If an inappropriate coolant is used, the engine
cooling system is not suPciently protected
against overheating and corrosion at high out-
side temperatures.
Always use coolant approved by
Mercedes-Benz.Observe the instructions in the Mercedes-Benz SpeciNcations for Oper-
ating Fluids 310.1.
Have the coolant regularly replaced at a qualiNed
specialist workshop.
Proportion of antifreeze concentrate in the engine cooling system:
= a minimum of 50% (antifreeze protection down
to approximately -37°C)
= a maximum of 55% (antifreeze protection
down to -45°C)
Notes on windscreen washer Ouid
Observe the notes on operating Ouids
(  page 451).
&WARNING !ä Risk of Nre and injury due to
windscreen washer concentrate
Windscreen washer concentrate is highly Oam-
mable. It could ignite if it comes into contact
with hot engine component parts or the exhaust system.
Make sure that no windscreen washer
concentrate spills out next to the Nller
opening.*NOTE Damage to the exterior lighting due
to unsuitable windscreen washer Ouid
Unsuitable windscreen washer Ouids may
damage the plastic surface of the exterior
lighting.
Only use windscreen washer Ouids which
are also suitable for use on plastic surfa-
ces, e.g. MB SummerFit or MB WinterFit.*NOTE Blocked spray nozzles caused by
mixing windscreen washer OuidsDo not mix MB SummerFit and MB Win-
terFit with other windscreen washer Ou-
ids.
Do not use distilled or de-ionised water. Other- wise, the Nll level sensor may be triggered errone-
ously.
Recommended windscreen washer Ouid
= above freezing point: e.g. MB SummerFit
= below freezing point: e.g. MB WinterFit
For the correct mixing ratio, refer to the informa-
tion on the antifreeze container.
Mix washer Ouid with windscreen washer Ouid all
year round.

Trailer hitch
General notes on the trailer hitch
ModiNcations to the engine cooling system may
be necessary, depending on the vehicle model.
The retroNtting of a trailer hitch is only permissi-
ble if a towing capacity is speciNed in your vehicle
documents.
Further information can be obtained at a qualiNed
specialist workshop.

Display messages
Introduction

qInformation about display messages
Display messages appear on the driver display.
Display messages with graphical symbols are sim-
pliNed in the Owner's Manual and may diMer from
the symbols on the driver display. The driver dis-
play shows high-priority display messages in red.
Certain display messages are accompanied by a
warning tone.
Please act in accordance with the display mes- sages and follow the additional notes in the Own-
er's Manual.
For some display messages, a symbol will also be
shown:

seat. If additional forces are applied to the seat, the weight the system detects may be too low.&WARNING !ä Risk of injury or even fatal injury when the front passenger airbag is disabled
If the front passenger airbag is disabled, It will not be deployed in the event of an accident and cannot perform its
intended protective function.
A person in the front passenger seat could then, for example, come into contact with the vehicle interior, especially if the person is sitting too close to the dashboard.
Be aware of the status of the front passenger airbag both before and during the journey.Stop the vehicle immediately in accordance with the traPc conditions.Make sure that no objects are trapped under the front passenger seat.Check the status of automatic front passenger airbag actuation (  page 46).If necessary, consult a qualiNed specialist workshop immediately.Front passenger airbag ena-
bled See Owner's Manual*The front passenger airbag will be enabled while the vehicle is in motion in the following situations:

bled
If you secure a child in a child restraint system on the front passenger seat and the front passenger airbag is ena-
bled, the front passenger airbag can deploy in the event of an accident.
The child could be struck by the airbag.
Ensure, both before and during the journey, that the status of the front passenger airbag is correct.
NEVER use a rearward facing child restraint on a seat protected by an ACTIVE AIRBAG in front of it, DEATH or
SERIOUS INJURY to the CHILD can occur.
Stop the vehicle immediately in accordance with the traPc conditions.Make sure that no objects are trapped under the front passenger seat.Check the status of automatic front passenger airbag actuation (  page 46).If necessary, consult a qualiNed specialist workshop immediately.PRE-SAFE inoperative See
