Information on using a power washer
&WARNING Risk of an accident when using
power washers with round-spray nozzles
The water jet can cause externally invisible
damage.
Components damaged in this way may unex-
pectedly fail.
Do not use a power washer with round- spray nozzles.Have damaged tires or chassis parts
replaced immediately. To avoid damage to your vehicle, observe the fol- lowing when using a power washer:
= The key is at a minimum distance of 10 s
(3 m) away from the vehicle. Otherwise, the
trunk lid could open unintentionally.
= Maintain a distance of at least 11.8 in (30 cm)
to the vehicle.
= Vehicles with decorative Nlms: parts of your
vehicle are covered with a decorative Nlm.
Maintain a distance of at least 27.6 in (70 cm) between the Nlm-covered parts of the vehicle
and the nozzle of the power washer. Move the power washer nozzle around while cleaning.
The water temperature of the power washer
must not exceed 140°F (60°C).
= Observe the information on the correct dis-
tance in the equipment manufacturer\bs oper-
ating instructions.
= Do not direct the nozzle of the power washer
directly at sensitive parts, e.g. tires, gaps,
electrical components, batteries, illuminants or louvers.Maintenance and care311

In the event of paintwork damage:
= Always have paintwork repairs carried out at a
qualiNed specialist workshop.
= Make sure the radar sensors function
( page 179).
Notes on cleaning decorative Nlms
Observe the "Notes on paintwork/matte Nnish
paintwork care" ( page 312). They also apply to

substances (e.g. a car shampoo approved for
Mercedes-Benz).
= Remove dirt as soon as possible. Avoid rub-
bing too hard in order not to damage the dec- orative Nlm irreparably.

Nlm is dull: use the paint cleaner recommen-
ded and approved for Mercedes-Benz.
= Insect remains: soak with insect remover and
rinse oM the treated areas aserwards.
= Bird droppings: soak with water and rinse oM
aserwards.
= To prevent water stains, dry a Nlm-wrapped

= The service life and color of decorative Nlms
are impaired by:
- Sunlight
- Temperature (e.g. hot air blower)
- Weather conditions
- Stone chippings and dirt-Chemical cleaning agents
- Oily products
= Do not use polish on matte decorative Nlm.
Polishing will have the eMect of shining the
Nlm-wrapped surface.
= Do not treat matte or structured decorative
Nlms with wax. Permanent stains may occur.
Scratches, corrosive deposits, areas aMected by
corrosion and damage caused by incorrect care
cannot always be completely repaired. In this case, contact a qualiNed specialist workshop.
You can obtain more information on care and
cleaning agents from the manufacturer.
In the case of Nlm-wrapped surfaces, visual diMer-
ences may occur between the surfaces that were
not protected by a decorative Nlm aser a decora-
tive Nlm has been removed.\bHave work or repairs to decorative Nlms car-
ried out at a qualiNed specialist workshop
(e.g. at an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center).Notes on care of car parts&WARNING Risk of entrapment if the wind-
shield wipers are switched on while the
windshield is being cleaned
If the windshield wipers are set in motion
while you are cleaning the windshield or wiper

Always switch oM the windshield wipers
and the vehicle before cleaning the wind-
shield or wiper blades.
To avoid damage to the vehicle, observe the notes
on cleaning and care of the following car parts:
Wheels and rims
= Use water and acid-free alloy wheel cleaners.
= Do not use acidic alloy wheel cleaners to
remove brake dust. This could damage wheel
bolts and brake components.
