FUEL FILLER LID
Opening the fuel filler lid

The fuel-filler lid must be opened from
inside the vehicle by pulling up on the fuel-filler lid opener located on the
front floor area on the driver’s seat.
NOTICE
If the fuel filler lid will not open be‐
cause ice has formed around it, tap
lightly or push on the lid to break the
ice and release the lid. Do not pry on
the lid. If necessary, spray around
the lid with an approved de-icer fluid
(do not use radiator anti-freeze) or
move the vehicle to a warm place
and allow the ice to melt.

1. Stop the engine. 2. To open the fuel filler lid, pull up the
fuel filler lid opener.
3. Pull the fuel filler lid (1) out to fully open.
4. To remove the cap, turn the fuel tank cap (2) counterclockwise.
5. Refuel as needed.

Your car uses a roof antenna to receive
both AM and FM broadcast signals. This
antenna is a removable type. To remove the antenna, turn it coun‐
terclockwise. To install the antenna,
turn it clockwise.
CAUTION
•Before entering a place with a lowheight clearance or a car wash, re‐move surely the antenna by rotat‐ing it counterclockwise. If not, theantenna may be damaged.
•When reinstalling your antenna, itis important that it is fully tight‐ened and adjusted to the uprightposition to ensure proper recep‐tion. But it could be folded or re‐moved when parking the vehicle orwhen loading cargo on the roofrack.
•When cargo is loaded on the roofrack, do not place the cargo nearthe antenna pole to ensure properreception.

nChanging a tire
•To prevent vehicle movementwhile changing a tire, always setthe parking brake fully, and al‐ways block the wheel diagonallyopposite the wheel beingchanged.
•We recommend that the wheelsof the vehicle be chocked, andthat no person remain in a vehi‐cle that is being jacked.
6. Loosen the wheel lug nuts counter‐clockwise one turn each, but do not remove any nut until the tire has
been raised off the ground.

7. Place the jack at the front (1) or rear (2) jacking position closest to
the tire you are changing. Place the
jack at the designated locations un‐
der the frame. The jacking posi‐
tions are plates welded to the frame with two tabs and a raised
dot to index with the jack.

To reduce the possibility of injury, besure to use only the jack providedwith the vehicle and in the correctjack position; never use any otherpart of the vehicle for jack support.
8. Insert the jack handle into the jack and turn it clockwise, raising the
vehicle until the tire just clears the
ground. This measurement is ap‐
proximately 30 mm (1.2 in). Before

removing the wheel lug nuts, make
sure the vehicle is stable and that
there is no chance for movement or slippage.
9. Loosen the wheel nuts and remove them with your fingers. Slide the
wheel off the studs and lay it flat
so it cannot roll away. To put the
wheel on the hub, pick up the spare
tire, line up the holes with the studs and slide the wheel onto
them.
If this is difficult, tip the wheel
slightly and get the top hole in the
wheel lined up with the top stud.
Then jiggle the wheel back and
forth until the wheel can be slid
over the other studs.
WARNING
Wheels may have sharp edges. Han‐dle them carefully to avoid possiblesevere injury. Before putting thewheel into place, be sure that thereis nothing on the hub or wheel (suchas mud, tar, gravel, etc.) that inter‐feres with the wheel from fittingsolidly against the hub.

If there is, remove it. If there is notgood contact on the mounting sur‐face between the wheel and hub,the wheel nuts could come loose andcause the loss of a wheel. Loss of awheel may result in loss of control ofthe vehicle. This may cause seriousinjury or death.
10. To reinstall the wheel, hold it on the studs, put the wheel nuts on the
studs and tighten them finger
tight. Jiggle the tire to be sure it is
completely seated, then tighten
the nuts as much as possible with
your fingers again.
11. Lower the vehicle to the ground by turning the wheel nut wrenchcounterclockwise.
Then position the wrench as shown in
the drawing and tighten the wheel nuts. Be sure the socket is seated com‐
pletely over the nut. Do not stand on
the wrench handle or use an extension pipe over the wrench handle. Go around
the wheel tightening every other nut
until they are all tight. Then double- check each nut for tightness. After
changing wheels, have the system
checked by a professional workshop. Kia recommends to visit an authorized
Kia dealer/service partner.

Removable towing hook (if

1. Open the tailgate, and remove thetowing hook from the tool case.
2. Remove the hole cover pressing the upper (front) part of the cover on
the bumper.
3. Install the towing hook by turning it clockwise into the hole until it is
fully secured.
4. Remove the towing hook and install the cover after use.

