If you open the hood in the event of an overheated engine or Nre in the engine compartment, the following situa-
tions may occur:
= You may come into contact with hot gases.
= You may come into contact with other escaping hot operating Ouids.
Before opening the hood, allow the engine to cool down.In the event of a Nre in the engine compartment, keep the hood closed and call the Nre service.Wait until the engine has cooled down.Make sure that the air supply to the radiator is not obstructed.Avoiding high loads on the engine, drive to the nearest qualiNed specialist workshop. In doing so, ensure that the
coolant temperature display remains below the red marking.

If it is not possible to apply the electric parking brake:
Consult a qualiNed specialist workshop.Where necessary, also secure the parked vehicle against rolling away.
To release:
If the conditions for automatic release are fulNlled and the electric parking brake is not released automatically,
release the electric parking brake manually (  page 176).
If it is still not possible to release the electric parking brake:
