■Coolant selection
Only use “Toyota Super Long Life Coolant”
or a similar high quality ethylene glycol based non-silicate, non-amine, non-nitrite, and non-borate coolant with long-life
hybrid organic acid technology.
“Toyota Super Long Life Coolant” is a mix-
ture of 50% coolant and 50% deionized water. (Minimum temperature: -35°C [-31°F])
For more details about coolant, contact any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus autho-
rized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
■If the coolant level drops within a short time of replenishing
Visually check the radiator, hoses, engine/power control unit coolant reservoir caps, drain cock and water pump.
If you cannot find a leak, have any autho- rized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer, test the
cap and check for leaks in the cooling sys- tem.
Check the radiator and condenser and

■High coolant temperature warning light (warning buzzer)*
*: This light illuminates on the multi-information display.
■Front passenger detection sensor, seat belt reminder and warning buzzer
●If luggage is placed on a front passenger seat, the front passenger detection sensor may cause the warning light to flash and the warning buzzer to sound even if a passenger is not
sitting in the seat.
●If a cushion is placed on the seat, the sensor may not detect a passenger, and the warning
light may not operate properly.
■If the malfunction indicator lamp comes on while driving
The malfunction indicator lamp w ill come on if the fuel tank becomes completely empty. If
the fuel tank is empty, refuel the vehicle immediately. The malfunction indicator lamp will go off after several trips.
If the malfunction indicator lamp does not go off, contact any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer as soon as possible.
■Electric power steering system warning light (warning buzzer)
When the 12-volt battery charge becomes insufficient or the voltage temporarily drops, the electric power steering system warning lig ht may come on and the warning buzzer may sound.
■Tire pressure warning light
When a malfunction occurs in the tire pressure warning system, the tire pressure warning light blinks to warn the driver. However, if the warning light blinks for 1 minute, and then
remains illuminated, maki ng it difficult to determine whether the warning light is blinking, turn the engine switch <power switch> fr om off to IGNITION ON mode <ON mode> and check if the warning light blinks.
■When the tire pressure warning light comes on
Carry out the following procedure after the tire temperature has lowered sufficiently.
●Check the tire inflation pressure and adjust to the appropriate level.
●If the warning light does not go out even after several minutes, check that the tire inflation
pressure is at the specified level and carry out initialization. ( P.335)
The warning light may come on again if the above operations are conducted without first
allowing the tire temperature to lower sufficiently.
■The tire pressure warning light may come on due to natural causes
The tire pressure warning light may come on du e to natural causes such as natural air leaks
and tire inflation pressure changes caused by temperature. In this case, adjusting the tire inflation pressure will turn off the warning light (after a few minutes).

WARNING
■After recharging the 12-volt battery
Have the 12-volt battery inspected at any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer as soon as possible. If the 12-volt battery is deteriorating, continued use may cause the 12-volt battery to emit a
malodorous gas, which may be detri- mental to the health of passengers.
■When exchanging the 12-volt battery
After exchanging, securely attach the exhaust hose and exhaust hole plug to
the exhaust hole of the exchanged 12- volt battery. If not properly installed, gases (hydrogen) may leak into the vehi-
cle interior, and there is the possible dan- ger of the gas igniting and exploding.

WARNING
■When inspecting under the hood of your vehicle
Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may result in serious
injury such as burns.
●If steam is seen coming from under the hood, do not open the hood until the steam has subsided. The engine com-
partment may be very hot.
●Keep hands and clothing (especially a tie, a scarf or a muffler) away from the fan and belts. Failure to do so may
cause the hands or clothing to be caught, resulting in serious injury.
●While the engine and radiator are hot, do not loosen or remove the coolant
inlet cap or coolant reservoir cap. High temperature steam or coolant could spray out.
NOTICE
■When adding engine coolant
Add coolant slowly after the engine has
cooled down sufficiently. Adding cool coolant to a hot engine too quickly can cause damage to the engine.
■To prevent damage to the cooling sys-
tem
