When the vehicle has run out of fuel and the hybrid system cannot be started, refuel the
vehicle with at least enough gasoline to make the low fuel level warning light go off. If there is
only a small amount of fuel, the hybrid system may not be able to start. (The standard amount
of fuel is about 2.4 gal. [9.0 L, 2.0 Imp.gal.], when the vehicle is on a level surface. This value
may vary when the vehicle is on a slope. Add extra fuel when the vehicle is inclined.)
A message is automatically displayed when a ma lfunction occurs in the hybrid system or an
improper operation is attempted.
If a warning message is shown on the multi-
information display, read the message and
follow the instructions.

By selecting menu icons on the multi-infor-
mation display, a variety of driving-related
information can be displayed. The multi-
information display can also be used to
change display settings and other vehicle

Turn the mechanical key clockwise to open.
1Ensure that the shift lever is in P and depress the brake pedal.
2Touch the Lexus emblem side of the
electronic key to the power switch.
When the electronic key is detected, a
buzzer sounds and the power switch
will turn to ON mode.
When the smart access system with
pushbutton start is deactivated in cus-
tomization setting, the power switch
will turn to ACCESSORY mode.
3Firmly depress the brake pedal and check that is shown on the multi-informa-
tion display.
4Press the power switch shortly and firmly.
In the event that the hybrid system still cann ot be started, contact your Lexus dealer.
Opening the trunk
Starting the hybrid system
If the electronic key battery becomes deplet ed, a warning message will be shown on the
multi-information display. Replace the battery with a new one. For instructions on replacing
the battery, refer to the “OWNER’S MANUAL”.
If you need further assistance, contact your Lexus dealer.
