nction of RACE START
RACE START enables optimal vehicle accelera‐
tion from a standstill. Forth is, a suitably high-
grip road sur face is requ ired, the tyres and vehi‐
cle must also be in good condition.
% RACE START is only available af terth eve hi‐
cle has been run in (/ page 109).
% RACE START may not be used on normal
ro ads. RACE START mu stonly be activated and used on dedicated
race circuits, not on
public roads.

WARNING Risk of skidding and having
an accident from wheels spinning
When you use RACE STAR T,individual wheels
could spin and you could lose cont rol of the
ve hicle.
Depending on the ESP ®
mode selected, there
is an increased risk of skidding and having an
accident. #
Make sure that no persons or obstacles
are in the close vicinity of your vehicle. Ac
tivating RACE START
Re quirements:
R the doors, the bonn etand theta ilgate are
closed.
R the engine is running and the transmission
and engine are at normal operating temp era‐
ture. R
thesteering wheel is in thest ra ight-ahead
position.
R theve hicle is on le vel ground.
R theve hicle is stationar y,the brake pedal is
depressed (left foot ) and the parking brake is
re leased.
R the transmission is in position h.
R one of the drive prog rams C, Bor
I is selected (/ page114). #
Rapidly depress the accelerator pedal full y.
The engine speed increases.

Inthis phase you can adjust RACE START
depending on thero ad conditions: you can
va ry the engine speed bypulling on one of
th esteering wheel gearshift paddles. The
segments in the multifunction display flic ker
ra pidly.

Take your foot off the brake, but keep the
accelerator pedal depressed.
The vehicle pulls away at maximum accelera‐
tion. The RACE START active message

RACE START is deacti vated when theve hicle rea‐
ch es a speed of appr oximately 50 km/h.
RACE START is deacti vated immediately if you
re lease the accelerator pedal during RACE
ST ART or if any of the activation conditions are
no longer fulfilled. The RACE START cancelled
message appears in the multifunction displa y.%
After using it se veral times in short succes‐
sion, RACE START is una vailable until a cer‐
ta in dis tance has been driven. Fu
nction of the AMG DRIVE UNIT The AMG Drive
Unit consists of two additional
control elements on thesteering wheel.
Using the display buttons 2,you can decide
which two functions youwo uld like tooperate
with the left-hand AMG DRIVE UNIT control ele‐
ment. You can change between theav ailable

pressing the display button 4,you can direct ly

ar wing Fu
nction of there ar wing
The rear wing impr ovesth eve hicle's driving sta‐
bility and automatically retracts and extends dur‐
ing driving. Depending on theve hicle speed, it
adopts dif fere nt positions and thus adapts the
ve hicle's aerodynamics tothe driving conditions.
Ve hicles with the AMG aerodynamic pac kage are
fi tted wi thast ationary rear wing (/ page151).
If yo u drive at a speed greater than 80 km/h,
th ere ar wing will automatically extend.
If yo u drive at a speed lo werth an 80 km/h, the
re ar wing will automatically retract.
Yo u can retract and extend there ar wing man‐
ually for cleaning (/ page150).

Ensure that there are no people in the

display button again immediately.

Ad justing the stationary rear wing
Re quirements:
A soc ket wrench and a releasable, medium-
st re ngth bolt lo ckare available.
% Vehicles with the AMG aerodynamic pac kage
are fitted wi thast ationary rear wing.
The rear wing impr ovesth ere ar axle output and,
th erefore, theve hicle's driving stabilit y.Yo u can
mo vethere ar wing into an inclined and a flat
position.
When you mo vethere ar wing into the inclined
position, there ar axle output and the air resist‐
ance increase. #
Unscr ew the bolts 1with a soc ket wrench. #
Tilt th ere ar wing as far as it will go, upwards
in an inclined position, or down wards in a flat
position. #
Equip the bolts 1with a releasable,
medium- stre ngth bolt lo ckand tighten them.
Specified tightening torq ue: 10Nm. AMG RIDE CONTROL
Fu
nction of AMG RIDE CONTROL
AMG RIDE CONTROL is an electronically control‐
led damping sy stem for impr oved driving com‐
fo rt and inc reased driving saf ety. The damping is adjus
ted individually toeach
wheel and depends on thefo llowing factors:
R the driving style, e.g. sporty
R thero ad condition, e.g. bumps
R the individual selection of Sport, Sport+ or
Comfort
% The mode can also be set using the
DY NA MIC SELECT switch. Todo this, the
same suspension tuning must be selected
fo r AMG RIDE CONTROL and theDY NA MIC
SELECT switch.
% When theve hicle is star ted again, the "Com‐
fo rt" setting is activated automaticall y.
AMG RIDE CONTROL, selecting the suspen‐
sion tuning
Yo u can select from thre e dif fere nt suspension
tunings:
R COMFORT ensures a comfor table suspen‐
sion tuning. Select this suspension tuning if
yo u prefer a comfor table driving style.
R SPORT ensures a firm er suspension tuning.

rking Assist PARKTRONIC is an electronic
parking assi stance sy stem with ultrasound. It monitors
the area around your vehicle using six
sensors 1inthe front bumper and four sensors
in there ar bumper. Parking Assist PARKTRONIC
sho wsyouth e dis tance between your vehicle
and a de tected obs tacle visually and audibly.
Pa rking Assist PARKTRONIC is on lyan aid. It is
not a substitute foryo ur attention tothe sur‐
ro undings. The responsibility for safe manoeu‐
vring and parking remains with you. Make sure
th at there are no persons, animals or objects in
th e manoeuvring area while manoeuvring and
parking in/exiting parking spaces. Pa

sponding camera image in the multimedia sys‐
te m displa y.The coloured segments show the
dis tance between the sensors and the obs tacle.

