4-5. Using the driving support systems
Inside of displayed white lines is
white
Indicates that the system is recognizing
white (yellow) lines. When the vehicle
departs from its lane, the white line dis-
played on the side the vehicle departs
from flashes orange.
Inside of displayed white lines is
black
Indicates that the system is not able to
recognize white (yellow) lines or is
temporarily canceled.
■Operation conditions of each function
●Lane departure alert function
This function operates when all of the fol-
lowing conditions are met.
• LKA is turned on. • Vehicle speed is approximately 50 km/h (32 mph) or more.
• System recognizes white (yellow) lines. • Width of traffic lane is approximately 3 m (9.8 ft.) or more.
• Turn signal lever is not operated. • Vehicle is driven on a straight road or around a gentle curve with a radius of
more than approximately 150 m (492 ft.). • No system malfunctions are detected. ( P.224)
●Steering assist function
This function operates when all of the fol-
lowing conditions are met in addition to the
operation conditions for the lane departure
alert function.
• Setting for “Steering Assist” in of the
multi-information display is set to “On”.
( P.92)
• Vehicle is not accelerated or decelerated by a fixed amount or more.
• Steering wheel is not operated with a steering force level suitable for changing lanes.
• ABS, VSC, TRC and PCS are not oper- ating.• TRC or VSC is not turned off.
• Except for Israel: Hands off steering wheel alert is not displayed.
●Vehicle sway warning function
This function operates when all of the fol-
lowing conditions are met.
• Setting for “Sway Warning” in of the
multi-information display is set to “On”.
( P.92)
• Vehicle speed is approximately 50 km/h (32 mph) or more.• Width of traffic lane is approximately 3 m
(9.8 ft.) or more. • No system malfunctions are detected. ( P.224)
●Lane centering function
This function operates when all of the fol-
lowing conditions are met.
• LKA is turned on. • Setting for “Steering Assist” and “Lane
Center” in of the multi-information
display are set to “On”. ( P.92) • System recognizes white (yellow) lines.• Dynamic radar cruise control with full-

4-5. Using the driving support systems
Driving
• Width of traffic lane is approximately 2.5 to 4.1 m (8.2 to 13.5 ft.).• Turn signal lever is not operated.
• Vehicle is driven on a straight road or around a gentle curve with a radius of more than approximately 200 m (656
ft.). • No system malfunctions are detected. ( P.224)
• Vehicle does not accelerate or deceler- ate by a fixed amount or more.• Steering wheel is not operated with a
steering force level suitable for changing lanes.• ABS, VSC, TRC and PCS are not oper-
ating. • TRC or VSC is not turned off.• Except for Israel: Hands off steering
wheel alert is not displayed. • Steering assist function is not operating.
■Temporary cancellation of functions
When operation conditions are no longer met, a function may be temporarily can-celed. However, when the operation condi-
tions are met again, operation of the function is automatically restored.
■Steering assist function/lane centering
function
Depending on the vehicle speed, lane
departure situation, road conditions, etc., the driver may not feel the function is oper-ating or the function may not operate at all.
■Lane departure alert function
The warning buzzer may be difficult to hear due to external noise, audio playback, etc.
■Hands off steering wheel alert
For Israel: When the system determines that the driver has removed the hands from
the steering wheel while the steering assist function or lane centering function is oper-ating, a warning message is displayed on
the multi-information display. If the driver continues to keep the hands off of the steer-ing wheel, a buzzer sounds and a warning
message is displayed. This alert also oper- ates in the same way when the driver con-tinuously operates the steering wheel only a
small amount. However, depending on the road conditions, etc., the function may not
cancel.
Except for Israel: When the system deter-
mines that the driver has removed the hands from the steering wheel while the steering assist function or lane centering
function is operating, a warning message is displayed on the multi-information display. If the driver continues to keep the hands off of
the steering wheel, a warning message is displayed and the function is temporarily canceled. This alert also operates in the
same way when the driver continuously operates the steering wheel only a small amount. However, depending on the road
conditions, etc., the function may not can- cel.
■White (yellow) lines are only on one side of road
The LKA system will not operate for the side on which white (yellow) lines could not
be recognized.
■Conditions in which functions may not operate properly
In the following situations, the camera sen- sor may not detect white (yellow) lines and various functions may not operate normally.
●There are shadows on the road that run
parallel with, or cover, the white (yellow) lines.
●The vehicle is driven in an area without white (yellow) lines, such as in front of a tollgate or checkpoint, or at an intersec-
tion, etc.
●The white (yellow) lines are cracked,
“Raised pavement marker” or stones are present.
●The white (yellow) lines cannot be seen or are difficult to see due to sand, etc.
●The vehicle is driven on a road surface that is wet due to rain, puddles, etc.
●The traffic lines are yellow (which may be more difficult to recognize than lines that are white).
●The white (yellow) lines cross over a curb, etc.
●The vehicle is driven on a bright surface, such as concrete.

The diagram shows the detection range of
the sensors. Note that the sensors cannot
detect obstacles that are extremely close
to the vehicle.
The range of the sensors may change
depending on the shap e of the object etc.

Sensors that detect an obstacle will illu-
minate continuously or blink.

the Multi-information display, and differ
from the graphics on the head-up dis-

the distance of the obstacle, the sensor
display on Center Display illuminates or
blinks in various cycles, although the
width of it does not change.

6-3. Do-it-yourself maintenance
When replacing wheels, care should
be taken to ensure that they are equiv-
alent to those removed in load capac-
ity, diameter, rim width and inset*.
Replacement wheels are available at
any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus
authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer.
*: Conventionally referred to as offset.
Lexus does not recommend using the
following:
 Wheels of different sizes or types
 Used wheels
 Bent wheels that have been straight-
ened
■When replacing wheels
The wheels of your vehicle are equipped with tire pressure warning valves and trans-
mitters that allow the tire pressure warning system to provide advance warning in the event of a loss in tire inflation pressure.
Whenever wheels are replaced, tire pres- sure warning valves and transmitters must be installed. ( P.335)Use only Lexus wheel nuts and
wrenches designed for use with
your aluminum wheels.
 When rotating, repairing or chang-
Wheels
If a wheel is bent, cracked or heavily
corroded, it should be replaced.
Otherwise, the tire may separate
from the wheel or cause a loss of
handling control.
Wheel selection
WARNING
■When replacing wheels
●Do not use wheels that are a different
size from those recommended in the Owner’s Manual, as this may result in a loss of handling control.
●Never use an inner tube in a leaking
wheel which is designed for a tubeless tire. Doing so may result in an acci-dent, causing death or serious injury.
■Use of defective wheels prohibited
Do not use cracked or deformed wheels.
Doing so could cause the tire to leak air during driving, possibly causing an acci-dent.
NOTICE
■Replacing tire pressure warning
valves and transmitters
●Because tire repair or replacement
may affect the tire pressure warning valves and transmitters, make sure to have tires serviced by any authorized
Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer or other qualified service shop. In addi-
tion, make sure to purchase your tire pressure warning valves and transmit-ters at any authorized Lexus retailer or
Lexus authorized repairer, or any reli- able repairer.
●Ensure that only genuine Lexus wheels are used on your vehicle.
Tire pressure warning valves and trans- mitters may not work properly with non-genuine wheels.
