Attaching a roof luggage rack

The vehicle centre of gravity and the usual

and braking characteristics alter.
If you exceed the maximum roof load, the driv-
ing characteristics, as well as steering and
braking, will be greatly impaired.

Depending on the vehicle equipment, the vehicle
has the following 12 V sockets: = In the front passenger footwell
= In the electronics compartment in the centre

Depending on its equipment, the vehicle has the
f ollowing USB ports:
= In the stowage compartment in the front
centre console
= In the stowage compartment under the front
armrest
= In the electronics compartment in the centre
console of the rear passenger compartment
Depending on the vehicle equipment, the vehicle
has either one or two USB ports in the stowage
compartment in the front centre console and
beneath the front armrest.
Depending on the vehicle equipment, the vehicle
has two USB connections in the rear centre con-
sole.
You can charge a USB device, such as a mobile
phone, at the USB ports using a suitable charging
cable. Depending on the vehicle equipment, devi-
ces can be charged with up to 20 V (5 A) when
the vehicle is switched on. Wireless charging of the mobile phone and con-

If objects in the vehicle interior are stowed
incor
rectly, they can slide or be thrown around
and hit vehicle occupants. In addition, cup
holders, open stowage spaces and mobile
phone receptacles cannot always retain all
objects within.
There is a risk of injury, particularly in the
event of sudden braking or a sudden change
in direction. 
Always stow objects so that they cannot
be t
hrown around in such situations. 
Always make sure that objects do not
pr

otrude from stowage spaces, luggage
nets or stowage nets. 
Close the lockable stowage spaces

ore starting a journey. Seats and stowing

Always stow and secure heavy, hard,
point ed, sharp-edged, fragile or bulky

exterior aerial via the charging module.
= The charging function and wireless connection
of the mobile phone to the vehicle's exterior
aerial are only available if the vehicle is
switched on. =
Small mobile phones ma

charged in every position of the mobile phone
stowage compartment.
= Large mobile phones which do not rest Oat in
the mobile phone stowage compartment may
not be able to be charged or connected with
the vehicle's exterior aerial.
= The mobile phone may heat up during the
charging process. This may also depend on
the applications (apps) currently open in the
background.
= To ensure more ePcient charging and connec-
tion with the vehicle's exterior aerial, remove
the protective cover from the mobile phone.
Protective covers which are necessary for

display facing upwards on mat 1 next to the
USB connections.
When a message is shown in the driver's display,

he mobile phone is being charged. In addition,
faults when charging the mobile phone are shown
in the central display. %
The mat can be removed for cleaning, e.g.
using clean, luk

Radio equipment approval numbers for Brazil
This de
vice operates on a secondary basis, that is
to say it has no protection against harmful inter-
ference, not even from the same type of stations,
and must not cause interference with systems
operating on a primary basis.
This product is permitted in accordance with the
procedure deNned in Directive 242/2000 by the
Brazilian telecommunications agency ANATEL and
meets the applicable technical requirements.

Objects in the driver's footwell may impede
pedal tr
avel or block a depressed pedal.
This jeopardises the operating and road safety
of the vehicle. 
Stow all objects in the vehicle securely
so t
hat they cannot get into the driver's
footwell.

prescribed in order to ensure that there
is always suPcient room for the pedals. 
Do not use loose Ooor mats and do no

Exterior lighting
Notes on adjusting the lights when driving abroad
If the automatic setting is selected in the
Low
beam menu, t
he headlamps are automatically
adjusted when the vehicle crosses the border into
countries in which traPc drives on the other side
of the road. They retain their full functionality. If
necessary, the headlamps can also be adjusted
manually in the Low beam menu ( page 146).
In the following cases, check the headlamp set-
ting and change it manually if necessary: = If the Low beam setting (left/right-side traf-
fic) Manual adjustment only display message
is displayed.
= If the Check low beam setting (left/right-
side traffic) display message is displayed.
Following manual adjustment: = Oncoming traPc will not be dazzled.
= The edge of the road will not be illuminated as
far or as high.
= The "motorway mode" and "enhanced fog
light" functions will not be available. Information about lighting systems and your

for correct vehicle illumination in accordance with
the prevailing light and visibility conditions, legal

When low beam is activated, the ` indicat

lamp for the standing lights will be deactivated
and replaced by the L low-beam indicator
lamp. 
Always park your vehicle safely using suPcient
lighting, in accor
dance with the relevant legal
stipulations.

king light.For vehicles that are wider than 2 m or longer

han 6 m, single-sided parking lighting is not per-
mitted in some countries. In this case, the stand-
ing lights are also switched on in the parking
lights position. If the battery is

y charged, the stand-
ing lights or parking lights will be switched oM
automatically to facilitate the next engine start.
The exterior lighting (except standing and parking
lights) will switch oM automatically when the driv-
er's door is opened.

The low beam will be switched on despite the

lights, low beam and daytime running lights are
switched on automatically depending on the light
conditions. &

bility
When the light switch is set to X, t
he
dipped beam may not be switched on auto-
matically if there is fog, snow or other causes
of poor visibility such as spray. 
In such cases, turn the light switch to
L. The automatic driving lights are only an aid. You
ar

Vehicles with Active Lane Change Assist:
= A turn signal indicator activated by the
driver may continue to operate for the
duration of the lane change.
= If the driver indicated directly beforehand
but a lane change was not immediately
possible, the turn signal indicator may acti-
