1103-1. Key information
IS350/300/200t_U (OM53D76U)
NOTICE
■To prevent key damage
●Do not drop the keys, subject them to strong shocks or bend them.
●Do not expose the keys to high temp eratures for long periods of time.
●Do not get the keys wet or wash them in an ultrasonic washer etc.
●Do not attach metallic or magnetic materials to the keys or place the keys close to
such materials.
●Do not disassemble the keys.
●Do not attach a sticker or anything else to the surface of the electronic key.
●Do not place the keys near objects that pr oduce magnetic fields, such as TVs, audio
systems and induction cookers, or medical electrical equipment, such as low-fre-
quency therapy equipment.
■Carrying the electronic key on your person
Carry the electronic key 3.9 in. (10 cm) or mo re away from electric appliances that are
turned on. Radio waves emitted from electric appliances within 3.9 in. (10 cm) of the
electronic key may interfere with the key, causing the key to not function properly.
■In case of a smart access system with push-button start malfunction or other key-
related problems
Take your vehicle with all the electronic keys provided with your vehicle, including the
card key, to your Lexus dealer.
■When an electronic key is lost
If the electronic key remains lost, the risk of vehicle th eft increases significantly. Visit
your Lexus dealer immediately with all rema ining electronic keys and the card key that
were provided with your vehicle.
■Handling the card key
●Do not apply excess force when inserting th e mechanical key into the card key. Doing
so may damage the card key.
●If the battery or card key terminals get wet, the battery may corrode.
If the key is dropped into water, or if drin king water etc. is spilled on the key, immedi-
ately remove the battery cover and wipe th e battery and terminals. (To remove the
battery cover, lightly grasp and pull it.) If the battery is corroded, have your Lexus
dealer replace the battery.
●Do not crush the battery cover or use a screwdriver to remove the battery cover.
Forcibly removing the battery cover may bend or damage the key.
●If the battery cover is frequently removed, the battery cover may become loose.
●When installing the battery, make sure to check the direction of the battery.
Installing the battery in the wrong directio n may cause the battery to deplete rapidly.
●The surface of the card key may be damaged, or its coating may peel off in the follow-
ing situations:
• The card key is carried together with hard objects, such as coins and keys.
• The card key is scraped with a sharp object, such as the tip of a mechanical pencil.
• The surface of the card key is wiped with thinner or benzene.

■Conditions affe cting operation
The smart access system with push-button st art uses weak radio waves. In the following
situations, the communication between the electronic key and the vehicle may be
affected, preventing the smar t access system with push-but ton start, wireless remote
control and engine immobilizer system from operating properly.
(Ways of coping: →P. 559)
●When the electronic key battery is depleted
●Near a TV tower, electric power plant, gas st ation, radio station, large display, airport or
other facility that generates strong radio wave s or electrical noise
●When carrying a portable radio, cellular phone, cordless phone or other wireless com-
munication device
●When the electronic key is in contact wi th, or is covered by the following metallic
objects
• Cards to which aluminum foil is attached
• Cigarette boxes that have aluminum foil inside
• Metallic wallets or bags
•Coins
• Hand warmers made of metal
• Media such as CDs and DVDs
●When other wireless keys (that emit radio waves) are being used nearby
●When carrying the electronic key together with the following devices that emit radio
waves
• Another vehicle’s electronic key or a wireless key that emits radio waves
• Personal computers or person al digital assistants (PDAs)
• Digital audio players
• Portable game systems
●If window tint with a metallic content or me tallic objects are attached to the rear win-
dow

WARNING
■Things that must not be carried in the trunk
The following things may cause a fire if loaded in the trunk:
●Receptacles containing gasoline
●Aerosol cans
■Storage precautions
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may prevent the pedals from being depressed properly, may block the
driver’s vision, or may result in items hittin g the driver or passengers, possibly causing
an accident.
●Stow cargo and lugg age in the trunk whenever possible.
●To prevent cargo and luggage from sliding forward during braking, do not stack any-
thing in the enlarged trunk. Keep cargo and luggage low, as close to the floor as pos-
sible.
●When you fold down the rear seats, long items should not be placed directly behind
the front seats.
●Never allow anyone to ride in the enlarged trunk. It is not designed for passengers.
They should ride in their seats with their seat belts properly fastened.
●Do not place cargo or luggage in or on the following locations.
• At the feet of the driver
• On the front passenger or re ar seats (when stacking items)
• On the package tray
• On the instrument panel
•On the dashboard
• In front of the Lexus Display Audio scre en (if equipped) or navigation system
screen (if equipped)
●Secure all items in the occupant compartment.
■Capacity and distribution
●Do not exceed the maximum axle weight rating or the total vehicle weight rating.
●Even if the total load of occupant’s weight and the cargo load is less than the total load
capacity, do not apply the load unevenly. Improper loading may cause deterioration
of steering or braking control whic h may cause death or serious injury.

■Buzzer operation and distance to an obstacle
A buzzer sounds when the sensors are operating.
●The buzzer beeps faster as the vehicl e approaches an obstacle. When the
vehicle comes within the following di stance of the obstacle, the buzzer
sounds continuously:
• Front center sensors: Ap proximately 1.0 ft. (30 cm)
• Corner sensors: Approximately 1.0 ft. (30 cm)
• Rear center sensors: Approximately 1.1 ft. (35 cm)
●When 2 or more obstacles are detected simultaneously, the buzzer system
responds to the nearest obstacle. If one or both come within the above dis-
tances, the beep will repeat a lo ng tone, followed by fast beeps.
Approximately 3.3 ft. (100 cm)
Approximately 4.9 ft. (150 cm)
Approximately 1.6 ft. (50 cm)
Approximately 2.0 ft. (60 cm)
The diagram shows th e detection range
of the sensors. Note that the sensors
cannot detect obstacles that are
extremely close to the vehicle.
The range of the sensors may change
depending on the shape of the object
etc.
