(g) Low Engine Oil Level Warning Light
This light warns that the engine oil level is too low. Add oil as
soon as possible. (For instructions, see ªChecking the engine
oil levelº on page 333.)
While driving on steep inclines or rough roads which causes
the vehicle to substantially sway or on curves, this light may
come on due to the movement of engine oil in the engine.
In normal conditions, due to engine oil consumption, this light
may come on earlier than the specified service interval of the
scheduled maintenance. This is because the engine oil is
consumed to the low level within the scheduled maintenance
interval and does not indicate a problem. (For detailed
information, see ªFacts about engine oil consumptionº on page
331.)
NOTICE
Continued engine operation with low engine oil will damage the engine.
(h) Engine Oil Replacement Reminder Light (for vehicles sold in U.S.A.)
This light acts as a reminder to replace the engine oil.
This light will come on when the ignition key is turned to the
ªONº position and will go off after about a few seconds. When you drive for about 7200 km (4500 miles) after the
engine oil replacement, this light illuminates for about 3
seconds and then flashes for about 12 seconds with the
ignition key turned to the ªONº position. If you continue driving
without replacing the engine oil, and if the distance driven
exceeds 8000 km (5
000 miles), the light will come on after the
ignition key is turned to the ªONº position. The light will remain
on thereafter.
If the light is flashing, we recommend that you replace the
engine oil at an early opportunity depending on the driving and
road conditions. If the light comes on, replace it as soon as
possible.
The system must be reset after the engine oil replacement.
Reset the system by the following procedure:
1. Turn the ignition key to the ªOFFº position with the odometer
reading shown. (For details, see ªOdometer and trip meterº on
page 48.)
2. Turn the ignition key to the ªONº position while holding down
the ªODO/TRIPº button.
Hold down the button for at least 5 seconds. The odometer
indicates ª000000º and the light goes off.
If the system fails to reset, the system will revert to the state
before resetting operation. In this case, return to step 1 and try
again.

To turn on the luggage compartment light, open the back
door or push the switch. Closing the back door will turn
the light off.

The digital clock indicates the time with the ignition key at
the ªACCº or ªONº position. To reset the hour, press the
ªHº button. To reset the minutes, press the ªMº button. To
adjust the time to the nearest hour, press the ª:00º button.
For example, if the ª:00º button is pressed when the time is
between 9:30 ± 9:59 or between 10:01 ± 10:29, the time will
change to 10:00.
If the electrical power source has been disconnected from the
clock, the time display will automatically be set to 1:00 (one
o'clock).
When the headlight switch is in the first or second clickstop,
you can also adjust the brightness of the display using the
instrument panel light control knob.

1. Tune in the desired station.
2. Push
one of the station selector buttons ( 1±6 ) and hold
it until a beep is heard. This sets the station to the button
and the button number ( 1±6 ) appears on the display.
Each button can store one AM station and two FM stations. To
change the preset station to a different one, follow the same
procedure.
The preset station memory is cancelled when the power
source is interrupted by battery disconnection or a blown fuse. (c) Selecting a station
Tune in the desired station using one of the following methods.

Preset
tuning: Push the button ( 1±6 ) for the station you want.
The button number ( 1±6 ) and station frequency appear on the
display.
Manual tuning: Turn the ªAUDIO CONTROLº knob clockwise
to step up the frequency. Turn the knob counterclockwise to
step down the frequency. (See page 211.)
Seek tuning: Push the ªSEEKº button. The radio will begin
seeking up or down for a station of the nearest frequency and
will stop on reception. Each time you push the button, the
stations will be searched automatically one after another.

To scan all the frequencies: Push the ªSCANº button briefly.
ªSCANº appears on the display. The radio will find the next
station up the band, stay there for a few seconds, and then
scan again. To select a station, push the ªSCANº button a
second time.

To scan the preset stations: Push the ªSCANº button until
you hear a beep. ªSCANº appears on the display. The radio will
tune in the next preset station up the band, stay there for a few
seconds, and then move to the next preset station. To select
a station, push the ªSCANº button a second time.

