel automatically. The SET indicator
on the dot matrix crystal display will then
blink to warn the driver.
● If the engine coolant temperature becomes
excessively high, the cruise control system
will be canceled automatically.
● If the SET indicator blinks, turn the cruise
control main switch off and have the system
checked by your INFINITI retailer.
● The SET indicator may sometimes blink
when the cruise control main switch is
turned ON while pushing the
RESUME/ACCELERATE, SET/COAST or CAN-
CEL switch. To properly set the cruise control
system, perform the steps below in the order
indicated.
WARNING
Do not use the cruise control when driving un-
der the following conditions:
● when it is not possible to keep the vehicle at
a set speed
● in heavy traffic or in traffic that varies in
speed
● on winding or hilly roads

VEHICLE-TO-VEHICLE DISTANCE
CONTROL MODE
In the vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode,
the Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) system auto-
matically maintains a selected distance from
the vehicle traveling in front of you according to
that vehicle’s speed (up to the set speed), or at
the set speed when the road ahead is clear.
With ICC, the driver can maintain the same
speed as other vehicles without the constant
need to adjust the set speed as you would with
a normal cruise control system.
PRECAUTIONS ON VEHICLE-TO-
VEHICLE DISTANCE CONTROL MODE
The system is intended to enhance the opera-
tion of the vehicle when following a vehicle
traveling in the same lane and direction.
If the distance sensor
Adetects a slower
moving vehicle ahead, the system will reduce
the vehicle speed so that your vehicle follows
the vehicle in front at the selected distance.
The system automatically controls the throttle
and applies the brakes (up to 25% of vehicle
braking power) if necessary.
The detection range of the sensor is approxi-
mately 390 ft (120 m) ahead.
WARNING
● This system is only an aid to assist the driver
and is not a collision warning or avoidance
device. It is the driver’s responsibility to stay
alert, drive safely and be in control of the
vehicle at all times.
● The system is primarily intended for use on
straight, dry, open roads with light traffic. It
is not advisable to use the system in city
traffic or congested areas.
● This system will not adapt automatically to
road conditions. This system should be used
in evenly flowing traffic. Do not use the sys-
tem on roads with sharp curves, or on icy
roads, in heavy rain or in fog.
The distance sensor will not detect under most
conditions:
● Stationary and slow moving vehicles
● Pedestrians or objects in the roadway
● Oncoming vehicles in the same lane
● Motorcycles traveling offset in the travel
lane

WARNING
●As there is a performance limit to the dis-
tance control function, never rely solely on
the Intelligent Cruise Control system. This
system does not correct careless, inatten-
tive or absent-minded driving, or overcome
poor visibility in rain, fog, or other bad
weather. Decelerate the vehicle speed by de-
pressing the brake pedal, depending on the
distance to the vehicle ahead and the sur-
rounding circumstances in order to maintain
a safe distance between vehicles.
● If the vehicle ahead comes to a stop, the
vehicle decelerates to a standstill within the
limitations of the system. The system will
cancel once it judges that the vehicle has
come to a standstill and sound a warning
chime. To prevent the vehicle from moving,
the driver must depress the brake pedal.
● The system may not detect the vehicle in
front of you in certain road or weather condi-
tions. To avoid accidents, never use the In-
telligent Cruise Control system under the
following conditions:
– On roads where the traffic is heavy or there are sharp curves
– On slippery road surfaces such as on ice or snow, etc. – During bad weather (rain, fog, snow, etc.)
When the windshield wiper is operated at
the high speed (HI) position, the Intelli-
gent Cruise Control system is automati-
cally canceled. If the vehicle is equipped
with a rain sensing auto wiper, the system
may cancel when the wipers are set to the
AUTO position.
– When strong light (for example, at sun- rise or sunset) is directly shining on the
front of the vehicle
– When rain, snow or dirt adhere to the sys- tem sensor
– On steep downhill roads (the vehicle may go beyond the set vehicle speed and fre-
quent braking may result in overheating
the brakes)
– On repeated uphill and downhill roads
– When traffic conditions make it difficult to keep a proper distance between vehicles
because of frequent acceleration or
deceleration
● Do not use the Intelligent Cruise Control sys-
tem if you are towing a trailer. The system
may not detect a vehicle ahead. ●
In some road or traffic conditions, a vehicle
or object can unexpectedly come into the
sensor detection zone and cause automatic
braking. You may need to control the dis-
tance from other vehicles using the accelera-
tor pedal. Always stay alert and avoid using
the ICC system when it is not recommended
in this section.

VEHICLE-TO-VEHICLE DISTANCE
CONTROL MODE OPERATION
Always pay attention to the operation of the
vehicle and be ready to manually control the
proper following distance. The vehicle-to-
vehicle distance control mode of the Intelligent
Cruise Control (ICC) system may not be able to
maintain the selected distance between ve-
hicles (following distance) or selected vehicle
speed under some circumstances.
The vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode
uses a sensor
Alocated on the front of the
vehicle to detect vehicles traveling ahead. The
sensor generally detects the signals returned
from the reflectors on a vehicle ahead. There-
fore, if the sensor cannot detect the reflector on the vehicle ahead, the ICC system may not
maintain the selected distance.
The following are some conditions in which the
sensor cannot detect the signals:

When the reflector of the vehicle ahead is
positioned high on the vehicle (trailer, etc.)
● When the reflector on the vehicle ahead is
missing, damaged or covered
● When the reflector of the vehicle ahead is
covered with dirt, snow and road spray
● When the snow or road spray from traveling
vehicles reduces the sensor’s visibility
● When dense exhaust or other smoke (black
smoke) from vehicles reduces the sensor’s
visibility
● When excessively heavy baggage is loaded
in the rear seat or the trunk of your vehicle
The ICC system is designed to automatically
check the sensor’s operation within the limita-
tions of the system. When the sensor is covered
with dirt or obstructs, the system will automati-
cally be canceled. If the sensor is covered with
ice, a transparent or translucent vinyl bag, etc.,
the ICC system may not detect them. In these
instances, the vehicle-to-vehicle distance con-
trol mode may not cancel and may not be able
to maintain the selected following distance from the vehicle ahead. Be sure to check and
clean the sensor regularly.
The vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode is
designed to maintain a selected distance and
reduce the speed to match the slower vehicle
ahead; the system will decelerate the vehicle as
necessary and if the vehicle ahead comes to a
stop, the vehicle decelerates to a standstill.
However, the ICC system can only apply up to
25% of the vehicles total braking power. This
system should only be used when traffic condi-
tions allow vehicle speeds to remain fairly
constant or when vehicle speeds change gradu-
ally. If a vehicle moves into the traveling lane
ahead or if a vehicle traveling ahead rapidly
decelerates, the distance between vehicles may
become closer because the ICC system cannot
decelerate the vehicle quickly enough. If this
occurs, the ICC system will sound a warning
chime and blink the system display to notify the
driver to take necessary action.
The system will cancel and a warning chime will
sound if the speed is below approximately 15
MPH ( 24 km/h) and a vehicle is not detected
ahead. The system will also disengage when
the vehicle goes above the maximum set speed.
