The control unit continuously adjusts the system according to driver and passenger requests (RH and LH). In particular:•It acquires information on internal (RH and LH) and outside temperature and on solar irradiation intensity by
means of special sensors.
• It sets the speed of the air entering the passenger compartment by means of the fan.
•  ,WFRQWUROVWKHRSHQLQJFORVLQJRIWKHDLUGLVWULEXWLRQÀDSV
• It controls air recirculation by means of an actuator.
• It controls the incoming hot air temperature by means of two solenoid valves (RH and LH) and a circulation
pump.
• It controls compressor activation.
•  ,WFRQWUROVULJKWIDQRSHUDWLRQRQWKHFRQGHQVHUUDGLDWRU
The control unit ( A-Fig.10) implements the heat regulating strategies according to input received from the following
sensors:• outside air temperature ( B-Fig.10)
• internal air temperature (RH and LH) ( C-Fig.10)
• Vent outlet air temperature ( D-Fig.10)
• Solar irradiation ( E-Fig.10)
The control unit memory contains a resident program, composed of a set of strategies, each of which manages a VSHFL¿FIXQFWLRQRIWKHFRQWUROV\VWHP
The strategies process a set of parameters by means of the above inputs and memorized data maps. These
parameters control the system actuators (outputs), that is those devices causing the system to reach and hold a comfortable temperature inside the passenger compartment. The devices are the following:• Air distribution actuator ( F-Fig.10)
• Motor fan ( G-Fig.10)
• Recirculation actuator ( H-Fig.10)

3UHOLPLQDU\RSHUDWLRQV •Start the engine at idle speed with the hood closed for approximately 15 min. and with the A/C system fan
on maximum speed. This operation facilitates the movement of oil mixed with coolant and heats the system, preventing freezing during collection.
• Turn off the engine.
• Disassemble the engine compartment left side panels  and remove the LIE control unit.  
• Connect the LP pipe (BLUE) ( $)LJ RIWKHGUDLQHTXLSPHQWDQGUH¿OOWKHV\VWHPDWWKHRXWOHW %)LJ) on the
compressor’s intake pipe.
• Connect the HP pipe (RED) ( &)LJ RIWKHGUDLQHTXLSPHQWDQGUH¿OOWKHV\VWHPDWWKHRXWOHW ')LJ) on the
compressor’s delivery pipe.
'UDLQLQJWKHV\VWHP 1. Activate the equipment’s coolant collection phase.
2. Drain the system slowly to prevent the formation of ice inside the expansion valve and oil leakage from the
compressor.
3. Check the amount of oil collected in the equipment’s container.
&UHDWLQJWKHYDFXXP 1. After draining the system completely, bleed the air from the coolant charging cylinder and system.
A vacuum of approximately
LP=-0.98 (bar) and HP=-0.2 (bar) in the system is required according to the device
used.
Check system tightness for at least 15 minutes after eliminating all the air from the system.
