When trouble arises

Take out the towing eyelet. (→P. 4 5 9 )
Remove the eyelet cover using a flat-
head screwdriver.
To protect the bodywork, place a rag
between the screwdriver and the vehi-
cle body as shown in the illustration.
Insert the towing eyelet into the hole
and tighten partially by hand.
Tighten down the towing eyelet
securely using a wheel nut wrench
or hard metal bar.
Enter the vehicle being towed and start the hybrid system.
If the hybrid system does not start, turn the power switch to ON mode.
Shift the shift lever to N and release the parking brake.
When the shift lever cannot be shifted: →P. 5 4 3

■While towing
If the hybrid system is off, the power assist for the brakes and steering will not function,
making steering and braking more difficult.
■Wheel nut wrench
Wheel nut wrench is installed in luggage compartment. (→P. 4 5 9 )
CAUTION
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
■When towing the vehicle
■While towing
●When towing using a cables or chains, avoid sudden starts, etc. which place excessive
stress on the towing eyelet, cables or chains.
The towing eyelet, cables or chains may become damaged, broken debris may hit
people and cause serious damage.
●Do not turn the power switch off.
There is a possibility that the steering wheel is locked and cannot be operated.
■Installing towing eyelet to the vehicle
Make sure that towing eyelet is installed securely.
If not securely installed, towing eyelet may come loose during towing.
Be sure to transport the vehicle with all four
wheels raised off the ground. If the vehicle is
towed with the tires contacting the ground, the
drivetrain and related parts may be damaged,
an accident may occur due to a change in
direction of the vehicle or electricity generated
by the operation of the motor may cause a fire
to occur depending on the nature of the dam-
age or malfunction.

SRS warning light
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The SRS airbag system; or
• The seat belt pretensioner system
→Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional
immediately.
ABS warning light
Indicates a malfunction in:
•The ABS; or
• The brake assist system
→Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional
immediately.
Electric power steering system warning light
Indicates a malfunction in the EPS (Electric Power Steering) sys-
tem
→Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional
immediately.

Pre-crash safety system warning light
Indicates a malfunction in the PCS (Pre-Crash Safety system)
The warning light will operate as follows, even when the system is
not malfunctioning:
• The light will flash quickly when the system is operating.

• The light will turn on when the pre-crash safety system is dis-
abled. (→P. 2 9 3 )
• The light will turn on when the VSC (Vehicle Stability Control)
system is disabled. (→P. 2 8 8 )
• The light will flash when the system cannot temporarily be used.
(→P. 5 1 8 )
→Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional
immediately.
Slip indicator
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) system;
• The TRC (Traction Control) system; or
• The hill-start assist control system
The light will flash when the VSC, the TRC or the ABS system is
operating.
→Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional
immediately.

Indicates that a Lexus parking assist-sensor is dirty or
covered with ice
A buzzer also sounds.
→Clean the sensor.
Indicates that the accelerator pedal is depressed while
the shift position is in N
A buzzer also sounds.
→Release the accelerator pedal and shift the shift
lever to D, S or R.
Indicates that the hybrid battery (traction battery) power
has dropped because a long period of time has elapsed
after shifting the shift lever to N
A buzzer also sounds.
→Restart the hybrid system when starting the vehicle.
Indicates a malfunction in the hybrid system
A buzzer also sounds.
→Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and
contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional.
Indicates that the hybrid battery (traction battery) is low
A buzzer also sounds.
→When stopping the vehicle for a long period of time,
shift the shift lever to P. The hybrid battery (traction
battery) cannot be charged with the shift lever in N.

unable to judge vehicle-to-vehicle distance

them to a mode other than AUTO or high speed
wiper operation.

Indicates that the LDA (Lane Departure Alert) system is
suspended
The camera sensor temperature is higher than the
operation temperature range.
A buzzer also sounds.
→Restart the LDA after driving for a while.
(If equipped)
Indicates that:
• The grille shutter system cannot operate; or
• The grille shutter is dirty or covered with ice
A buzzer also sounds.
→Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional.

Indicates that a Blind Spot Monitor sensor or the sur-
rounding area on the bumper is dirty or covered with ice
A buzzer also sounds.
→Clean the sensor and its surrounding area on the
bumper.

Indicates a malfunction in:
• The cruise control system; or
• The dynamic radar cruise control system
Press the “ON/OFF” button once to deactivate the
system, and then press the button again to reactivate
the system.

with the mechanical key and then

• The electronic key could not be

→Touch the electronic key to the

• With the power switch off, the
doors were unlocked and then the
driver’s door was opened and
closed;
• The power switch was turned to
ACCESSORY mode without
starting the hybrid system; or
• The shift lever was shifted to P
from another position with the
power switch in ON mode.
→Press the power switch while
depressing the brake pedal.

The power switch has been turned
off with the shift lever in a position
other than P.
→Shift the shift lever to P.
Once
After the power switch has been
turned off with the shift lever in a
position other than P, the shift lever
has been shifted to P.

Power was turned off due to the
automatic power off function.
→Next time when starting the
hybrid system, increase the
engine speed slightly and main-
tain that level for approximately
5 minutes to recharge the 12-
volt battery.
