NOTE
xThe paint chipping zone varies with the
speed of the vehicle. For example, when
travelling at 90 km/h (56 mph), the paint
chipping zone is 50 m (164 ft).
xIn low temperatures a vehicle's finish
hardens. This increases the chance of
paint chipping.
xChipped paint can lead to rust forming
on your Mazda. Before this happens,
repair the damage by using Mazda
touch-up paint according to the
instructions in this section. Failure to
repair the affected area could lead to
serious rusting and expensive repairs.

¾When the wiper lever is in the AUTO
position and the ignition is switched ON,
the wipers may move automatically in
the following cases:
¾If the windscreen above the rain sensor
is touched or wiped with a cloth.
¾If the windscreen is struck with a hand
or other object from either outside or
inside the vehicle.
Keep hands and scrapers clear of the
windscreen when the wiper lever is in the
AUTO position and the ignition is
switched ON as
fingers could be pinched
or the wipers and wiper blades damaged
when the wipers activate automatically.
If you are going to clean the windscreen,
be sure the wipers are turned off
completely (when it is most likely that the
engine is left running) this is particularly
important when clearing ice and snow.

¾A problem in the system may be indicated under the following conditions. Have your ve‐
hicle inspected at an expert repairer (we recommend an Authorised Mazda Repairer).
¾When the light remains turned on while driving the vehicle.
When the system is cancelled automatically, the light turns on. Normally, the system
restores automatically and the light turns off, however, if the light remains turned on,
there may be a problem with the system.
¾The light does not illuminate when the ignition is switched ON.
¾Always use tyres for all wheels that are of the specified size, and the same manufacture,
brand, and tread pattern. In addition, do not use tyres with significantly different wear
patterns on the same vehicle. If such improper tyres are used, the system may not oper‐
ate normally.
¾When an emergency spare tyre is used, the system may not operate normally.
NOTE
If the windscreen area in front of the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) is fogged or ob
structed, the light turns on temporarily. If the light remains turned on, there may be a
problem with the system.

NOTE
If the vehicle is driven on a road with less traffic and few vehicles that the radar sensors
can detect, the system may pause (The Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) OFF indicator light
in the instrument cluster illuminates). However, it does not indicate a malfunction.

Do not drive the vehicle with the air bag/
seat belt pretensioner system warning beep
sounding:
Driving the vehicle with the air bag/seat
belt pretensioner system warning beep
sounding is dangerous. In a collision, the
air bags and the seat belt pretensioner
system will not deploy and this could result
in death or serious injury. Contact an
expert repairer (we recommend an
Authorised Mazda Repairer) to have the
vehicle inspected as soon as possible.
