= MBUX multimedia system
The controls have touch-sensitive user interface surfaces. The surfaces are controlled by pressing
or swiping to adjust settings or to trigger func-
tions, forexample.
When handling touch-sensitive user interface sur-
faces, observe the following points to avoid prob-
lems operating:
= Do not aPx stickers orsimilar objects on the
surfaces
= Keep the surfaces protected from moisture
and wet conditions
= Keep the surfaces free of dust and dirt
( page 314).
Some touch-sensitive control elements have a symbol and integrated indicator lamps. When operating, make sure to press on the symbol of
the control element.Mercedes me app

&WARNING Risk of Nre caused by Oamma-
ble material on hot exhaust system com-
ponents
Flammable material such as leaves, grass or
twigs may ignite if they come into contact with
hot parts of the exhaust system.
When driving on an unpaved road or oM-
road, check the vehicle underside regu-
larly. In particular, remove trapped plant parts
or other Oammable material. If there is damage, consult a qualiNed
specialist workshop immediately.*NOTE Damage to the vehicle due to driv-
ing too fast and due to impacts to the
vehicle underbody or suspension compo-
nents
In the following situations, in particular, there
is a risk of damage to the vehicle:
= The vehicle becomes grounded, e.g. on a
high curb or an unpaved road
= The vehicle is driven too fast over an
obstacle, e.g. a curb, speed bump or pot-
hole
= A heavy object strikes the underbody or
suspension components
In situations such as these, damage to the body, underbody, suspension components, wheels or tires may not be visible. Compo-
nents damaged in this way can unexpectedly
fail or, in the case of an accident, may no lon- ger absorb the resulting force as intended.
If the underbody paneling is damaged, Oam-
mable materials such as leaves, grass or twigs
can collect between the underbody and the
underbody paneling. These materials may
ignite if they come into contact with hot parts
of the exhaust system.Have the vehicle checked and repaired
immediately at a qualiNed specialist
workshop.
or
If driving safety is impaired while con-
tinuing your journey, pull over and stop
the vehicle immediately, while paying
attention to road and traPc conditions,
and contact a qualiNed specialist work-
shop.
Vehicles with a 48 V on-board electrical system
&DANGER Risk of fatal injury by touching
damaged high-voltage components
Vehicles with a 48 V on-board electrical sys- tem contain individual high-voltage compo-
nents. These high-voltage components are
under high voltage.
22General notes

If you modify component parts of these high-voltage components or touch damaged com-
ponent parts, you may be electrocuted.
High voltage components may be damaged in
an accident, although the damage may not be
visible.Never perform modiNcations to compo-
nent parts of high-voltage components.Never touch damaged component parts
of high-voltage components.Never touch component parts of high-
voltage components aser an accident.
Vehicles with a 48 V on-board electrical system
contain high-voltage components. These compo-
nents are marked with a high-voltage label:
All work on high voltage components must be car-
ried out at a qualiNed specialist workshop.
Notes on mounting the license plate on the front
license plate holder
*NOTE Malfunctions and system failures
due to incorrect mounting of the license
plate on the front license plate holder
If the license plate is incorrectly mounted on
the front license plate holder, sensors, cam- eras or driving and safety systems may mal-
function or fail.
Observe the following points when mounting
the license plate on the front license plate holder:Mount the license plate directly on thelicense plate holder without advertising
media or other holders.Mount the license plate so that it does not protrude above or to the side of the
license plate adapter.

Connecting and using another device with thediagnostics connection can have the following
eMects:
= Malfunctions in the vehicle system
= Permanent damage to vehicle components
Please refer to the warranty terms and conditions
for this matter.
Moreover, connecting equipment to the diagnos- tics connection can lead to emissions monitoring information being reset, for example. This maylead to the vehicle failing to meet the require-
ments of the next emissions inspection during the
main inspection.

Notes for persons with electronic medical aids
Mercedes-Benz AG cannot, despite carefully
developing vehicle systems, completely rule out
the interaction of vehicle systems with electronic medical aids such as cardiac pacemakers.
In addition, there are components installed in the
vehicle that, regardless of the operating status of
the vehicle, can generate magnetic Nelds on a par
with permanent magnets. These Nelds can be
found, for example, in the area around the multi- media and sound system or also in the area of theseats, depending on the vehicle equipment.
For this reason, the following can occur in isolatedcases, depending on the aids used:
= Medical aids malfunctioning
= Adverse health eMects
Observe the notes and warnings of the manufac- turer of the medical aids; if in doubt, contact thedevice manufacturer and/or your doctor. If there is continuing uncertainty concerning the possibil-ity of medical aids malfunctioning, Mercedes-
Benz AG recommends using only few electricalvehicle systems and/or maintaining a distance
from the components.
Only have repairs and maintenance work in the
area of the following components carried out at a
qualiNed specialist workshop:
= Vehicle components carrying live voltage
= Transmission antenna
= Multimedia system and sound system
If you have any queries or suggestions, consult a
qualiNed specialist workshop.

Data storage
Data processing in the vehicle
Electronic control units
Electronic control units are installed in your vehi- cle. Control units process data which, for exam-
ple, they receive from vehicle sensors, generate themselves or exchange between themselves. Some control units are required for the safe oper-ation of your vehicle, some assist you when driv-
ing, such as driver assistance systems, while oth- ers enable convenience or infotainment functions.
The following provides you with general informa- tion regarding data processing in the vehicle.
Additional information regarding exactly which
data in your vehicle are collected, saved and
transmitted to third parties, and for what purpose, can be found in the information directly related to
the functional characteristics in question in their respective operating instructions. This information
is also available online and, depending on the
vehicle equipment, digitally.
Personal data
Every vehicle is identiNed by a unique vehicle
identiNcation number. Depending on the country,
this vehicle identiNcation number can be used by,
for example, governmental authorities to deter-
mine the identity of the owner. There are other
possibilities to use data collected from the vehicle to identify the owner or driver, such as the license
plate number.
Therefore, data generated or processed by control units may be attributable to a person or, under certain conditions, become attributable to a per-
son. Depending on which vehicle data are availa-
ble, it may be possible to make inferences about,
for example, your driving behavior, your location,
your route or your use patterns.
Legal requirements regarding the disclosure of
data
If legally required to do so, manufacturers are, in
individual cases, legally obliged to provide govern-
mental entities, upon request and to the extent required, data stored by the manufacturer. For
example, this may be the case during the investi- gation of a criminal oMense.Governmental entities are themselves, in individ-
ual cases and within the applicable legal frame- work, authorized to read out data from the vehi-cle. In the case of an accident, information thatcan help with an investigation can, therefore, be
taken from the air bag control unit, for example.
Operational data in the vehicle
This is data regarding the operation of the vehicle,
which have been processed by control units.
This includes the following data, for example:
= vehicle status information such as the speed,
longitudinal acceleration, lateral acceleration,
number of wheel revolutions or the fastened
seat belts display
= ambient conditions, such as temperature, rain
sensor or distance sensor
Generally, the use of these data is temporary;
they will not be stored beyond the period of oper- ation and will only be processed within the vehicleitself. Control units osen contain data memories
for vehicle keys, for example. Their use permits
the temporary or permanent documentation of
technical information about the vehicle\bs operat-28General notes
