Overview of climate control systems
Notes on climate control
For the air-conditioning system, pollution level
monit
oring and air Nltration to function correctly,
an interior air Nlter must always be used. Make
sure that the Nlter is installed correctly. Use Nlters
recommended and approved by Mercedes-Benz.
Always have maintenance work carried out at a
qualiNed specialist workshop. Overview of the air conditioning control panel

When the vehicle is connected to power supply
equipment, priority is given to charging the high-
voltage battery to a speciNed minimum charge.
The running time of pre-entry climate control may
be reduced under the following conditions:
= The vehicle is not connected to power supply
equipment. =
The high-v

With active pre-entry climate control, the charge
level of the high-voltage battery may be reduced,
even if the charging cable connector is connec-
ted.

DANGER Risk of f
atal injury due to poison-
ous exhaust gases
If the tailpipe is blocked or suPcient v
entila-
tion is not possible, poisonous exhaust gases
such as carbon monoxide may enter the vehi-
cle. This is the case in enclosed spaces or if
the vehicle gets stuck in snow, for example.
Always switch the stationary heater oM in
enclosed spaces wit
hout an air extrac-
tion system, e.g. in garages.
Keep the tailpipe and the area around
t

he vehicle free from snow when the
engine or the stationary heater is run-
ning.
Open a window on the side of the vehicle
f

acing away from the wind to ensure an
adequate supply of fresh air. &
WARNING Risk of Nr
e due to hot station-
ary heater components and exhaust gases
Flammable materials such as leaves, grass or
twigs ma
y ignite.
When the stationary heater is switched
on, mak

e sure that:
= hot vehicle parts do not come into
contact with Oammable materials.
= the exhaust gas can Oow out of the
stationary heater exhaust pipe unhin-
dered.

WARNING Risk of c
hemical burns and poi-
soning from damaged high-voltage battery
If the housing of the high-voltage battery has
been damag
ed, electrolyte and gases may
leak out.
Avoid contact with the skin, eyes or
clo

thing.
Immediately rinse electrolyte splashes
oM wit

h water and seek medical atten-
tion straight away. &
DANGER Risk of Nr
e and explosion from
excessive internal pressure of the high-
voltage battery
In the event of a vehicle Nr
e, Oammable gas
can escape and ignite.
Stop the charging process immediately
in case of unusual odour

s, smoke or
burn marks.
Leave the danger zone immediately.
Secur

e the danger zone at a suPcient
distance.
Call the Nr
e service. The hybrid system combines a combustion engine
wit
h an electric motor. Characteristics when the vehicle is at a standstill:
= The combus

tion engine is generally switched
oM.
= Idle speed occurs only in certain instances.
Characteristics when the vehicle is started: = If the high-voltage battery is suPciently
charged, the vehicle can be started with the
electric drive system without the combustion
engine (noiseless start).
= If the high-voltage battery for the electric drive
system is not suPciently charged or the vehi-
cle conditions for a silent start are not met,
the vehicle will start with the combustion
engine.
% Depending on the system, it may be that even
t
hough the high-voltage battery is charged,
electric mode has restricted or no availability.
Once the combustion engine has been oper-
ated for long enough, electric mode will be
again available without restriction.
% To start the combustion engine, the high-volt-
ag

e battery can be used as a starter battery. Driving and parking
