Immobilizer system (if equipped)
Your vehicle may be equipped with an
electronic engine immobilizer system to
reduce the risk of unauthorized vehicle
use.
Your immobilizer system is comprised of
a small transponder in the ignition key
and electronic devices inside the vehicle.
With the immobilizer system, whenever
you insert your ignition key into the igni-
tion switch and turn it to ON, it checks
and determines and verifies if the ignition
key is valid or not.
If the key is determined to be valid, the
engine will start.
If the key is determined to be invalid, the
engine will not start.
To deactivate the immobilizer sys-tem:
Insert the ignition key into the key cylin-
der and turn it to the ON position.
To activate the immobilizer system:
Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.
The immobilizer system activates auto-
matically. Without a valid ignition key for
your vehicle, the engine will not start.
✽✽ NOTICE
When starting the engine, do not use the
key with other immobilizer keys around.Otherwise the engine may not start or
may stop soon after it starts. Keep each
key separately in order to avoid a start-ing malfunction.

✽ NOTICE
If you need additional keys or lose your
keys, consult an authorized KIA dealer.

CAUTION
Do not put metal accessories near the ignition switch. Metal acces- sories may interrupt the transpon-
der signal and may prevent the engine from being started.
WARNING
In order to prevent theft of your
vehicle, do not leave spare keys
anywhere in your vehicle. Your
Immobilizer password is a cus-
tomer unique password and should
be kept confidential. Do not leave
this number anywhere in your vehi-
cle.

to indicate that all doors are unlocked.
After depressing this button, the doors
will be locked automatically unless you
open any door within 30 seconds.
CAUTION
The transponder in your ignition
key is an important part of theimmobilizer system. It is designed to give years of trouble-free service,
however you should avoid expo-sure to moisture, static electricityand rough handling. Immobilizer system malfunction could occur.
CAUTION
Do not change, alter or adjust theimmobilizer system because itcould cause the immobilizer sys-
tem to malfunction and should only be serviced by an authorized KIAdealer.
Malfunctions caused by improperalterations, adjustments or modifi-
cations to the immobilizer system are not covered by your vehiclemanufacturer warranty.

Low fuel level warning
This warning light indicates the fuel tank
is nearly empty. When it comes on, you
should add fuel as soon as possible.
Driving with the fuel level warning light on
or with the fuel level below “0” can causethe engine to misfire and damage the
catalytic converter (if equipped). D150320AUN-U1
Malfunction indicator lamp
(MIL) (check engine light) (if equipped)
This indicator is part of the Engine
Control System which monitors various
emission control system components. If
this indicator illuminates while driving, itindicates that a potential malfunction has
been detected somewhere in the emis-sion control system. This indicator will also illuminates when
the ignition switch is turned to the ON
position, and will go off in a few seconds
after the engine is started. If it illuminates
while driving, or does not illuminate when
the ignition switch is turned to the ON
position, take your vehicle to the nearest
authorized KIA dealer and have the sys-
tem checked.
Generally, your vehicle will continue to be
drivable, but have the system checked by
an authorized KIA dealer promptly.
CAUTION
Prolonged driving with the
Emission Control SystemMalfunction Indicator Light illumi-nated may cause damage to the
emission control systems whichcould effect drivability and/or fuel economy.

If the EmissionControl System
Malfunction Indicator Light illumi- nates, potential catalytic converter damage is possible which couldresult in loss of engine power.
Have the Engine Control Systeminspected as soon as possible by an authorized KIA dealer.
CAUTION - Diesel engine
(if equipped)
If the malfunction indicator light blink-ing, have the Particulate Filter Systeminspected by an authorized KIA deal- er (before driving more than 50 km/31
