the direction of arrow 1.
The current speed is stored.
All models except CLK 500:
Speedtronic rounds the speed up to
the next multiple of 10 km /h.G
Risk of accident If there is a change of drivers, advise the
new driver of the stored speed limit.
Only use variable Speedtronic if you are sure
that you will not have to accelerate suddenly
to a speed abo vethat sto reda s the speed
limit. You could othe rwise cause an acci-
dent.
It is only possible to exceed the stored li mit
speed if you deactivate variable Speed-
tronic, e.g. by depressing the accelerator
pedal beyond the pressure point (kic kdown). G
Risk of injury CL

Speedtronic brakes th evehicle automati-
cally to preve nttheset speed from being
exceeded. When this happens, the brake
pedal is depressed.
Do not place your foot under the brake pedal

You can use the operating system to limit
the speed permanently to a value between
160 km /h(e.g. for driving on winter tyres)
an d the maximum speed.
If you wish to use Speedtronic to set a
speed limit for dr iving with winter tyres,
you must:

gram ming (

or ! set the same speed limit for all keys

PT S is activat ed automatically when
you switch on the ignition. PTS is deacti-
va ted when the speed exceeds 15 km /h.
The Parktronic system is reactivated when
the vehicle's speed falls below this.
PTS monitors the area around your vehicle
using six sensors in the front bumper and
four sensors in the rear bumper.

The sensors must be free from dirt, ice and
slush, otherwise they may not function cor-
rectly. Clean the sensors regularly, taking
care not to scratch or damage them. Fr

or tra iler towbars. PTS doe snotdetect such
ob ject swhen theyare in th e immediat evicini ty.
Yo u could other wise damage the vehicle or

co mpressed-air brakes or a pne umatic drill could
ca use PTS to malfunction.

If there is an obstacle within this range, all
the warn ing lamps light up and a signal
sounds. If your vehicle's distance falls
below the minimum distance, the distance
may no longer be shown. Warnin

The warning displays show the distance
between the sensor and the obstacle.
The warning display for the front area is
located on the cockpit above the centre air
vents. The warn ing display for the rear area
is at the rear in the roof lining. Front are

The warning display for each side of the
vehicle is divided into six yellow and two
red segments. Parkt ronic is activated if the
frame is lit.
The gear lever or selector lever positi on
determines which warning display is acti-
vated. Vehicles with manual transmission:

thautomatic transmission*:
One or more segments light up as the vehi-
cle approaches an obstacle, depend ing on
the veh icle's distance from the obstacle.
From the 7th segment, you will hear an
interm ittent warning signal. From the
8th segment, a continuous warning signal
sounds for a maximum of three seconds.

require it. The minimum detection range of PTS
to an obstacle refers to the bumper, not the ball

Roofracks recommended for Mercede s-
Benz are specially developed and tested. These
ro of racks conform to DIN standard 75302 and
ar ealso subjected to crash tests and durability
tests. !
Mercede s-Benz recommends that youo nly
use roof rack syst ems which have been tested
and appr oved for Mercede s-Benz. This helps to
avoid damage to the vehicle.
Stow the load on the roof rac kin such a way that
yo ur vehicle is not damaged during the journey.
Make sure that:
! you can raise the sliding /tilting * sunroof
fully
! you can open the boot lid fully

6 Fasten the supports there. Comply with
the manufacturer's installation instruc-
