Climate Control Auto Function
Press AUTO to select Full Auto Operation. The Auto setting automatically controls the air flow modes, fan speeds, air intake and air conditioning according to the temperature setting selected. Turn temperature control knob A to the desired temperature.
Auto Defogging System: Auto defogging is designed to reduce the fogging up of the inside of the windshield by automatically sensing the moisture of the inside of the windshield. The
system will automatically change to defrost mode when needed.
Auto Defogging is set ON by default. To cancel Auto Defogging, press and hold the Front Defrost button for three seconds when the vehicle power is on (the defrost button light will flash three times and the ADS OFF icon will illuminate). To turn Auto Defogging on again, press and hold the Front Defrost button again for three seconds and the defrost button light will flash 6 times and ADS OFF icon will turn off.
Driver Only Ventilation: Driver Only Ventilation restricts air flow to the driver ’s side vents only. This can help to optimize driving range by limiting the power drawn from the battery. Press DRIVER ONLY button G to enable air flow through the driver ’s side vents only.
Defrost Outside and/or Inside Windshield:
1. Set Front Fan Speed I to the highest position
2. Set Temperature to Hot A

REMINDERS:

As a bulb check, the EPB malfunction indicator will illuminate for approximately 3 seconds when the ignition switch is turned ON

If the warning light does not illuminate temporarily, or continues to remain lit, take your vehicle to an authorized Kia dealer and have the system checked
•The EPB should not be operated while the vehicle is moving
•
A click or electric brake motor sound may be heard while operating or releasing the EPB, but these conditions are normal and indicate that the EPB is functioning properly

Auto Hold temporarily maintains the vehicle at a standstill even if the brake pedal is released. Auto Hold can be turned ON/OFF using the AUTO HOLD switch B on the center panel. Before Auto Hold will operate, the driver ’s door, engine hood and trunk must be closed, and the driver ’s seat belt must be fastened.
The Auto Hold indicator has four states:
Standby (white): With vehicle in Park and at a standstill, and AUTO HOLD switch B turned ON, the indicator will illuminate white. While driving the vehicle (vehicle is not at a standstill), the Auto Hold indicator will remain white.
Engaged (green): When coming to a complete stop and depressing the brake pedal, the Auto Hold indicator changes from white to green.
OFF (not illuminated): The indicator will turn OFF when the AUTO HOLD switch B is turned OFF or when the EPB is manually turned ON.
Malfunction (yellow): When the indicator is illuminated yellow, there may be a system malfunction. Take your vehicle to a local Kia dealer.

Applying the Parking Brake
Pull up the EPB switch A. Ensure that the indicator light is illuminated on the instrument cluster.
Releasing the Parking Brake
The EPB will automatically release when the brake pedal is engaged and shifter is shifted out of P (Park) to D (Drive), or to R (Reverse) or shifted out of N (Neutral) to D (Drive), or to Reverse.
Manually, depress the brake pedal, then press the EPB switch A
down with the ignition switch in the ON position. Ensure that the indicator light is OFF.

Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) with Door Monitoring†1 1
Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) with Door Monitoring can help alert the driver when a rear passenger may be left in the vehicle. The alert will be a message on the Instrument Cluster LCD stating to “Check rear seats” B and an alert will sound.
The factory default is set to OFF. To turn the system ON or OFF, go to Vehicle Settings on the Infotainment System by selecting VEHICLE, then select Convenience, then Rear Occupant Alert and check/uncheck the box.
REMINDERS:
•
Always be sure to check the passenger areas before leaving the vehicle
•
ROA uses a rear door opened/closed histor y, which is reset after the driver turns the vehicle off, exits the vehicle and locks the door remotely. So even if a rear door does not reopen, Rear Occupant Aler t (ROA) aler t can occur

When engaged, Rear Occupant Aler t is not a substitute for one’s at tention and may not detect all movement within the vehicle. Always check the vehicle interior when exiting the vehicle.

Folding Rear Seats
To Fold:
1. Ensure the belt strap is out of way of the Seatback folding
2. Adjust the Front Seatback to the upright position and lower the rear headrest(s) to the lowest position
3. Pull on the Rear Seat recliner lever A, then fold the seat toward the front
To Unfold:
1. Pull the Rear Seat recliner lever A and lift the Seatback backward until it clicks firmly in place
2. Return the rear seat belt to the proper position
REMINDER: Always make sure the Seatback is locked in place when unfolded.