ªRPTº button
: Use it for automatic repeat of the track you are
currently listening to.
In order to repeat the track you are currently listening to, push
the button briefly while the track is playing. ªRPTº will appear
on the display. When the track is finished, the player will
automatically go back to the beginning of the track and play the
track again. To cancel it, push the button briefly once again.
In order to repeat the CD you are currently listening to, push
the button until you hear a beep. ªD´RPTº will appear on the
display. When the last track of the CD you are listening to is
finished, the player will automatically go back to the first track
on the CD and play the CD again. To cancel it, push the button
once again. ªRANDº button:
Use it for automatic track selection and play
by the system.
When the button is pushed briefly, the system selects a track
in the CD which are set and plays it and ªRANDº will appear on
the display. To cancel it, push the button briefly once again.
When the button is pushed until you hear a beep, the system
selects a track in the all CDs which are set and plays it and
ªD´RANDº will appear on the display. To cancel it, push the
button once again.
When a t rack is skipped or the system is inoperative, push the
button to reset.

Each function is described below.
1Setting at a desired speed.
Automatic transmission: The transmission must be in the
ªDº position or the gear position must be ª4º or ª5º in M mode
before you set the cruise control speed.
Bring the vehicle to the desired speed, press the control lever
downward in the ªSET/COASTº direction and release it. This
sets the vehicle at that speed. Now you may take your foot off
the accelerator pedal. If you need acceleration ± for example,
when passing ± depress the accelerator pedal enough for the
vehicle to exceed the set speed. When you release the
accelerator pedal, the vehicle will return to the speed set prior
to the acceleration.
2Cancelling the preset speed
You can cancel the preset speed by either of the following:
a. Pulling the control lever in the ªCANCELº direction.
b. Depressing the brake pedal.
c. Depressing the clutch pedal (manual transmission)
If the vehicle speed falls below about 40 km/h (25 mph), the
preset speed will be automatically cancelled.
If the vehicle speed drops 16 km/h (10 mph) below the preset
speed, the preset speed will also automatically be cancelled.
If the preset speed automatically cancels out for other than
these reasons, have your vehicle checked by your Lexus
dealer at the earliest opportunity.
3Resetting to a faster speed
Press the control lever upward in the ªRES/ACCº direction and
hold it. Release the lever when the desired speed is attained.
While the lever is held upward, the vehicle will gradually gain
speed.
When the difference between the actual vehicle speed and the
set speed is less than 5 km/h (3 mph), the set speed can be
increased 1.6 km/h (1 mph) each time by pressing the control
lever upward in the ªRES/ACCº direction quickly within 0.6
seconds.
However, a quicker way to reset is to accelerate the vehicle
and then press the control lever downward in the
ªSET/COASTº direction.

4Resetting to a slower speed
Press the control lever downward in the ªSET/COASTº
direction and hold it. Release the lever when the desired speed
is attained. While the lever is held downward, the vehicle
speed will gradually decrease.
When the difference between the actual vehicle speed and the
set speed is less than 5 km/h (3 mph), the set speed can be
lowered 1.6 km/h (1 mph) each time by pressing the control
lever downward in the ªSET/COASTº direction quickly within
0.6 seconds.
However, a quicker way to reset is to depress the brake pedal
and then press the control lever downward in the
ªSET/COASTº direction.
Automatic transmission: Even if you downshift the
transmission from the ªDº position to ªMº with the cruise control
on, engine braking will not be applied because the cruise
control is not cancelled. To decrease the vehicle speed, reset
to a slower speed with the cruise control lever or depress the
brake pedal. If you use the brake pedal, cruise control is
cancelled.
5Resuming the preset speed
If the preset speed is cancelled by pulling the control lever or
by depressing the brake pedal, pushing the lever up in the
ªRES/ACCº direction will restore the speed set prior to
cancellation. However, once the vehicle speed falls below
about 40 km/h (25 mph), the preset speed will not be resumed.
Cruise control failure warning
If the ªCRUISEº indicator light in the instrument cluster flashes
five times and then goes out when using the cruise control, it
means that there is trouble in the cruise control system.
