1. Open the floor console storagecompartment lid.
2. With the buttons facing upward and theunlock button facing the front of yourvehicle, place the intelligent access keyinto the backup slot.
3. With the key in this position, press thebrake pedal then press the push buttonignition switch to switch the ignition onand start your vehicle.
Fast Restart
The fast restart feature allows you to restartyour vehicle within 10 seconds of switchingit off, even if it does not detect a validpassive key.
Within 10 seconds of switching your vehicleoff, press the brake pedal and press the pushbutton ignition switch. After 10 seconds, youcan no longer start your vehicle if it does notdetect a valid passive key.
Once your vehicle starts, it remains runninguntil you press the push button ignitionswitch, even if your vehicle does not detecta valid passive key. If you open and close adoor while your vehicle is running, thesystem searches for a valid passive key.
Failure to Start
If you cannot start the engine after threeattempts, wait 10 seconds and follow thisprocedure:
1. Fully depress the brake pedal.
2. Shift into park (P).
3. Fully depress the accelerator pedal.

4. Keep the accelerator pedal fullydepressed and press the push buttonignition switch until the engine starts.
Automatic Engine Shutdown
This feature automatically shuts down theengine if it has been idling for an extendedperiod. The ignition also turns off to savebattery power. Before your vehicle shutsdown, a message appears in the informationdisplay showing a timer counting down. Ifyou do not intervene within 30 seconds, yourvehicle shuts down. Another messageappears in the information display to informyou that your vehicle has shut down to savefuel. Start your vehicle as normal.
Automatic Engine Shutdown Override
Note: You cannot permanently switch offthe automatic shutdown. When you switchit off temporarily, it turns on at the nextignition cycle.
You can stop the shutdown, or reset thetimer, at any point before the 30-secondcountdown has expired by doing any of thefollowing:
•Reset the timer by pressing the brake oraccelerator pedal.
•Temporarily switch off the shutdownfeature during the current ignition cycleusing the information display. SeeGeneral Information (page 118).
•Press OK or RESET to temporarily switchthe feature off during the current ignitioncycle.
Stopping the Engine When YourVehicle is Stationary
1. Shift into park (P).
2. Press the push button ignition switch.
3. Apply the parking brake.
Note:The ignition, all electrical circuits andall warning lamps and indicators will beturned off.
Note:If the engine is idling for 30 minutes,the ignition and engine automatically shutsdown.
Stopping the Engine When YourVehicle is Moving
WARNING
Switching off the engine when thevehicle is still moving will result in aloss of brake and steering assistance. Thesteering will not lock, but higher effort willbe required. When the ignition is switchedoff, some electrical circuits, including airbags, warning lamps and indicators may alsobe off. If the ignition was turned offaccidentally, you can shift into neutral (N) andre-start the engine.
1.Put the transmission into neutral (N) anduse the brakes to bring your vehicle to asafe stop.
2.When your vehicle has stopped, shift intopark (P).
3. Press and hold the push button ignitionswitch until the engine stops, or press itthree times within two seconds.
4. Apply the parking brake.

3. The gearshift button you select willilluminate and the selected gear willappear in the instrument cluster.
4. Release the brake pedal and yourtransmission will remain in the selectedgear.
Note:If you attempt to leave your vehiclewhile it is in gear, your vehicle willautomatically shift into park (P). Safety beltand door monitors determine your intent andmake the shift for you. During this time, amessage will appear in the informationdisplay screen prompting you to make theshift to park (P).
Note:To put your vehicle in gear with thedoor open, perform steps 1-4. See theAutomatic Return to Park section in thischapter for more information on this feature.
Park (P)
With the transmission in park (P), your vehiclelocks the transmission and prevents thewheels from turning. Always come to acomplete stop before putting your vehicleinto and out of park (P). An audible tonesounds once you select park (P).
When the ignition is turned off, the vehiclewill automatically shift into park (P). If theignition is turned off while the vehicle ismoving, it will first shift into neutral (N) untila slow enough speed is reached. The vehiclewill then shift into park (P) automatically.
Automatic Return to Park
Note:This feature will not operate when yourvehicle is in Stay in Neutral mode or neutraltow.
Your vehicle has a safety feature that willautomatically shift your vehicle into park (P)when any of the following conditions occur:
•You turn the ignition off
•You open the driver's door with yoursafety belt unlatched
•Your safety belt is unlatched while thedriver's door is open
If you turn the ignition off while your vehicleis moving, your vehicle will first shift intoneutral (N) until it slows down enough to shiftinto park (P) automatically.
Note:If you have waited an extended periodof time (2-15 minutes) before starting yourvehicle, unlatching your safety belt will causethis feature to activate, even with the driver'sdoor closed.
Note:This feature may not work properly ifthe door ajar switch is malfunctioning. If yourdoor ajar indicator does not illuminate whenyou open the driver’s door or the indicatorilluminates with the driver’s door closed, seeyour authorized dealer.
Reverse (R)
With the transmission in reverse (R), yourvehicle will move backward. Always cometo a complete stop before shifting into andout of reverse (R).
Neutral (N)
With the transmission in neutral (N), you canstart your vehicle and it is free to roll. Holdthe brake pedal down while in this position.

