Do not modify, remove or disable the hy brid vehicle immobilizer system. If any
unauthorized changes or modifications are made, the proper operation of the sys-
tem cannot be guaranteed.

The hybrid vehicle immobilizer system may not have been deactivated. (P.

■When the power switch indicator flashes in amber
The system may be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus
deal

■If the “READY” light does not come on
If the “READY” light does not come on when you press the power switch with the
shi
ft lever in “P” and the brake pedal pressed, contact your Lexus dealer immedi -
ately.
■Auto power OFF function
The power switch will automatically turn OFF when lef
t in “ACC” mode for 1 hour or
more.
■When the ambient temperature is low
Such as during winter driving conditions, it
may take time until the “READY” light
comes on.

5-2. Steps to take in an emergency
If the hybrid system will not start
If the hybrid system will not start even though correct starting procedures
are being followed (
P. 1 0 1), consider each of the following points.
■The hybrid system will not start ev en if you are carrying the cor-
rect electronic key
One of the following may be the cause of the problem.
● The electr
onic key battery may be discharged. ( P. 1 8 )
● Ther
e may not be sufficient fuel in the vehicle’s tank. 
Add fuel to the vehicle.
● Ther
e may be a malfunction in the steering lock system.
● Ther
e may be a malfunction in the hybrid vehicle immobilizer sys -
tem. 

■ The interior lights and headlights ar
e dim, or the horn does not
sound or sounds at a low volume
One of the following may be the cause of the problem.
● The 12 v
