Function of Drive Away Assist
Dr
ive Away Assist can reduce the severity of an
impact when pulling away. If the system detects
an obstacle in the direction of travel, the vehicle's
speed is brieOy reduced to approximately 2 km/h.
A risk of collision may occur in the following situa-
tions, forexample: = If the driver mixes up the accelerator and
brake pedals. =
If t
he driver engages an incorrect gear.
= If the driver depresses the accelerator pedal
with too much force.
Drive Away Assist is active under the following
conditions:
= If the vehicle was stationary and the transmis-
sion position was changed to k or h.
= If the vehicle has rolled less than approx-
imately 1.0 m since being at a standstill.
= If the detected obstacle is less than approx.
1.0 m away.
The Drive-away Assist can be deactivated or acti-
vated in the Manoeuvring assistance menu
( page 292).
If a critical situation is detected, the following
symbol appears in red in the selected view in the
Camera & parking menu: %
If Drive Away Assist is not available, the same
symbol appear s in grey. If the Camera & park-
ing menu is not opened in the central display,

Function of cross traPc warning
The cross traPc warning can warn you of crossing
traPc when you are exiting a parking space. The
radar sensors in the bumper also monitor the area
adjacent to the vehicle.
The cross traPc warning is automatically active
when you reverse at a speed of less than approx-
imately 10 km/h.

Manoeuvring brake function
The manoeuvring brake function can prevent colli-
sions with pedestrians when the vehicle is revers-
ing at slow speeds. If the reversing camera
detects a person in the vehicle path, the vehicle
can be braked to a standstill.
The manoeuvring brake function can intervene
under the following conditions:
= The vehicle is reversing at a speed slower than
10 km/h.
= The camera image is shown in the central dis-
play ( page 279).
You can activate and deactivate the manoeuvring
brake function in the Manoeuvring assistance

ble trailers
Trailers with a steered axle or a Nsh wheel
canno
t be used with Trailer Manoeuvring
Assist. Due to this, the trailer cannot be manoeuvred
in t
he desired direction and you can cause a
collision or the trailer can overturn.
Only use Trailer Manoeuvring Assist with
tr
ailers with Nxed drawbars and axles. *
NOTE Damag
e due to overhanging loads
in front or drawbar installations The vehicle and the trailer may be damaged
dur

ing manoeuvring due to overhanging loads
at the front of the trailer or drawbar installa-
tions.
Pay attention to overhanging loads or
dr

awbar installations while manoeuvring. Trailer Manoeuvring Assist assists you when
r

eversing with a trailer. Using the reversing cam-
era, it monitors the articulation angle between the
vehicle and trailer and adjusts it to a speciNed
value. Trailer Manoeuvring Assist also limits your
speed.
Trailer Manoeuvring Assist is only an aid. It is not
a substitute for your attention to the surround-
ings. The responsibility for safe manoeuvring and parking remains with you. Make sure that there
ar

e no persons, animals or objects in the manoeu-
vring area while manoeuvring and parking in/exit-
ing parking spaces.
You can either enter the articulation angle value
directly via the multimedia system, or use a
straightening manoeuvre or the 90° manoeuvre.
When carrying out a straightening manoeuvre, the
system calculates the articulation angle automati-
cally and straightens the vehicle/trailer combina-
tion to the trailer's current direction.
Observe the notes on towing a trailer
( page 294).

able depend on the current articulation angle and
length of the trailer.
To adjust the articulation angle: select 3.

image in the central display to change the
articulation angle.
or
To activate the straightening manoeuvre:

stem calculates the articulation angle in

the time of activation is maintained. There is a Driving and parking

short countersteering movement of the trailer
while t
he vehicle is reversed, which then
guides it back to the desired line. In this way,
the vehicle is aligned straight with the trailer
and, at the same time, the direction of the
trailer is maintained.
or
To activate the 90° manoeuvre:
= Align t

he vehicle in the same direction
(line) as the trailer.
= Select (les or right) 2.
The system calculates the articulation angle
so that the trailer can be manoeuvred into a
space perpendicular to the vehicle using the
smallest possible angle. Aser the manoeuvre,
the vehicle is aligned again in the direction of
the trailer.
Accelerate and brake as required.
% The maximum articulation angle depends on
t

he length of the trailer. This is calculated by
the system by driving the vehicle forwards,
including cornering. Before the length of the
trailer has been calculated, the maximum
articulation angle is approximately 23°. The longer the trailer is, the higher the maximum
ar
ticulation angle (max. approximately 60°).
