Lane Keeping Assist malfunc-
tion
If there is a problem with the func-tion a message will appear. If the
problem continues Lane Keeping
Assist failure indicator will illumi-
nate.
Lane Safety indicator
Lane Safety indicator (yellow) will illu-
minate if Lane Keeping Assist is not
working properly. If this occurs, have
the function checked by an authorized
Kia dealer. Lane Keeping Assist will be canceled
when:
You change lanes with the turn sig-
nal.
- Using the turn signal to changelanes.
- If you change lanes without the turn signal on, the steering wheel
might be controlled.
Lane Keeping Assist can transition to steering assist mode when the
car is near to middle of the lane
after function on or the lane was
changed. Lane Keeping Assist can
not assist steering if the vehicle fol-
lows lane marker too close contin-
uously before transition to steering
assist mode.
The control of ESC (Electronic Stability Control) or VSM (Vehicle
Stability Management) is activated.
The steering will not be assisted when your drive fast on a sharp
curve.

The steering will not be assisted
when vehicle speed is below 34
mph (55 km/h) and over 125 mph
(200 km/h).
The steering will not be assisted when you change lanes fast.
The steering will not be assisted when you brake suddenly.
The steering will not be assisted when the lane is very wide or nar-
row.
The steering will not be assisted when only one side lane marker is
detected.
There are more than two lane markers such as a construction
area.
Radius of a curve is too small.
When you turn steering wheel sud- denly, Lane Keeping Assist will be
disabled temporarily.
Driving on a steep slope or hill.DRIVER’S ATTENTION
The driver must be cautious in the
below situations as the function may
not work properly when recognition
of the lane marker is poor or limited
:
When lane and road condition is
poor
• It is difficult to distinguish the lane marker from road when the lane
marker is covered with dust or
sand.
• It is difficult to distinguish the color of the lane marker from
road.
• There is something looks like a lane marker.
• The lane marker is indistinct or damaged.
• The number of lanes increases/ decreases or the lane lines are
crossing (Driving through a toll
plaza/toll gate, merged/divided
lane).
• There are more than two lane markers.
• The lane marker is very thick or thin. (Continued)(Continued)
• The lane marker is not visible due
to snow, rain, stain, a puddle or
other factors.
• A shadow is on the lane marker because of a median strip,
guardrail, noise barriers and oth-
ers.
• When the lane markers are com- plicated or a structure substitutes
for the lines such as a construc-
tion area.
• There are crosswalk signs or other symbols on the road.
• The lane suddenly disappears such as at the intersection.
• The lane marker in a tunnel is cov- ered with dirt or oil and etc.
• The lane is very wide or narrow.
When external condition is inter-
vened
• The brightness of outside changes suddenly when entering/existing a
tunnel or passing under a bridge.
• The headlamps are not on at night or in a tunnel, or light level is low. (Continued)

✽ ✽NOTICE
• During normal Cruise Control
operation, when the SET- switch is
activated or reactivated after apply-
ing the brakes, Cruise Control will
energize after approximately 3 sec-
onds. This delay is normal.
• To activate Cruise Control, depress the brake pedal at least once after
placing the ignition switch or
ENGINE START/STOP button to
the ON position or starting the
engine. This is to check if the brake
switch which is important part to
cancel Cruise Control is in normal
condition.
Driving Assist button
CRUISE : Turns Cruise Control on or
off.
RES+ : Resumes or increases
Cruise Control speed.
SET- : Sets or decreases Cruise Control speed.
CANCEL : Cancels Cruise Control
operation.
To set Cruise Control speed:
1. Press the Driving Assist button on
the steering wheel, to turn the
function on. The cruise indicator
light will illuminate.
2. Accelerate to the desired speed, which must be more than approxi-
mately 20 mph (30 km/h).

To temporarily accelerate with
Cruise Control on:
If you want to speed up temporarily
when Cruise Control is on, depress
the accelerator pedal. Increased
speed will not interfere with Cruise
Control operation or change the set
speed.
To return to the set speed, take your
foot off the accelerator pedal.
To cancel Cruise Control, do
one of the following:
• Depress the brake pedal.
Shift into N (Neutral) if equippedwith an Dual clutch transmission.
Press the CANCEL button located on the steering wheel.
Decrease the vehicle speed lower than the memory speed by approx-
imately 12 mph (20 km/h).
Decrease the vehicle speed to less than approximately 15 mph (25 km/h).
Each of these actions will cancelCruise Control operation (the
cruise
set
indicator light will go off), but it
will not turn the function off. If you wish to resume Cruise Control oper-ation, move up the switch (to RES+)located on your steering wheel. Youwill return to your previously presetspeed.

Collision Warning
If there is a high risk of collision due
to sudden braking of the front vehicle
or lack of safety distance with the
vehicle ahead during Smart Cruise
Control driving, so that if the driver's
brake or steering wheel operation is
required, the Distance Step with the
vehicle ahead will blink on the cluster
and a Collision Warning will sound.
In this case, immediately reduce the
speed.

