Instrument Cluster and Display
Function for cancelling illumination
dimmer
The illumination dimmer can be canceled
by rotating the dashboard illumination
knob to the right until a beep sound is
heard while the instrument cluster is
dimmed with the ignition switched ON.
If the instrument cluster's visibility is
reduced due to glare from surrounding
brightness, cancel the illumination
dimmer.
N O T E
 y (With Multi-information Display)
The illumination dimmer can be
canceled by pressing the dashboard
illumination knob.
 


y When the illumination dimmer is
canceled, the instrument cluster cannot
be dimmed even if the position lights are
turned on.
 


y When the illumination dimmer is
canceled, the screen in the center
display switches to constant display of
the daytime screen.

Outside Temperature Display
(Without Multi-information
Display)
When the ignition is switched ON, the
outside temperature is displayed.



N O T E
Under the following conditions, the
outside temperature display may differ
from the actual outside temperature
depending on the surroundings and vehicle
conditions:
 


y Signi¿ cantly cold or hot temperatures.



y Sudden changes in outside temperature.



y The vehicle is parked.



y The vehicle is driven at low speeds.

Changing the Temperature Unit of the
Outside Temperature Display
The outside temperature unit can be
switched between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
Settings can be changed by operating the
center display screen.
Refer to Personalization Features on page
9-11 .
N O T E
When the temperature unit indicated in the
outside temperature display is changed,
the temperature unit indicated in the
engine coolant gauge display changes in
conjunction with it.

Cruise Control Set Vehicle Speed

control is displayed.

Forward driving (Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) operation)
The Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) detects vehicles approaching from the rear and turns on
the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) warning indicator lights equipped on the door mirrors
according to the conditions. Additionally, while a Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) warning
indicator light is illuminated, if the turn signal lever is operated to signal a turn in the
direction in which the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) warning indicator light is illuminated,
the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) warning indicator light À ashes.
Reverse driving (Rear Cross Traf¿ c Alert (RCTA) system operation)
The Rear Cross Traf¿ c Alert (RCTA) system detects vehicles approaching from the left and
right of your vehicle and À ashes the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) warning indicator lights.
Function for cancelling illumination dimmer
If the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) warning indicator lights turn on when the parking lights
are turned on, the brightness of the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) warning indicator lights is
dimmed.
If the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) warning indicator lights are dif¿ cult to see due to
glare from surrounding brightness when traveling on snow-covered roads or under foggy
conditions, press the dimmer cancellation button to cancel the dimmer and increase the
brightness of Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) warning indicator lights when they turn on.
Refer to Dashboard Illumination on page 4-17 .
Display indicator (Vehicles with multi-information display and active driving display)
The detected approaching vehicle and warning are displayed in the multi-information
display and active driving display when the vehicle is moving forward (Blind Spot
Monitoring (BSM) operational).

The detected direction is displayed with a detection indicator (white) when an approaching
vehicle is detected. In addition, if the turn signal lever is operated to signal a lane change
while the vehicle is detected, the display changes the color (amber) of the warning indicator.

The Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) warning beep is activated simultaneously with the
À ashing of a Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) warning indicator light.

y When white (yellow) lane lines are not detected, the Lane-keep Assist System (LAS) &
Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) does not operate.
 


y Under the following conditions, the Lane-keep Assist System (LAS) & Lane Departure
Warning System (LDWS) may not be able to detect white (yellow) lane lines correctly and
it may not operate normally.
 


y If an object placed on the dashboard is reÀ ected in the windshield and picked up by the
camera.
 


y Heavy luggage is loaded in the luggage compartment or on the rear seat and the
vehicle is tilted.
 


y The tire pressures are not adjusted to the speci¿ ed pressure.



y Tires other than conventional tires are equipped.



y When the vehicle is driven on the guiding branch to or from the rest area or tollgate of
a highway.
 


y The white (yellow) lane lines are less visible because of dirt or fading/patchiness.



y A vehicle in front of your vehicle is running near a white (yellow) lane line making it
less visible.
 


y A white (yellow) lane line is less visible because of bad weather (rain, fog, or snow).