If Your Vehicle Goes Off the Edge of thePavement
•If your vehicle goes off the edge of thepavement, slow down, but avoid severebrake application, ease the vehicle backonto the pavement only after reducingyour speed. Do not turn the steeringwheel too sharply while returning to theroad surface.
•It may be safer to stay on the apron orshoulder of the road and slow downgradually before returning to thepavement. You may lose control if youdo not slow down or if you turn thesteering wheel too sharply or abruptly.
•It often may be less risky to strike smallobjects, such as highway reflectors, withminor damage to your vehicle rather thanattempt a sudden return to the pavementwhich could cause the vehicle to slidesideways out of control or rollover.Remember, your safety and the safety ofothers should be your primary concern.
If Your Vehicle Gets Stuck
WARNINGS
Always set the parking brake fully andmake sure the transmission is in P(Park). Turn the ignition to the lock positionor turn the vehicle off using the start/stopbutton and remove the key whenever youleave your vehicle.
If the parking brake is fully released,but the brake warning lamp remainsilluminated, the brakes may not be workingproperly. See your authorized dealer.
Do not spin the wheels at over 35 mph(56 km/h). The tires may fail and injurea passenger or bystander.
Note:Do not rock the vehicle if the engineis not at normal operating temperature ordamage to the transmission may occur.
Note:Do not rock the vehicle for more thana few minutes or damage to the transmissionand tires may occur or the engine mayoverheat.
If your vehicle gets stuck in mud or snow itmay be rocked out by shifting betweenforward and reverse gears, stoppingbetween shifts, in a steady pattern. Presslightly on the accelerator in each gear.
If your vehicle is equipped withAdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™, itmay be beneficial to disengage theAdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™system while attempting to rock the vehicle.
Emergency Maneuvers
•In an unavoidable emergency situationwhere a sudden sharp turn must bemade, remember to avoid "over-driving"your vehicle (i.e., turn the steering wheelonly as rapidly and as far as required toavoid the emergency). Excessive steeringwill result in less vehicle control, notmore. Additionally, smooth variations ofthe accelerator and/or brake pedalpressure should be utilized if changes invehicle speed are called for. Avoid abrupt

Press the Auto Hold button to switch thesystem on and off. The Auto Hold indicatorlight illuminates in the Auto Hold buttonwhen the system is on.
Note:You can only switch Auto Hold on ifyou close the door and fasten your seatbelt.
Note:Auto Hold turns off every time youpower down your vehicle.
When Auto Hold is off, your vehicle behavesthe same as a vehicle without Auto Hold.
There is an Auto Hold indicator lamp in theinstrument cluster that has two modes, activeand unavailable:
The Auto Hold (ACTIVE) indicatorlight illuminates in the informationdisplay when the system holdsyour vehicle stationary. When in active mode,press the brake pedal and the Auto Holdbutton to switch Auto Hold off.
The Auto Hold (UNAVAILABLE)indicator light illuminates in theinformation display when thesystem is on but unavailable to hold yourvehicle (for example, during Active ParkAssist, Stay in Neutral Mode, or when youdo not fasten your seatbelt or close thedoor).
Note:Make sure you switch off Auto Holdor use the Stay in Neutral mode before youenter a car wash. See AutomaticTransmission (page 188).
Using Auto Hold
1. Bring your vehicle to a stop by pressingthe brake pedal. After coming to a stop,the green Auto Hold (ACTIVE) indicatorlamp illuminates in the informationdisplay.
2.Release the brake pedal. The Auto Hold(ACTIVE) indicator light remainsilluminated in the information display andAuto Hold will hold your vehicle at a stop.
3. When you press the accelerator pedal,Auto Hold releases the brakes and youwill be able to drive off. Once you driveoff, the green Auto Hold (ACTIVE)indicator no longer illuminates in theinformation display.
Note:The Stop/Start system (if equipped)may stop the engine when you press thebrake pedal. If this occurs, it will restart onceyou press the accelerator pedal. Auto Holdstill holds your vehicle at a standstill with theengine off.

Points of Interest (POI) groupingicon: You can choose up to threePOI icons to display on the map. Ifthe chosen POIs are located closetogether or are at the same location a box isused to display a single category icon
instead of repeating the same icon, in orderto reduce clutter. When you select the boxon the map, a pop-up appears indicating howmany POIs are in this location. Select the popup to see a list of the available POIs. You canscroll through and select POIs from this list.
If your vehicle is low on charge or fuel,station icons automatically display on themap.
If you have subscribed to SiriusXM Trafficand Travel Link (where available), traffic flowwill be indicated on the map by green (clear),yellow (slowing), and red (stopped) roadhighlights. Traffic flow is indicated where theinformation is available and varies across theUS.
You can choose to display traffic icons onthe map representing twelve different typesof incidents. See Settings (page 475).

On an iPhone with iOS7+, to force close anapp, double tap the home button then swipeup on the app to close it. Tap the home buttonagain, then select the app again to restart it.After a few seconds, the app should thenappear in SYNC 3's Mobile App's Menu.
Switch Bluetooth off and then on to reset it onyour phone. If you are in your vehicle, SYNC3 should be able to automatically re-connectto your phone if you press the "Phone" button.
There is a Bluetooth issue on some olderversions of the Android operating system thatmay cause apps that were found on yourprevious vehicle drive to not be found againif you did not switch Bluetooth off.
My Android phone is connected, my app(s)are running, I restarted them, but I still cannotfind any apps.