If towing is necessary, we recommendyou to have it done by an authorizedKia dealer or a commercial tow truckservice. If towing service is not available in an
emergency, your vehicle may be tem‐ porarily towed using a cable or chain
secured to the emergency towing hook
under the front (or rear) of the vehicle. Use extreme caution when towing the
vehicle. A driver must be in the vehicle
to steer it and operate the brakes.
Towing in this manner may be done on‐ ly on hard-surfaced roads for a short
distance and at low speed. Also, the
wheels, axles, power train, steering and brakes must all be in good condition. • Do not use the tow hooks to pull a vehicle out of mud, sand or other
conditions from which the vehicle
cannot be driven out under its own
power.
• Avoid towing a vehicle heavier than the vehicle doing the towing.
• The drivers of both vehicles should communicate with each other fre‐
quently.
CAUTION
•Attach a towing strap to the towhook.

ENGINE COOLANT
The high-pressure cooling system has
a reservoir filled with year round anti‐
freeze coolant. The reservoir is filled at the factory.
Check the antifreeze protection and
coolant level at least once a year, at the
beginning of the winter season, and be‐ fore traveling to a colder climate.
CAUTION
•When the engine overheats fromlow engine coolant, suddenly add‐ing engine coolant may causecracks in the engine. To preventdamage, add engine coolant slowlyin small quantities.
•Do not drive with no engine cool‐ant. It may cause water pump fail‐ure and engine seizure, etc.
Checking the coolant level
WARNING
Removing radiator cap
•Never attempt to remove the radi‐ator cap while the engine is oper‐ating or hot. Doing so might leadto cooling system and engine dam‐age. Also, hot coolant or steamcould cause serious personal in‐jury.
•Turn the engine off and wait untilit cools down. Use extreme carewhen removing the radiator cap.Wrap a thick towel around it, andturn it counterclockwise slowly tothe first stop. Step back while thepressure is released from the cool‐ing system.When you are sure all the pressurehas been released, press down onthe cap, using a thick towel, andcontinue turning counterclockwiseto remove it.

•Even if the engine is not operating,do not remove the radiator cap orthe drain plug while the engine andradiator are hot. Hot coolant andsteam may still blow out underpressure, causing serious injury.
WARNING
The electric motor (cool‐ing fan) is controlled byengine coolant tempera‐ture, refrigerant pressureand vehicle speed.
It may sometimes operate evenwhen the engine is not running. Useextreme caution when working nearthe blades of the cooling fan so thatyou are not injured by a rotating fanblades. As the engine coolant tem‐perature decreases, the electric mo‐tor will automatically shut off. Thisis a normal condition.

If you do not have a spare, use a fuse
of the same rating from a circuit you may not need for operating the vehicle,
such as the cigarette lighter fuse.
If the headlights or taillights, stoplights,
courtesy lamp, day time running lights (D.R.L) do not work and the fuses are
OK, check the fuse panel in the engine
compartment. If a fuse is blown, it must be replaced.
Memory fuse

Your vehicle is equipped with a memory
fuse to prevent battery discharge if your vehicle is parked without being op‐
erated for prolonged periods. Use the
following procedures before parking the
vehicle for prolonged periods. 1. Turn off the engine.
2. Turn off the headlights and tail
lights.
3. Open the driver’s side panel cover and pull up the memory fuse.
NOTICE
•If the memory fuse is pulled up
from the fuse panel, the warning
chime, audio, clock and interior
lamps, etc., will not operate. Some
items must be reset after replace‐
ment. Refer to L

Side repeater lamp (bulb type)
bulb Replacement
1. Remove the lamp assembly fromthe vehicle by prying the lens and
pulling the assembly out.
2. Disconnect the bulb electrical con‐ nector.
3. Separate the socket and the lens parts by turning the socket coun‐
terclockwise until the tabs on the
socket align with the slots on the
lens part.
4. Remove the bulb by pulling it straight out.
5. Insert a new bulb in the socket. 6. Reassemble the socket and the
lens part.
7. Connect the bulb electrical connec‐ tor.
8. Reinstall the lamp assembly to the body of the vehicle.
Headlamp (Low/High beam) bulb
replacement (Headlamp Type A)

1. Open the hood.
2. Remove the headlamp bulb coverby turning it counterclockwise.
3. Disconnect the headlamp bulb socket-connector. 4. Remove the bulb-socket from the
headlamp assembly by turning the
bulb-socket counterclockwise until
the tabs on the bulb-socket align
with the slots on the headlamp as‐
sembly.
5. Install a new bulb-socket assembly in the headlamp assembly by align‐
ing the tabs on the bulb-socket
with the slots in the headlamp as‐
sembly. Push the bulb-socket into
the headlamp assembly and turn
the bulb-socket clockwise.
6. Install the headlamp bulb cover by turning it clockwise.