CAUTION
Even if the warning message
does not appear and warningchime does not sound, alwayspay attention to driving condi-tions to prevent dangeroussituations from occurring.
Playing the vehicle audio sys- tem at high volume may causethe occupants to not hear thefunction warning sounds.
If the vehicle cannot keep the enough set distance, thewarning will sound and blinkon the cluster. If a warningsounds, check the nearby traf-fic condition and if necessary,control the speed by depress-ing the brake. Always payattention in case of danger,even if there are no warningsound.

than your vehicle, the function

A vehicle ahead cannot be recog-
nized correctly by the sensor if any of
following occurs:
- When the vehicle is pointing
upwards due to overloading in the
liftgate (tailgate)
- While making turns by steering
- When driving to one side of the lane
- When driving on narrow lanes or on curves
Adjust your vehicle speed by
depressing the brake pedal accord-
ing to the road condition ahead and
driving condition. When vehicles are at a standstill
and the vehicle in front of you
changes to the next lane, be care-
ful when your vehicle starts to
move because it may not recognize
the stopped vehicle in front of you.
In this case, you must maintain a
safe braking distance, and if nec-
essary, depress the brake pedal to
reduce your driving speed in order
to maintain a safe distance. Always look out for pedestrian
when your vehicle is maintaining a
distance with the vehicle ahead.

Lane Following Assist is designed to
center the vehicle in the chosen lane
by using a front view camera (1) on
top of the windshield.
It can only become active in combi-
nation with Smart Cruise Control
and therefore assists the driver in his
task to control the lateral movement
of the vehicle.
* LFA stands for Lane Following
Assist.
LANE FOLLOWING ASSIST (LFA) (IF EQUIPPED)

WARNING
It is the driver's responsibility to operate the steering wheel
for safe driving.
Do not turn the steering wheel hastily if Lane Following
Assist is operating.
Lane Following Assist assists the steering wheel control so
that the vehicle can stay in the
center of the lane. Lane
Following Assist does not
automatically control the
steering wheel at all times,
which means the driver must
keep hands on the wheel at all
times while driving.
When using Lane Following Assist, always be aware of
surroundings and road condi-
tions that may interrupt or
stop Lane Following Assist.
CAUTION
- Do not attach glass tinting, stickers, accessories to thewindshield where the frontview camera near the indoormirror is placed.
- The removal or re-assembly of the front view camera toattach tinting, stickers, acces-sories may require LaneFollowing Assist to be thor-oughly inspected and modi-fied. In such case, have yourvehicle inspected by anauthorized Kia dealer.
- Inspection or modification may be required when replac-ing parts related to the wind-shield or front view camera,steering. we recommend thatthe function be checked by anauthorized Kia dealer.

Lane Following Assist opera-
tion
To use Lane Following Assist two
steps are necessary:
(1) Lane Following Assist has to beenabled, and
(2) Smart Cruise Control has to be activated
Select or release the setting from “User setting Driver Assistance
Driving Assist Lane Following
Assist”. Select Lane Following
Assist in the user setting of the
instrument panel.
Press the Lane Driving Assist but- ton ( ) located on the steering
wheel to turn on Lane Following
Assist.

- Depending on your surround- ings and road conditions,Lane Following Assist couldfail to recognize the lane andstop working. In turn, extracaution is required while driv-ing with Lane FollowingAssist on.
- Be sure to check the non- operating conditions and cau-tions for the driver beforeusing Lane Following Assist.
- Do not place reflective materi- als such as white paper ormirror on the crash pad.Sunlight reflections can causea malfunction in LaneFollowing Assist.
- Too big sound from the sound function can interrupt thealarming sound from LaneFollowing Assist.

Lane Following Assist status is
remembered by the function and
therefore does not need to be
enabled again for each new journey. Once the function starts working, the
indicator light ( ) comes on the
instrument panel.
The indicator light colors according
to the function status are as follows.
Green: Active
White: Standby
Lane Following Assist activation
If the vehicle is inside the lane with
both lanes recognized by the func-
tion, and there is no steep steering
made by the driver, Lane Following
Assist changes into steering assist
mode. The indicator light will come
on green, and the function helps the
vehicle stay in line by controlling the
steering wheel.
When the steering wheel is not con-
trolled temporarily, the indicator light
will flash green and changes to white.
When the both lanes are not recog-
nized by the function, the function
controls the steering wheel limitedly
whether there is a vehicle in front or
not.

Warning
If you keep your hands off the wheel
while driving with Lane Following
Assist assisting the steering, the
hands-off warning will be triggered.
If the driver keeps hands off the
wheel even with the hands-off warn-
ing on, the steering assist is tem-
porarily released automatically.
If you put your hands back on the
wheel with Lane Following Assist
released, the steering assist will re-
start.
