The backrest of the forward-facing child

estraint system must, as far as possible, be
resting on the seat backrest of the rear seat.
s If the head restraint of the child seat cannot
be full

y extended when it is installed in the
vehicle, this will result in restrictions on the
maximum size setting for child restraint sys-
tems in weight category II or III.
Contact with the roof when the head
restraint is fully extended and locked in place
will not result in any restrictions on use.
s The child restraint system must not be put
under s
train between the roof and the seat
cushion and/or be Ntted facing the wrong
direction. Where possible, adjust the seat
cushion inclination accordingly.
s The child restraint system must not be put
under s
train by the head restraint. Adjust the
head restraints as appropriate.
s Make sure that the child's feet do not touch

he front seat. If necessary, move the front
seat slightly forwards. 
Install the child restraint system.
The entir
e base of the child restraint system
must always rest on the seat surface of the
rear seat. 
Always make sure that the shoulder belt strap
is cor
rectly routed from the seat belt outlet of
the vehicle to the shoulder belt guide on the
child restraint system.
The shoulder belt strap must be routed

NEVER use a rearward-facing child

estraint system on a seat with an ENA-
BLED FRONT AIRBAG. This can result in
the DEATH of or SERIOUS INJURY to the
CHILD. Observe the

ward-facing and forward-facing child restraint sys-

airbag on the PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator
lamp:
= If it is absolutely necessary to Nt a child
restraint system to the front passenger seat,
always observe the information on automatic
front passenger airbag shutoM ( page 58).
= When using a rearward-facing child restraint
system on the front passenger seat, the front
passenger airbag must always be disabled.
This is only the case if the PASSENGER AIR
BAG OFF indicator lamp is lit continuously

If t he PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator
lamp is oM, the front passenger airbag is ena-
bled. The front passenger airbag may deploy
during an accident.
Securing the child restraint system with the seat
belt on the front passenger seat
When Ntting a belt-secured child restraint system
on the front passenger seat, always observe the
following:
s Observe the notes on rearward-facing and
f
orward-facing child restraint systems on the
front passenger seat (  page 79).
s Observe the child restraint system manufac-
tur

er's installation and operating instructions.
s For a child restraint system in the "Universal"
or "Semi-U
niversal" category, make sure that
the system has been approved for the vehicle
seat.
Observe the notes under "Suitability of seats
for attaching belt-secured child restraint sys-
tems" (  page 75). s
When using a forward-facing child restraint
sy
stem in weight category I: remove the head
restraint from the respective seat, if possible.
Aser the child restraint system has been
removed, replace the head restraint immedi-
ately and adjust all head restraints correctly.
s The backrest of the forward-facing child

position if possible. 
Adjust the seat cushion inclination so that the

position and the rear edge of the seat cushion
is in t he lowest position. 
Set the seat backrest to the most vertical
position possible. 
Install the child restraint system.
The entir
e base of the child restraint system
must always rest on the sitting surface of the
front passenger seat. 
Always make sure that the shoulder belt strap
is cor
rectly routed from the seat belt outlet of
the vehicle to the shoulder belt guide on the
child restraint system.
The shoulder belt strap must be routed for-
wards and downwards from the seat belt out-
let. 
If necessary, adjust the front passenger seat
accor

There are child safety locks for the rear doors and
the rear side windows.
The child safety lock on the rear doors secures

h door separately. The doors can no longer be
opened from the inside.

If the vehicle is not opened within approximately
40 seconds aser unlocking, it locks again. Anti-
thes protection is primed again.
Do not keep the key together with electronic devi-
ces or metal objects. This can aMect the key's

ed setting for the acoustic locking
veriNcation signal must comply with the rele-
vant national road and traPc regulations. In
some countries, including Germany, using the
acoustic locking veriNcation signal is forbid-
den by traPc laws (in accordance with g16
Para. 1 and g30 Para. 1 of the German
national road traPc regulations). The driver of
the vehicle must comply with these regula-
tions. In countries where the use of this func-
tion is forbidden, this function is not activated
in the vehicle and must not be activated. Changing the unlocking settings

= Vehicles with KEYLESS-GO: if you touch the
inner surface of the door handle on the driv-
er's door, only the driver's door and the fuel
Nller Oap/socket Oap are unlocked. Deactivating the function of the key
Vehicles with KEYLESS-GO:

ou deactivate the
function of the key, the KEYLESS-GO functions are
also deactivated. Access or drive authorization by
KEYLESS-GO is then no longer possible with that
particular key. Activate the function of the key so
that all its functions will again be available.
You can also deactivate the function of the key to
reduce the energy consumption of the key if you
do not use the vehicle or a key for an extended
period of time.
