It is possibletomake use oftheresidual heatfromthe enginetocontinue heating orventilat‐ingthe front compartment ofthevehicleforapproximately 30 minutes.

Residual heat is switched off automatically.

Inserting orremoving theflacon ofthe fra‐grance system
\nWARNINGRisk of injuryfrom liquid per‐fume
Ifchildren opentheflacon,theycould drinkthe liquid perfume or it could come into con‐tact with theireyes.
Do not leavechildren unattended inthevehicle.
Consult a doctor immediately if liquidperfume has been drunk.
If liquid perfume comes into contactwithyoureyes or skin,rinseyoureyeswith cleanwater.
If symptoms continue, consult a doctor.
ENVIRONMENTALNOTEEnvironmentaldamageduetoimproper disposal of fullflacons
Fullflacons must not be disposedof with householdwaste.

Fullflacons must betakentoa harmful substance collection point.
Toinsert:slideflacon2intothe holder asfar as it will go.

Alwaysrefillthe emptyrefillableflacon withthesame perfume. Observethe separate informa‐tion sheet attachedtotheflacon.
Airvents
Adjusting the front airvents
\nWARNING‑ Danger of burns or frostbiteduetobeingtoo closetothe airvents
Veryhot orverycold air canflowfromthe airvents.
This couldresult in burns or frostbite intheimmediate vicinity ofthe airvents.
Makesurethat allvehicle occupantsalways maintain a sufficient distancetothe airvents.
If necessary, directthe airflowtoanother area ofthevehicle interior.
Toguaranteetheflowof fresh airthroughthe airvents intothevehicle interior, comply withthefollowing:
RAlwayskeepthevents andtheventilationgrille inthevehicle interior free.
RKeepthe air inlet free of deposits(page 358).
Toopen or close:hold airvent1inthecenter and turn ittothe left (open) orright(closed) asfar as it will go.
Toadjustthe air direction:hold airvent1inthe center and moveit up or down ortothe left orright.

The ignition is switched off again if one ofthefollowing conditions is met:
RVehicles with automatic transmission:you do notstartthevehicle within15minutes andthe transmission is in posi‐tion]orthe electric parking brake isapplied.
RYou press button1once.
Startingthevehicle
Startingthevehicle withthestart/stop but‐ton
Requirements:RThe SmartKeyis inthevehicle and isrecog‐nized.
Shiftthe transmissiontoposition]or\\.
Depressthe brake pedal and press button1once.
Ifthevehicle does notstart:switch off non-essential consumers and press button1once.
Ifthevehiclestill does notstart andthePlace the Key in the Marked Space SeeOperator's Manualdisplay message alsoappears inthe multifunction display:startthevehicle in emergency operation mode.
You can switchoffthe engine while drivingbypressing button1for aboutthree seconds orbypressing button1three times within a sec‐ond. Be suretoobservethe safety notes under"Driving tips".
Startingthevehicle in emergency operationmodeIfthevehicle does notstart andthePlace theKey in the Marked Space See Operator's Manualmessage appears inthe multifunction display,you canstartthevehicle in emergency operationmode.

Place SmartKey1in marked space2andleaveitthere.
Depressthe brake pedal andstartthevehicleusingthestart/stop button.

Cooling or heatingthevehicle interior beforecommencingyour journey
This function is notavailable in all countries.
Ifyoustartthevehicle viayour smartphone,thepreviously selected air conditioning adjustmentis active.

Limbs could be crushed or trapped iftheengine isstarted unintentionally duringservice or maintenancework.
Always securethe engine against unin‐tentionalstarting before carrying outmaintenance orrepairwork.

RThe anti-theft alarm system is not activated.
RThe panic alarm is not activated.
RThe hazardwarning lights are switched off.
RThe hood is closed.
RThe doors are closed and locked.

RYou can carryout a maximum of two consec‐utivestarting attempts. Thevehicle must bestarted once withthe SmartKeybefore tryingtostartthevehicle again withthe smart‐phone.

Topreservethe engine duringthefirst1,000 miles (1,500 km):

ROnly increasethe engine speed gradually andacceleratethevehicletofull speed after1,000 miles (1,500 km).
This also applies whenthe engine or parts ofthedrivetrain havebeenreplaced.

RIn certain driving and driving safety systems,the sensors adjust automatically while a cer‐tain distance is being driven afterthevehiclehas been delivered or afterrepairs.Full sys‐tem effectiveness is notreached untiltheend ofthisteach-in process.
RBrakepads, brake discs and tiresthat areeither new or havebeenreplaced only ach‐ieveoptimum braking effect and grip afterseveral hundred kilometers of driving. Com‐pensateforthereduced braking effectbyapplyinggreaterforcetothe brake pedal.
Notes on driving

Objects inthe driver'sfootwell may impedepedal travel or block a depressed pedal.
This jeopardizesthe operating androadsafety ofthevehicle.
Stowall objects inthevehicle securelysothattheycannotgetintothe driver'sfootwell.
Always installthefloor mats securelyand as prescribed in ordertoensurethatthere is always sufficientroomforthe pedals.
Do not use loosefloor mats and do notplacefloor mats ontop of one another.

Operation ofthe pedals may berestrictedduetounsuitablefootwear such as:
RShoes with platformsoles
RShoes with high heels
RSlippers
When driving alwayswear suitableshoes in ordertobe abletooperatethepedals safely.
\nWARNINGRisk of accident when switch‐ing offthe ignition when driving
Ifyou switchoffthe ignition while driving,safety functions arerestricted or no longeravailable. This may affectthe powersteeringsystem andthe brakeforce boosting,forexample.
You willthen needtouse considerably moreforcetosteer and brake.