In thest andard setting, an intermit tent wa rning
to ne sounds from a di stance of appr oximately
0.3 m toan obs tacle in front and appr oximately
1. 0 m toan obs tacle behind. A continuous tone
sounds from a di stance of appr oximately 0.2 m.
Using theWa rnear lysetting, you can set the
wa rning tone in the multimedia sy stem so that it
will sound earlier at a greater dis tance of appr ox‐
imately 1.0 m .
% The Warnear lysetting is alw ays active in
th ere ar of theve hicle.
If Pa rking Assist is deactivated and an obs tacle
is de tected in the path of theve hicle, a pop-up
window forPa rking Assist PARKTRONIC appears
in the multimedia sy stem at speeds below
10 km/h. Sy
stem limitations
Pa rking Assist PARKTRONIC does not necessa‐
ri ly take into account thefo llowing obs tacles:
R Obs tacles bel ow the detection range, e.g.
pe rsons, animals or objects.
R Obs tacles ab oveth e de tection range, e.g.
ove rhanging loads, overhangs or loading
ra mp s of lor ries.
As a result of additional accessories (e.g. licence
plate brac ket or bicycle rack )th e actual dis tance
to an obs tacle may not cor respond tothe dis‐
ta nce measu redby Parking Assist PARKTRONIC
under ce rtain conditions.
The sensors must be free of dirt, ice and slush.
Otherwise, they may not function cor rectly.
Clean the sensors regularly, taking care not to

The front camera view can be called up using
button 1or using the softk eys in the multime‐
dia sy stem.
% You can also swit chbetween the front cam‐
era and reve rsing camera vie wsusing the
DRIVE UNIT (/ page 149).
% Ifth ere ve rsing camera is active and you
shift from reve rsege ar to the drive position, th
e view automatically switches from the
re ve rsing camera tothe front camera.
The front camera and reve rsing camera are only
an aid. They are not a substitute foryo ur atten‐
tion tothe sur roundings. The responsibility for
safe manoeuvring and parking remains with you.
Make sure that there are no persons, animals or
objects etc., in the manoeuvring area while
manoeuvring and parking.

mir ror image, as in the inside rearview mir ror.

Sy stem limits
The cameras will not function or will only parti‐
ally function in thefo llowing situations:
R There is heavy rain, snow or fog.
R The light conditions are poor, e.g. at night.
R The respective camera lens is obstructed,
dirty or mis ted up. Obser vethe no tes on
cleaning the cameras (/ page314).
R Cameras, or vehicle components in which
th e cameras are fitted, are dama ged. In this
eve nt, ha vethe cameras, their positions and
th eir setting checked at a qualified specialist
wo rkshop.
The field of vision and other functions of the
re ve rsing camera may be restricted due toaddi‐
tional accesso ries (e.g. licence plate brac ket or
bicycle rack ). %
The display contrast may be impaired due to
incident sunlight or other light sources. In
th is case, pay particular attention.
% Have the display repaired or replaced if, for
ex ample, pixel er rors considerably restrict its
use.
Switching reve rsing camera automatic mode
on/off
The reve rsing camera is only an aid. It is not a
substitute foryo ur attention tothe sur roundings.
The responsibility for safe manoeuvring and
parking remains with you. Make sure that no
persons, animals or objects etc. are in the
manoeuvring range. Pay attention to your sur‐
ro undings and be ready tobrake at all times.

TENTION ASSI ST Fu
nction of ATTENTION ASSI ST
AT TENTION ASSIST assists you on long, mon oto‐
nous journe ys, e.g. on mo torw ays and trunk
ro ads. If ATTENTION ASSIST de tects indicators
of fatigue or increasing lapses in concentration
on the part of the driver, it suggests taking a
brea k.
AT TENTION ASSIST is only an aid. It cannot
alw ays de tect fatigue or lapses in concentration
in time. The sy stem is not a substitute for a well-
re sted and attentive driver. On long journe ys,
ta ke regular breaks in good time that allow for
adequate recuperation.
Yo u can choose between two settings.
R Standard: normal sy stem sensitivity.
R Sensitive: higher system sensitivity. The
driver is warned earlier and the attention
le ve l de tected byATTENTION ASSIST is adap‐
te d according ly.
If dr owsiness or increasing lapses in concentra‐
tion are de tected, theATTENTION ASSIST: Take
a break! warning appears in the instrument dis‐ pla
y.Yo u can ackn owledge the message and
tak e a break where necessar y.Ifyo u do not take
a break and ATTENTION ASSIST continues to
de tect increasing lapses in concentration, you
will be warned again af ter a minimum of
15 minutes. Yo
u can ha vethefo llowing status information for
AT TENTION ASSIST displa yed in the assis tance
menu of the on-board computer:
R The length of the journey since the last
break.
R The attention le vel de term ined byATTENTION
ASSIS T. If
AT TENTION ASSIST is unable tocalculate the
attention le vel and cannot issue a warning, the
System suspended messageappears.
If a warning is given in the instrument displa y,
th e multimedia sy stem of fers to sear chfor a rest
area. You can select a rest area and start naviga‐
tion tothis rest area. This function can be activa‐
te d and deactivated in the multimedia sy stem.
If AT TENTION ASSIST is deactivated, theé
symbol appears in the assis tance graphic in the
instrument display when the engine is running.
AT TENTION ASSIST is activated automatically
when the engine is re-sta rted. The last selected
sensitivity le velre mains stored.
Sy stem limitations
AT TENTION ASSIST is active in the 60 km/h to
200 km/h speed range.
The functionality of ATTENTION ASSIST is
re stricted, and warnings may be dela yed or not
occur at all in thefo llowing situations:
R Ifyo u ha vebeen driving for less than appr ox‐