Operation
Manual Type - To unlock the driver ’s door, with the Smart Key in your possession:
•Push the engraved button C on the door handle – the hazard lights will blink twice, a chime will sound twice, and the door unlocks
•Press on the front of the door handle. Then the rear handle will pop out
•Pull on the door handle to open the door
To lock the doors using the Smart Key, press the lock button D.
Electric type - When the “Approach Unlock ” feature is activated in Vehicle Settings, the door handles will pop out when you approach the vehicle with the Smart Key in your possession. To activate the “Approach Unlock ” feature, press the SETUP button/key on the infotainment system. Select VEHICLE, then DOOR and select ACTIVATE APPROACH UNLOCK
When you’re within one foot of the vehicle with the Smart Key in your possession, the outside door handles will slide out, the doors will unlock, the Hazard Warning Flashers will blink twice, and a chime will sound twice. Then pull the door handle to open the door.
To lock the electric door handles, press the sensor/engraved button C on the door handle or use the lock button on the Smart Key.

Auto Open (Opening with no-touch activation):
When the Smart Key fob is on your person and you are near the back of the vehicle, within close proximity, the hazard lights will blink and a chime will sound for about 3 seconds as an alert that the Smart Power Liftgate is about to open.
Then the alert system will blink and chime two additional times before opening the Smart Power Liftgate.
Smart Key:
To open the Smart Power Liftgate, press and hold the Smart Key Liftgate button B until the Liftgate begins opening. Press again and hold to close.
Cargo Cover Storage*
To store the Cargo Cover*, close the Cargo Cover and remove it from the slots by pulling the Cargo Cover ends inward D. Remove the luggage box cover.
On the left side, remove the small storage cover E to expose the Cargo Cover storage slot. Insert the Cargo Cover on the right side first. Compress the left end of the Cargo Cover to slide it into the left slot. Replace the small storage cover and the luggage box cover.
REMINDERS:

Smar t Power Liftgate may be damaged if at tempting to open or close manually
•
If going through a car wash, remind the at tendant to keep the vehicle in Neutral (N) and keep the engine running. Also, disable the Smar t Power Liftgate lid control using the but ton inside the glove compar tment, turn off the auto rain-sensing wipers and fold in the mirrors
•
Ensure all obstacles are out of the way of the liftgate lid when operating the Smar t Power Liftgate
•The default liftgate opening/closing speed is set to fast

Sunroof Operation Video

The Sunroof and Sunshade operation is controlled through a multidirectional switch/lever, and the ignition needs to be in the ON position to operate the Sunroof/Sunshade.
Slide the Sunshade and Sunroof:

Slide the Sunroof (with Sunshade open):

Map Lamp/Room Lamp Operation

Press lens A to turn the Driver ’s/Passenger ’s Map Lamps ON/OFF. This light produces a spot beam for convenient use as a map lamp or as a personal lamp for the driver or the front passenger

Press button B to turn all the Map/Room Lamps ON/OFF

Press button C to turn the Map/Room Lamp ON for 30 seconds when a door is opened, unlocked from Smart Key or the ignition is turned OFF.
Sunroof Operation

Passenger Airbag Off Indicator†2
ODS is designed to detect the presence and position of the front passenger and adjusts or turns off airbag deployment accordingly.
Depending on the situation and type of accident, the system may:
•Deploy airbag (Adult)
•Not deploy the airbag (Unoccupied)
If the system determines that the airbag should not be deployed, the “PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF” light A will illuminate.
REMINDERS:
•
Do not allow an adult passenger to ride in the front seat when the Passenger Airbag Indicator is illuminated OFF because the airbag will not deploy in the event of a crash. The driver must instruct the passenger to reposition her/himself in the seat, or move to another seat in the vehicle
•

Seat belt retractor locks:
Retractor locks allow lap/shoulder seat belts to remain unlocked during normal vehicle operation for freedom of movement and increased comfort.
During a STRONG STOP, SUDDEN TURN OR CERTAIN COLLISIONS, seat belt retractors will automatically lock the belts to reduce the risk of injury.

If the vehicle is still moving, you can restart the power by pressing the Power button with the shift lever in Neutral (N). With the power off, hydraulic power assist for steering and braking will be disabled and the vehicle will be more difficult to control.11.
