Operating the windows and moon roof
The windows and moon roof can be opened using a
wireless key from outside the vehicle.*
NOTE: * The windows and moon roof can be set inoperative. Ask your Lexus dealer for details.
Push the ªUNLOCKº button until the windows and moon roof
start to move. A beep sounds just before opening. When you
release the button, the windows and moon roof stop opening.

 Take care not to select the wrong button, or the seat
could strike the rear passenger or hit your body
against the steering wheel. If this happens, you can
stop the movement by pressing another driving
position memory switch.

Cassette tape player operation
(a) Playing a cassette tape
When you insert a cassette tape, the exposed tape should
face to the right.
The player will automatically start when you insert a cassette
tape. At this time, ªTAPEº appears on the display.
To stop or eject the cassette tape, push the ªEJECTº button.
Auto±reverse feature: After the cassette player reaches the
end of a tape, it automatically reverses and begins to play the
other side, regardless of whether the cassette was playing or
fast forwarding.
If a cassette is already in the slot, push the ªT APEº button.
Dolby Noise Reduction* feature: If you are listening to a
tape that was recorded with Dolby  Noise Reduction, push the
ª
º button. The display will indicate that the Dolby noise
reduction system is on.
The Dolby NR mode reduces tape noise by about 10 dB. For
best sound reproduction, play your tapes with the Dolby NR on
or off according to the mode used for recording the tape.
To play a tape recorded without Dolby NR, push the button
again to turn off the Dolby NR.

Cassette tape player operation
(a) Playing a cassette tape
Push the ªON/SOURCEº button to choose tape mode.
The player will automatically start. At this time, ªTAPEº
appears on the display.
You can play a cassette tape when a cassette tape is loaded
in the front audio system.
Auto±reverse feature: After the cassette player reaches the
end of a tape, it automatically reverses and begins to play the
other side, regardless of whether the cassette was playing or
fast forwarding. (b) Manual program selection
ªProgramº button: Push the ªº or ªº (DISC/CH/PROG)
button to select the other side of a cassette tape. The display
indicates which side is currently selected. (ª
º indicates the
top side, ªº indicates the bottom side.)
ªRewindº button: Push and hold the ª
º (TUNE/TRACK)
button until ªREWº appears on the display.
To stop rewinding, push the same button.
ªFast forwardº button: Push and hold the ª
º
(TUNE/TRACK) button until ªFFº will appears on the display.
To stop fast forwarding, push the same button.

To set: Pull up the lever. For better holding power, first
depress the brake pedal and hold it while setting the
parking brake.
To release: Pull up the lever slightly (
1), press the lock
release button (2), and lower the lever (3).
Before leaving your vehicle, firmly apply the parking brake. For
better holding power, first depress the brake pedal and hold it
while setting the parking brake.
CAUTION
Before driving, make sure the parking brake is fully
released and that the parking brake reminder light is off.
HOW TO START THE ENGINE
Cranking hold function
Once you turn the ignition key to ªSTARTº position and release
it, the cranking hold function continues to crank the engine in
ªONº position until it starts.
The function stops cranking the engine after about 25 seconds
maximum if the engine has not started yet. When you crank
the engine again, wait a few seconds and restart it.
If you hold the key in ªSTARTº position, the function will keep
cranking for about 30 seconds maximum.
Before cranking
1. Apply the parking brake firmly.
2. Turn off unnecessary lights and accessories.
3. Put the selector lever in ªPº. If you need to restart the engine
while the vehicle is moving, put the selector lever in ªNº. A
starter safety device will prevent the starter from operating if
the selector lever is in any drive position.
4. Depress the brake pedal and hold it to the floor until driving
off.
