Using a top strap (SportCross: Type B)

Follow the next procedure for a child restraint system that
requires the use of a top strap.

CAUTION
When using the top strap, be sure to run it through
between the seatback and the luggage cover by
hooking it on the anchor. Hooking the top strap on the
anchor by running it through over the luggage cover
may cause death or serious injury to a child due to
abnormal moving of the child restraint system in case
of sudden braking or a collision.

1. Pull up the deck board.

2. Take off the hook at the rear of the deck board.
3. Lift up the back side of the board and secure the board
by hooking it at the top of the back door opening with the
hook at the edge of the strap.
Make sure the board is secured and does not fall down.

4. Remove the cover of the center anchor bracket.
5. Lower the center deck board to the lowest position.

7. Lower the head restraint.

Installation with child restraint lower
anchorages
SV16117
The lower anchorages for the child restraint system
interfaced with the FMVSS225 specification are installed
in the rear seat.
The anchorages are installed in the clearance between the
seat cushion and seatback of both outside rear seats.
Child restraint system interfaced with the FMVSS225
specification can be fixed with these anchorages. In this case,
it is not necessary to fix the child restraint system with a seat

For owners in Canada
The symbol on a child restraint system indicates the presence
of a lower connector system.
CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM INSTALLATION
Type A:
1. Widen the clearance at the lower seatback and confirm
the position of the lower anchorages below the tag in the
seatback.
2. Latch the hooks of lower straps onto the anchorages
and tighten the lower straps.
Type B:
1. Widen the clearance at the lower seatback and confirm
the position of the lower anchorages below the tag in the
seatback.
2. Latch the buckles onto the anchorages.
If your child restraint system has a top strap, it should be
anchored. (For the installation of the top strap, see ºUsing a top
strapº on page 161 or 167.)
For the installation details, refer to the instruction manual
equipped with each product.
