A camera sensor, centrally mounted behindthe windshield of your vehicle, continuouslymonitors conditions to turn the high beamson and off.
Once the system is active, the high beamsturn on if:
•The ambient light level is low enough.
•There is no traffic in front of your vehicle.
•The vehicle speed is greater thanapproximately 32 mph (51 km/h).
The system turns the high beams off if:
•The ambient light level is high enoughthat high beams are not required.
•The system detects an approachingvehicle's headlamps or tail lamps.
•The vehicle speed falls belowapproximately 27 mph (44 km/h).
•The system detects severe rain, snow orfog.
•The camera is blocked.
Switching the System On and Off
Switch the system on using the informationdisplay. See Information Displays (page110).
Switch the lighting control to the autolampsposition. See Autolamps (page 88).
Overriding the System
Push the lever away from you to switchbetween high beam and low beam.
Automatic High Beam Indicator
The indicator illuminates to confirmwhen the system is ready to assist.
ADAPTIVE HEADLAMPS (If Equipped)
The headlamp beams move in the samedirection as the steering wheel. This providesmore visibility when driving around curves.
A. Without adaptive headlamps.
B. With adaptive headlamps.

Detection Issues
WARNING: On rare occasions, detection issues can occur due to the roadinfrastructures, for example bridges, tunnelsand safety barriers. In these cases, thesystem may brake late or unexpectedly. Atall times, you are responsible for controllingyour vehicle, supervising the system andintervening, if required.
WARNING: If the system malfunctions, have your vehicle checked as soon aspossible.
The radar sensor has a limited field of view.It may not detect vehicles at all or detect avehicle later than expected in somesituations. The lead vehicle graphic does notilluminate if the system does not detect avehicle in front of you.
Detection issues can occur:
When driving on a different linethan the vehicle in front.A
With vehicles that edge into yourlane. The system can only detectthese vehicles once they movefully into your lane.
B
There may be issues with thedetection of vehicles in front whendriving into and coming out of abend or curve in the road.
C
In these cases, the system may brake late orunexpectedly. You should stay alert and takeaction when necessary.
If something hits the front end of your vehicleor damage occurs, the radar-sensing zonemay change. This could cause missed orfalse vehicle detection.
Optimal system performance requires a clearview of the road by the windshield-mountedcamera.
Optimal performance may not occur if:

•The camera is blocked.
•There is poor visibility or lightingconditions.
•There are bad weather conditions.
System Not Available
Conditions that can cause the system todeactivate or prevent the system fromactivating when requested include:
•A blocked sensor.
•High brake temperature.
•A failure in the system or a relatedsystem.
Blocked SensorA message displays if something obstructsthe radar signals from the sensor. Thesensor is in the lower grille. The systemcannot detect a vehicle ahead and does notfunction when something blocks the sensor.
Note:You cannot see the sensor. It is behinda fascia panel.
Keep the front of your vehicle free of dirt, metal badges or objects. Vehicle frontprotectors and aftermarket lights may alsoblock the sensor.

Note:A high crown in the road or highcrosswinds may also make the steeringseem to wander or pull.
Adaptive Learning
The electronic power steering systemadaptive learning helps correct roadirregularities and improves overall handlingand steering feel. It communicates with thebrake system to help operate advancedstability control and accident avoidancesystems. Additionally, whenever the batteryis disconnected or a new battery installed, you must drive your vehicle a short distancebefore the system relearns the strategy andreactivates all systems.
PRE-COLLISION ASSIST (If Equipped)
WARNING: You are responsible forcontrolling your vehicle at all times. Thesystem is designed to be an aid and doesnot relieve you of your responsibility to drivewith due care and attention. Failure to followthis instruction could result in the loss ofcontrol of your vehicle, personal injury ordeath.
WARNING: The system does not detectvehicles that are driving in a differentdirection, pedestrians at night, cyclists oranimals. Failure to take care may result inthe loss of control of your vehicle, seriouspersonal injury or death.
WARNING: The system does notoperate during hard acceleration or steering.Failure to take care may lead to a crash orpersonal injury.

Keep the front camera and radar freeof snow and ice. Failure to take care mayresult in the loss of control of your vehicle, serious personal injury or death.
WARNING: In situations where thevehicle camera has limited detectioncapability, this may reduce systemperformance. These situations include butare not limited to direct or low sunlight, vehicles at night without tail lights, unconventional vehicle types, pedestrianswith complex backgrounds, runningpedestrians, partly obscured pedestrians, orpedestrians that the system cannotdistinguish from a group. Blocked SensorsIf a message regarding a blocked sensor orcamera appears in the information display, the radar signals or camera images areobstructed. The radar sensor is locatedbehind a fascia cover near the driver side ofthe lower grille. With an obstructed radar, the Pre-Collision Assist system does notfunction and cannot detect a vehicle ahead. With the front camera obstructed, thePre-Collision Assist system does not respondto pedestrians or stationary vehicles and thesystem performance on moving vehiclesreduces. The following table lists possiblecauses and actions for when this messagedisplays.