y The vehicle is driven on a temporary lane or section with a closed lane resulting
from construction where there may be multiple white (yellow) lane lines or they are
interrupted.
 


y A misleading line is picked up on the road such as a temporary line for construction,
or because of shade, lingering snow, or grooves ¿ lled with water.




y The surrounding brightness suddenly changes such as when entering or exiting a
tunnel.
 


y The illumination of the headlights is weakened because of dirt or the optical axis is
deviated.
 


y The windshield is dirty or foggy.



y The windshield, camera is fogged (water droplets).



y Back-light is reÀ ected off the road surface.



y The road surface is wet and shiny after rain, or there are puddles on the road.



y The shade of a guardrail parallel to a white (yellow) lane line is cast on the road.



y The width of the driving lane is narrow (less than about 2.5 m (98 in)) or wide (more
than about 4.5 m (178 in))
 


y Driving on roads with tight curves.



y The road is excessively uneven.



y The vehicle is shaken after hitting a road bump.



y There are two or more adjacent white (yellow) lane lines.



y There are various road markings or lane markings of various shapes near an
intersection.

CAUTION
 


¾ Do not apply accessories, stickers or fi lm to the windshield near the Forward Sensing
Camera (FSC).
  If the area in front of the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) lens is obstructed, it will cause
the system to not operate correctly. Consequently, each system may not operate normally
which could lead to an unexpected accident.
 


¾ Do not disassemble or modify the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC).
 Disassembly or modifi cation of the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) will cause a malfunction
or mistaken operation. Consequently, each system may not operate normally which could
lead to an unexpected accident.
 


¾ Heed the following cautions to assure the correct operation of the Forward Sensing Camera
(FSC).
 


¾ The direction of the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) has been fi nely adjusted, therefore
do not change the installation position or remove the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC).
 


¾ Be careful not to scratch the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) lens or allow it to get dirty.



¾ Do not remove the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) cover.



¾ Do not place objects on the dashboard which refl ect light.



¾ Always keep the windshield glass around the camera clean by removing dirt or fogging.
Use the windshield defroster to remove fogging on the windshield.
 


¾ Consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer regarding cleaning the interior side of the
windshield around the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC).
 


¾ Consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer before performing repairs around the Forward
Sensing Camera (FSC).
 


¾ The Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) is installed to the windshield. Consult an Authorized
Mazda Dealer for windshield repair and replacement.
 


¾ When performing repairs around the rearview mirror, consult an Authorized Mazda
Dealer.
 


¾ Do not hit or apply strong force to the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) or the area
around it. If strong force is applied, stop using the Lane-keep Assist System (LAS) & Lane
Departure Warning System (LDWS), the High Beam Control System (HBC), and the Smart
Brake Support (SBS) and consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer.
 


¾ The direction in which the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) is pointed has been fi nely
adjusted. Do not change the installation position of the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC)
or remove it. Otherwise, it could result in damage or malfunction.

initial value. In addition, a vehicle engine control unit reset is
required as follows:
Press and hold the dashboard illumination knob with the ignition
switched OFF, then switch it ON. Keep pressing the dashboard
illumination knob for more than 7 seconds.

Owner Maintenance
Vehicle Engine Control Unit Reset Procedure
After replacing the engine oil, it is recommended to have a repair shop such as an
Authorized Mazda Dealer perform the initialization (engine oil data resetting) of the
recorded value. If the value recorded by the computer is not initialized, the wrench indicator
light may not turn off or it may turn on earlier than normal.
N O T E
There are two methods for resetting the engine control unit.
1. The procedure described in the following.
2. The procedure described in the maintenance monitor item when the À exible
maintenance setting is selected. Refer to Maintenance Monitor on page 6-19 .

If either one of the methods is performed, resetting of the engine control unit is completed.

N O T E
The initialization (engine oil data resetting) of the recorded value can be performed using
the following procedure:

1. Switch the ignition OFF.
2. Switch the ignition ON with the dashboard illumination knob pressed, and press and
hold the dashboard illumination knob for about 7 seconds.
