REAR PARKING ASSIST SYSTEM (IF EQUIPPED)
0:#%
The rear parking assist system assists
the driver during backward movement of the vehicle by chiming if any object is
sensed within a distance of 120 cm
(47 in.) behind the vehicle.
This system is a supplemental system and it is not intended to nor does it re‐
place the need for extreme care and
attention of the driver. The sensing range and objects detectable by the
back sensors ( ➀) are limited. Whenever
backing-up, pay as much attention to
what is behind you as you would in a
vehicle without a rear parking assist
system.
WARNING
The rear parking assist system is asupplementary function only. Theoperation of the rear parking assistsystem can be affected by severalfactors (including environmentalconditions). It is the responsibility ofthe driver to always check the areabehind the vehicle before and whilebacking up.
Operation of the rear parking
assist system
Operating condition
• This system will activate when back‐ ing up with the ignition switch ON.
If the vehicle is moving at a speed
over 5 km/h (3 mph), the system may not be activated correctly.
• The sensing distance while the rear parking assist system is in operation
is approximately 120 cm (47 in.).
• When more than two objects are sensed at the same time, the closest
one will be recognized first.
Types of warning soundIndicator*
When an object is 120 cm
to 61 cm (47 in. to 24 in.)
from the rear bumper:Buzzer beeps intermit‐tently.
When an object is 60 cm
to 31 cm (23 in. to 12 in.)
from the rear bumper:
Buzzer beeps more fre‐quently.
When an object is within
30 cm (11 in.) of the rearbumper:

NOTICE
The indicator may differ from the il‐
lustration as objects or sensors sta‐
tus.
If the indicator blinks, have the sys‐
tem checked by a professional work‐
shop. Kia recommends to visit an au‐
thorized Kia dealer/service partner.

tween sensors may not be detected
by the sensors.
Always visually check behind the ve‐
hicle when backing up.
Be sure to inform any drivers of the
vehicle that may be unfamiliar with
the system regarding the systems
capabilities and limitations.
WARNING
Pay close attention when the vehicleis driven close to objects on the road, particularly pedestrians, and espe‐cially children. Be aware that someobjects may not be detected by thesensors, due to the object’s distance, size or material, all of which can lim‐it the effectiveness of the sensor.Always perform a visual inspectionto make sure the vehicle is clear ofall obstructions before moving thevehicle in any direction.
Self-diagnosis
If you don’t hear an audible warning
sound or if the buzzer sounds intermit‐
tently when shifting the gear to the R (Reverse) position, this may indicate a
malfunction in the rear parking assist
system. If this occurs, have the system checked by a professional workshop.
Kia recommends to visit an authorized
Kia dealer/service partner.
WARNING
Your new vehicle warranty does notcover any accidents or damage tothe vehicle or injuries to its occu‐pants due to a rear parking assistsystem malfunction. Always drivesafely and cautiously.

Daytime running light (if
equipped)
The Daytime Running Lights (DRL) can
make it easier for others to see the front of your vehicle during the day.
DRL can be helpful in many different
driving conditions, and it is especially helpful after dawn and before sunset. The DRL system turns OFF when: 1. The headlight switch is ON.
2. The engine is OFF.
3. The front fog light is on.
4. Engaging the Parking Brake
Headlight leveling device (if
equipped)
0:#
To adjust the headlight beam level ac‐
cording to the number of the passen‐ gers and loading weight in the luggage
area, turn the beam leveling switch.
The higher the number of the switch
position, the lower the headlight beam level. Always keep the headlight beam
at the proper leveling position, or head‐
lights may dazzle other road users.
Listed below are the examples of prop‐ er switch settings. For loading condi‐
tions other than those listed below, ad‐
just the switch position so that the beam level may be the nearest as the
condition obtained according to the list.

•The vehicle center of gravity willbe higher when items are loadedonto the roof rack. Avoid suddenstarts, braking, sharp turns, abrupt maneuvers or high speedsthat may result in loss of vehiclecontrol or rollover resulting in anaccident.
•Always drive slowly and turn cor‐ners carefully when carrying itemson the roof rack. Severe wind up‐drafts, caused by passing vehiclesor natural causes, can cause sud‐den upward pressure on items loa‐ded on the roof rack. This is espe‐cially true when carrying large, flatitems such as wood panels or mat‐tresses. This could cause the itemsto fall off the roof rack and causedamage to your vehicle or othersaround you.
•To prevent damage or loss of car‐go while driving, check frequentlybefore or while driving to makesure the items on the roof rack aresecurely fastened.
