Pre-collision braking enabled
The “PCS” warning light turns on
when pre-
collision braking is dis-
abled.
■ AVS (Adaptive Variable Suspensi on System) control (if equipped)
When the system determines that there is a high possibility of a fron-
tal collision, the AVS optimizes the damping effect ( →P. 325)
■ Driver monitor sys tem (if equipped)
When the system determines that there is a possibility of a frontal
collision, and the driver is not facing forward, PCS warnings are
given in advance to warn the driver. If the driver continues to be not
facing forward, and a high possibility of a frontal collision is detected,
PCS informs the driver of high possibility of a frontal collision by
performing slight braking to provide a physically warning (pre-colli-
sion alert braking). ( →P. 3 4 9 )

2-4. Using other driving systems
GX460_OM_OM60J63U_(U)
■Situations in which the pre-collision system does not function properly
The system may not function effectively in situations such as the following:
●On roads with sharp bends or uneven surfaces
●If a vehicle suddenly moves in front of your vehicle, such as at an intersection
●If a vehicle suddenly cuts in front of your vehicle, such as when overtaking
●In inclement weather such as heavy rain, fog, snow or sand storms
●When your vehicle is skidding with the VSC system off
●When an extreme change in vehicle height occurs
●When the axis of the radar is out of adjustment
■Automatic cancelation of the pre-collision system
When a malfunction occurs due to sensor contaminations, etc. that results in the
sensors being unable to detect obstacles, the pre-collision system will be automati-
cally disabled. In this case, the system will not activate even if there is a collision pos-
sibility.
■Obstacles not detected
The system cannot detect plastic obstacles such as pylons. There may also be occa-
sions when the system cannot detect pedestrians, animals, bicycles, motorcycles,
trees, or snowdrifts.
■When there is a malfunction in the system
Warning lights and/or warning messages will turn on or flash. (→P. 6 9 3 , 7 0 5 )

4-3. Do-it-yourself maintenance
GX460_OM_OM60J63U_(U)
■When to replace your vehicle’s tires
Tires should be replaced if:
●You have tire damage such as cuts, splits, cracks deep enough to expose the
fabric or bulges indicating internal damage
●A tire goes flat repeatedly or cannot be properly repaired due to the size or
location of a cut or other damage
If you are not sure, consult with your Lexus dealer.
■Replacing tires and wheels
If the ID code of the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter is not registered,
the tire pressure warning system will not work properly. After driving for about 20
minutes, the tire pressure warning light come s on after blinking for 1 minute to indi-
cate a system malfunction.
■Tire lif e
Any tire over 6 years old must be checked by a qualified technician even if they
have seldom or never been used or damage is not obvious.
■If the tread on snow tires wears down below 0.16 in. (4 mm) on snow tires
The effectiveness of the tire as snow tires is lost.
■Maximum load of tire
Check that the number given by dividing the maximum load by 1.10 of the replace-
ment tire is greater than 1 /2 of the Gross Axle Weight Ratings (GAWR) of either
the front axle or the rear axle, whichever is greater.
For the GAWR, see the Certification Label.
For the maximum load of the tire, see the load
limit at maximum cold tire inflation pressure
mentioned on the sidewall of the tire.
