Lifting System
This is an hydraulic device enabling to lift the front part of the vehicle when driving at low speed, to allow access to areas with uneven surfaces. The system is composed of the following components: •
Front shock absorbers;
• Electronic control unit (GFA);
• Ascent or descent control button;
• Connecting hoses and electric wires.

Lifting system layout (Fig.1)
A. Front shock absorbers
B. Electronic control unit (GFA)
C. Ascent or descent control button
D. Lifting System
The system can be activated up to the maximum speed of 70 Km/h (30 Km/h for Japan); when it reaches this speed threshold the system will automatically go to the DOWN position. The system is activated:• with engine on only by means of LDAS-32 (109100) to perform diagnosis and operational tests.
• with a speed lower than 70 km/h (30 km/h for Japan).
• when the thrust mode function is not activated.
The system is deactivated:• when there is a problem on the ABS ESP system.
• when there is a problem concerning the UP or DOWN sensor.
• when the electric pump absorption is too high.
• when an incorrect vehicle speed signal is read.
The warning light on the dashboard will blink quickly to signal errors (it blinks slowing during raising/lowering).

During braking the ABS function allows the modulation of the braking force effectively applied to each wheel, thus preventing one or more wheels from becoming blocked, which would otherwise cause the loss of control of the vehicle.
The control unit carries out the corrections to the braking by reading the relative speed of each wheel, obtained by special sensors (pick-up).
To guarantee a good signal quality, the distance between the pick-up and the phonic wheel must be between 0.9
÷ 1.0 mm. The electro-hydraulic control unit carries out all the corrections on the braking, using 4 ISO valves and 4
DUMP valves. When an ISO valve is closed, the disc brake calliper is isolated from the hydraulic pump.
The DUMP valve, on the other hand, is used to reduce the pressure of the corresponding disc brake calliper that
is present in the hydraulic circuit. If, during normal use of the vehicle, the ABS warning light on the dashboard is
switched on and the buzzer sounds at the same time, it means that the ABS control unit has found a fault in the
system. When the warning light is on the ABS does not work; this means that in the vehicle the braking system works
anyway, but the electronic control on the braking is deactivated. $%6V\VWHPYDFXXPUHFRYHU\SXPS
The electric vacuum recovery pump is positioned in the front bumper area and is controlled by the MASTER engine injection control unit only with the engine running.
Its operation is determined by a pressure sensor that calculates its drop and makes the pump cut in to maintain the vacuum. Its operation can be checked by means of the LaRa-AS engine control unit “01” Basic setting 8 (109000).

The adjustment of this component is critical, ensure that the switch is open when the pedal is at rest position. Simply check whether or not the brake lights are on.
